I like how every one of these duels is surrounded by a certain element of nature. fall leaves, mud, crashing waves, flames, it gives each one a distinct "boss fight" feel.
The elements surrounding the fight are a direct reference to Kurosawa and his films.

Red Star not necessarily. The person in the video just knows how to cut them off before they can advance into their more difficult techniques. He’s making it look easy because they kill them before they can progress the stages of the fight
I have to say the coolest duel is the one with the crows flocking around both the player and the enemy….it’s so demonic so epic…I would love to see a duel in heavy rainfall,and during a snow storm and also near mount fuji that would be cool

@@CENB71 Yeah deflecting is a bit easier once you get familiar with the opponent's move set. It feels amazing when you deflect all the strikes perfectly and the satisfaction you get after dealing a deathblow to a mini boss is wholesome.
You know what's cool? This is probably how Jin fights canonically. After getting defeated by Khotun the first time, he perfected his swordsman skills, learned all the new techniques and ended up becoming a demi-god who parries and perfectly dodges EVERY SINGLE attack. It also explains why all his story opponents (especially Ryuzo and Khotun) end up looking as if they shat themselves, lmao.
Plus there’s also this legend of the Ghost, a samurai who has come back from the dead at Komoda Beach to avenge the fallen samurai and defeat the Mongols, I’d probably shit myself too.
If there is a sequel set a long time after the main game I seriously hope there is a “Legend of the Ghost” quest, idk what it’d give though, his armor, ghost stance, any number of cool things Jin does would work.

I do love that shimura is so deluded by his honor that he genuinely believes he can kill a guy with a body count in the near thousands
I think that’s why the samurai died out their honourable fighting style wasn’t effective against well...pretty much any fighting styles they were still good at fighting (probably the best) but just to dense to see the full picture

It's not so much that Shimura believes in his victory as him wanting to take responsibility. The Shogun had ordered him to kill the Ghost and Shimura was obliged to do it; both as the lord of Tsushima and as a family to Jin.
Taking Jin's life was not his chance at redemption - it was his punishment.

I love Ryuzo's final confrontation. Jin is straight up let's do it, like he's past trying to mend his friendship with Ryuzo. "He let me behind to collect the ghost's head" "then come claim it".
Ryuzo knew he was fucked tho since he dropped his sheath on the floor as if he wasn’t gonna be able to ever put his sword back in it again, which he was right to do so.

@@shirohiro6531 Maybe a future update, but to be fair, what would we gain with NG+ for this game? Not dissing the game as I damn well say it's Game Of The Year worthy, but most of the stuff you get is purely cosmetic, armors are great but when maxed, again they nearly become just cosmetics with buffs, plus someone who has every ability point would still be able to use their abilities like ghost stance at the early stages and make almost everything nearly moot. I honestly say this game doesn't deserve NG+ but definitely say Sucker Punch did an amazing job.

They updated the game with a much harder difficulty called Lethal. I guess it's kind of a NG+?

The duel with Lord Shimura always gets me in the feels, I picked the same lines for my haiku as you did. I had a feeling I would have to fight him but I definitely didn't expect such an impact from it.
This is the most beautiful game I've played hands down, and I will always recommend it.

From what i've gathered i got the sense that the subtitles under the Japanese dubs a faulty and don't reflect what they are saying realy well. Contrary to the English dubbed version which is a direct translation of the Japanese dub. check out 'the Metatron' video on that

Yeah, but it doesn't help with the gameplay or the cinematic. Looking down to see what they are saying is distracting, especially during a fight. So I chose the English dub.
The heavenly strike fight is brilliant, the lighting synchronized with the combat was soo epic!

Reality difficultly > one hit = Insta kill > No HUD > No listener. NG+ is optional

Honestly it was probably one of the more emotional moments in my entire life when I decided to kill Lord Shimura. Everything leading up to it and the music and amazing vocals really made me sheaf a few tears.
I'm still playing through it, but saw this as inevitable. But it seems strange to kill him after fighting to rescue him.

Couldn’t kill him… he was just raised with honor and didn’t know anything else. I fought to save him then fought him to prove that there are other ways. Hopefully if there is another game, your decision to either save him or kill him affects it

I don't have the game yet, but I'm watching these fights to see how I can predict incoming attacks, and I'm learning well. When a white light shows by their hilt, it can be parried, if red, dodge.

Jinroku now rivals mist noble for the hardest boss award
The ending they chose had a pretty deep meaning, it’s like, “You and I may be finished, but the people still need a leader.” 😔it humbly got me in the feels.
The other ending is more saddening, but it shows Jin isn't without honor... But there are three differences afterwards, you probably know them, but for others who might read this, one is the ghost armor is permanently got a new base color, depends on your choice, sparing gives a red like color, while honoring give a white one, two is the way you return to controlling Jin, sparing he is writing, presumably a letter to his uncle or anyone, the other he wakes up from resting, and three, the house location, sparing brings you closer to Jin's old home of Omi village, ballsy really, since well... The Shogun sent new samurai, which haven't arrived yet, then for honoring, it's further south of Omi, more close to Umugi cove, with a hot spring. What's inside the house is the same, monologue is the same, talking to Yuna to start post game is slightly different at first but becomes the same. I honestly say the honor ending is the better of the two. But both are equal without bias hey truly are.

I keep wondering how you're doing so much damage after a perfect parry, and then I remember that I stubbornly never took off the Traveler's Attire for the entire game. Also, had all bow related charms equipped and never changed them.

I don't know about everybody else, but for all straw hats duels I wore the betrayer hat. Let them know the true person behind each of their deaths kind of thing. Amazing game.

Warlord Dogar didn't even get a chance, he died in like 5 seconds
Idk how many years it took him to become a warlord, but his faith sure ended very quicky 😂😂
This game is just so damn good. These fights are where it really shines. Just raw, 1 on 1 samurai combat. They set the scene beautifully each time. Ive never done one using the sakai armor, hell i dont even use it but i have to admit, it adds to the ferocity of the fight. Looks like a monster in that armor. I always use the gosaku armor.
That last duel is so emotionally intense, almost made me cry...
The perfect parries and perfect dodges are so satisfying to perform.
That blade spin after you kill to clean the katana. Mind blowing!
It's crazy how the whole game the wind's been leading you towards your destination, and at the end it rests so the leaves fall into the final battlefield... epic.

I just fought Alten today- I activated the Ghost Stance I’d saved up from his minions, immediately used Dance of Wrath when that ran out, Heavenly Striked once, and then used Dance of Wrath again. First hit took him out and the other two diced up one of his guards.
Your parry and dodge skills are impeccable, I take my hat off to you sir.

Steban Hern honestly, I think sekiro showed more polish. Probably because it was not open world, but also the cutscenes were well blocked and shot. In GoT, there are so many terrible angles. That too, stealth was also far too easy in GoT. With Sekiro, you were given more enjoyment out of stealth.

I replayed this game recently and I have just one word for it. Absolute brilliance. The best moment is from Ghost of Yarikawa when Jin slaughter the Mongol Leader first time. That was the most EPIC moment in any games I have ever played.

Same here. It has been such a long time since I've had such a blast with a game (probably because I'm a huge fan of the Tenchu series). If it had NG+, I would've probably replayed it for the 4th time by now. Let's hope that SP add such a mode in a future update. Heck, NG+ should be mandatory in all games.
@@bryantimothy8616 NG+ aka New Game Plus is a mode that allows you to start a new playthrough where you keep all your upgrades and items from your previous playthrough. Basically, it saves you the hassle of unlocking and collecting things again.
