I had a noise like this once and it turned out that one of the plastic timing chain guides had broken. I replaced it myself and it was good to go. That was on a Nissan though.
in my opinion especially because it goes away after it warms up its timing belt tensioner, usually those use oil pressure to keep the chain tight but when its cold there's no pressure and its supposed to have some tension but they wear out and cant give the belt / chain enough tension what was the fix its been 5 years
