    The most thing I love about this game other than the breathtaking scenery, is how well written and multi-dimensional characters are (both main and side). It makes you connect and relate to most of them. Even the villain had an aura around him, is ruthless yet cunning and scary which I find lacking in most villains in modern entertainment (a lot of them are just bad, but that’s it. Kind of cartoony, there’s no depth to the characters).
    I love how realistic and creative the writing in GoT is, all of the characters become either morally gray or dark as that’s the effect of war and its crimes did to people. Norio was the kindest character beside Taka, yet because of what the Mongols did to his brother he became a beast. I was really surprised when he burned the camp and killed all those Mongols all by himself and without any help (was afraid we’d find him dead but am glad that he didn’t die or get wounded).

    The historical background depicted in this game is inaccurate. For example, the Japanese soldiers' armor and costumes and Japanese building in this game are from the late 16th century, not the late 13th century (at the time of the Mongol invasion). Westerners like the word "samurai", but in Japan at that time, it was more popular to call it "bushi", "buke", "bujin", "bumon" instead of "samurai". In addition, "bushi (samurai)", which has a master-slave relationship with the "Kamakura-dono(Kamakura Shogunate)", was called "Gokenin".

    • @kintsugi5685
      @kintsugi5685 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you play the game in Japanese they use era appropriate terms such as Tachi,Bushi and others. The armour and the buildings are done so on purpose due to an aesthetic feel. There still are O Yoroi type armours in the game and btw, It isn't Kamakura Dono- it's Kamakura Bakufu

      the haiku also did not exist during the first mongol invasion, but it is something that can be done in the game
      it is like this by design
      the objective of the game was to create the best samurai fantasy game
      so it had to fit people's ideas of what samurai were like, or how they looked, even if it would not be period appropriate
      it was all to contribute towards the image and aesthetic the game wanted to create, and it does it well
      it is not entirely accurate, but some things can be sacrificed for the sake of art
