    How do you prevent leggy seedlings for your napa cabbage? What do you recommend doing to fix leggy seedlings? I am growing my napa cabbage next to window. I don’t have any grow lights. Thanks!

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Leggy seedlings are due to lack of sufficient light. Since cabbages prefer cold temperature, if it is not freezing outside, move them outdoor for a 5-6 hours of morning light. And when planting, bury part of the leggy stem in soil. Hope this helps and thank you for visiting.

    What kind of liquid fertilizer do you recommend?

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  วันที่ผ่านมา

      I usually use fish fertilizer (5-1-1) to feed green and leafy plants, about 1oz per gallon of water. a.co/d/hEHW97a . Thank you for visiting!

    Do you eat the outer leaves or just the head. I successfully grew some this year. The outer leaves are rougher so maybe good for cabbage rolls. Do you do anything with them?

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You are right, outer leaves are rough and I usually just throw them in my compost bin. I asked few cooks and they all recommend not to use it for cabbage roll. But if you happen to do it, let us know how it turns. Thank you very much for getting in touch!

    No talk no information video. What is your geographical location. What is your weather. When do you plant seeds.

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Even if I talked, I wouldn't include those information. Planting time depends on the climate of your area, not mine. If you check the video @0:30 , I included that you can start 4 weeks before your last frost. To make you smile, I am in So Cal, zone 9b. Thank you for visiting.

      It is called bolting and happens when plants hit the hot weather and start flowering. Try to grow them in cool weather, such as late fall or early spring. Thanks for visiting.

      Maybe you've got the wrong seed.
      The plant you're talking about is called mustard.

    • @ozarksbuckslayer2484
      @ozarksbuckslayer2484 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@360giri4 He didn't get the wrong seeds. They can't handle warm climate. They bolt quicker than anything that I've ever tried to grow and pak choi is also quick to bolt. I planted a bunch this spring as early as they could possibly be planted outside, and every one of them went to seed before they were half grown, which tells me that they can't be grown during the spring of the year here where I live at, which is southern Missouri.

    Dr. Earth Organic & Natural Pure Gold®All Purpose Liquid Plant Food 1-1-1. The 1 gallon size is difficult to track down online to local stores. I wonder why some the 16 oz pump version has some customers say that plants developed mold.

    how do you keep it from bolting?

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Bolting is due to hot weather. Napa cabbage is a cold crop, so you should plant and grow them in cool season. For cold winters, plant them in May. For mild winters, plant them in August, or February. If it gets warmer in midday, try to protect them with a shade cloth from the hot midday sun. Hope this helps and thank you for visiting.

    From beginning to end, your setup is organized and precise. Do you have a video link on how to make a watering bottle for seeds from a drinking bottle? A link to the clear tote used to hold the seedling media? A link to the tray that is underneath the seedling containers to prevent media from getting on the table? Thanks

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glad you like it. For the water bottle, II just punch holes on the cap with a push pin used on clipboards 📌. I will try to post a video on this soon. The clear tote is from target but you can find it in major retail stores too here is the link www.target.com/p/28qt-clear-under-bed-storage-box-white-room-essentials-8482/-/A-80162151 . The tray is from IKEA www.ikea.com/us/en/p/tillgang-tray-gray-10419950/#content . I hope this helps and thank you very much for your comment!

    Can I cut the dropy side leaves?or just let them be until harvest time?always adore your work,❤thanks

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The outer leaves act as a sort of protection against bugs. I have noticed that bugs usually attack the side leaves and the inner core stays healthy. So I suggest to keep them and you can cut them after harvest. Happy growing and as always thank you so much for your comment!
