Renzo Pedemonte I feel the same, Jin rejects samurai code and not killing uncle confirms that his a Ghost now. Killing uncle only would show that Shimura and stupid code is more valuable than the life. Jin sacrificed everything to save the others life
12:04 it’s symbolic how they each write the final haikus at different colored leaves. Plus, if you killed him, the option on the left, you got the white ghost outfit, just like the color of the leaves on the left. If you spared him, the option on the right, you got the red ghost outfit, which are the leaves on the right
I do think there's some interesting dual-symbolism to be found in the Righteous Punishment and Vow of Vengeance skins if you look at eastern cultures: White represents not just death, but purity in body and mind. This to me reflects the symbolism of Jin choosing to kill Lord Shimura: it shows that underneath the Ghost, he is still willing to adhere to what his country deems as honorable. Plus, more obviously, you get this outfit by killing Lord Shimura. Red represents prosperity of family, which is poetic considering Jin's words: he will not kill his family for the sake of honor, even if Shimura will hunt him for the rest of his life. I also think the real kicker of this outfit is red is the color of Clan Shimura, further adding to this symbolism.
Using a sword would be far less efficient than using his bare hands, not to mention that it would be busted to hell and too dull to kill if he treated it like a shovel
Lord Shimura went to that duel knowing full well Jin would best him. He wanted to die because he had lost his son, Jin had been outcast and his clan disbanded. Metaphorically Lord Shimura wanted both of their clans to die that day. He didn’t want to pass the Shimura mantel down to anyone that wasn’t Jin... What a beautiful game... not afraid to say I cried. 🥺
It was sad I said to my self imagine dying so fast during that day one of my baby budgies were sick it got medicine shortly after it passed away every time it think of her death I think of him.
I’m playing the game and my I just got to the part where my horse dies. I hadn’t seen this video yet so I was completely unprepared. I actually cried over my black horse, Kage. Rest in piece my friend. May you run through endless fields in heaven.
14:47 his scream is so sad, you can tell how much it’s hurting him to have to do this. The performances in this game were god tier. Such a masterpiece.
This game will go down in history as one of the best out there. I loved every minute of it and felt all kind of emotions while playing it. This is gaming at it’s finest.
But Jin's was too, mother and father dead, Lord Shimura possibly killed (relationship gets worse overtime too) Plus how Kage, Nobu or Sora dies, along with Taka. Plus we also know Lord Shimura, Kazumasa Sakai (Jin's Father), the horse, Taka, and sort of Yuriko die right in front of him.
The scene where Jin dedicates himself to the legend of the ghost is so heartbreaking because he surrenders and gives his sword to Yuna and Lord Shimura burns the adoption papers. Ugh I always wish every time I do that mission that just once Jin would stay with shimura, but they can’t win a war the samurai way.
Notice the leaves are red and white like if you killed him you’ll the white ghost armor if you spare him you’ll get the red armor it’s just that I thought that was interesting that’s all
i havent even played the game, but when jin lost himself when shimura was sent by his own hands and Jin screams, then the music. Bloody hell my tears just came out.
these were definitely some tearjerkers. same as Yuriko's tale. I also feel like a lot of people are making the last choice in the game based off of the whole "I am the ghost I am dishonorable" idea set, but the way I see it, that last choice has nothing to do with the way of the samurai or honor or anything like that. it is purely a fight between a son and father. and choosing to spare him is choosing to spit in the face of everything he raised you to be. In killing him, it's less of an "I am an honorable samurai" thing to do, and more of an "I am still the son you raised" kind of thing. the final loving act of a son to his father. to show him that although you did horrible things to save your people, you are still the same person, at heart, the same "honorable" Lord Sakai that was once to be heir the Shimura clan. that's my take anyway.
The second one was so sad, cause you choose the horse that you keep it until now.. shadow you will remembered :/ btw in Skellige I found one pack of horses and used axii to one and mount it, I think I betrayed roach xD
That escaleted way faster than speed of light! Wtf dude!! How dare you dishonor this game... Where exactly in Skellige did you find those rideable horses? Honor me by reply!
When Taka died I just screamed at the screen *DAMN IT TAKA!!!* Then when the horse died I got Rdr2 flashbacks and screamed again *ARE YOU KIDDING ME... NO!! NOT AGAIN!! NOT MY KAGE!!*
I did the same and I also named my Horse Kage and it was black now my Horse is white and named Kaze to honor Kage I named it like that I was so sad when Kage died, I cried
Not gonna lie I had expected the duel between Shimura and Jin the moment he started disapproving of the Ghost. But there was a SMALL part of me that hoped I could choose Sepuku to reclaim my lost honor as one of the endings... sadly there was not so instead I too gave Shimura an honorable end.
I've never felt more bad for a person than Lady Masako. Such unbearable pain. Seeing her hanged children and burying them, her husband's death, her grandchildren and entire family killed and had to bury them, turns out her sister was responsible and had to kill her, being separated from her true love (mai). And now that everything is over, she's truly all alone with no home, waiting for her death.
Am I the only one who felt so sad for Ryuzo when he screamed “Open the gate!”? You could hear the pain in his voice that even though he betrayed them he didn’t want to kill his own people.
I felt full hate for Ryuzo so it wasn't that sad for me. If he would have helped take the castle he would have gotten food and had trusted allies. That and he would choose the straw hats over Jin which was his childhood friend
It's definitely one of the most well-acted scenes IMO. You can tell how shell-shocked he is at the forced act of burning his own people alive at the stake, eyes glazed over and shuffling along like he's in a horrible dream-world. And it's so beuatifully contrasted with Khotun's utter indifference, almost boredom. Love that scene.
Yeah this was a "what did I get myself into" moment for Ryuzo. He wasn't evil, he was desperate and afraid. But he was also remorseful and stubborn. The first act was handled in a brilliant way. They made you expect a Shimura betrayal all the way. Instead, when you turn up at the castle, no straw hats join you. This is also opposite to Act 3 when Shimura does show up and helps fight the Mongols. Shimura and Ryuzo are each other's foils and a representation of the ways of Samurai (devoted to honor and master) and Ronin (fallen samurai with no master nor honor). Jin, as the Ghost, is in-between. Which is why I picked the dapple grey horse after my first one died.
@@seekinpeekin Atleast you said “he chose the straw hats over jin” giving a better sense of betrayal, while most people who think they are moral activists will just say “he chose his family over his homeland”

So you’re telling me I’ve ran my horse off of mountains and he’s also been shot and stabbed multiple times but he dies by two arrows from a samurai, ok then
The ending was the one that made me cry. You don't have many flashbacks or instances to play with Jin's uncle, and i really thought a i didn't care about him. Till i had to make my decision (that took me a solid half an hour). I realize how the story of them is subtle, yet poweful. Losing Lord Shimura and losing the samurai title, is the greatest prove of what Jin sacrificed to save Tsushima. Btw, RIP Sora: the second horse i've seen die in a videogame.

I named my first horse kage too 😄
My first horse was Sora and my second horse was Kage.
@@ritoTM I'm on my second playthrough I'm going to name the second horse kage this time. this playthrough I'm going to try to do the main missions first so I can do all the side missions at the end when he has his little house in the woods
And tears at the end, I chose to kill lord shimura bc that’s what he wanted and would die happy
The ending was the best I have ever seen in a video game. The music is insane, the scenery is incredible and the story behind it aswell, kind of similar to Gehrman in Bloodborne except even worse because youre fighting to the death against your father

This and rdr2 are my favorite endings ever
Tekken 7: We made the best Father Vs. Son Rivalry.
Ghost of Tsushima: Hold my sake.
True, killing Gerhman is just giving mercy to an old man trapped in his prison of guilt and regret. With Shimura either you dishonor him for life by sparing him, or kill him and live with the shame and guilt of killing your father. Fuck this game is a masterpiece.

Well they are right if you choose the white or black horse in a way, for my case the dapple horse i choose is really dead

This game is the reason I will never trust reviews again , even a 9 is a crime
I could see a 9 because while the story itself is great, there are a lot of moments where its repetitive and the same old "sneak/rush your way into a camp, kill the enemies, go back and talk" scheme.

the fact you have to accept being the Ghost hurts, even though it's for the greater good. Having to kill your uncle and father figure hurted even more. Leaving him is worse as he continues to hunt you and the Mongols. What a great, greatly depressing game. I love it. I shall now bury myself in the sadness and recover.
The Jin of the begging, the samurai would accomplish his wish and would killed him but the New Jin, the ghost, would spare his life because he wouldn’t kill his own family despite all and he won’t be more controlled anymore by the samurai code and he will be seen like a traitor for doing the correct without honor. So I didn’t kill him and for me that option is the canon
Renzo Pedemonte I feel the same, Jin rejects samurai code and not killing uncle confirms that his a Ghost now. Killing uncle only would show that Shimura and stupid code is more valuable than the life. Jin sacrificed everything to save the others life
Chu_nky I couldn’t say it better bro, totally agree 👏🏻
@@renzopedemonte NPCs state lord shimura is dead.
Julian Martinez and?
12:04 it’s symbolic how they each write the final haikus at different colored leaves. Plus, if you killed him, the option on the left, you got the white ghost outfit, just like the color of the leaves on the left. If you spared him, the option on the right, you got the red ghost outfit, which are the leaves on the right
I do think there's some interesting dual-symbolism to be found in the Righteous Punishment and Vow of Vengeance skins if you look at eastern cultures:
White represents not just death, but purity in body and mind.
10:18 Let us realize that Jin dug an entire grave for his HORSE with what we can only assume was his sword
he didn't have a sword at that point of the story lol so it's even worse, he did it with his bare hands
His bare hands

@@atastydonut in the freezing cold
Using a sword would be far less efficient than using his bare hands, not to mention that it would be busted to hell and too dull to kill if he treated it like a shovel
Lord Shimura went to that duel knowing full well Jin would best him. He wanted to die because he had lost his son, Jin had been outcast and his clan disbanded.
Metaphorically Lord Shimura wanted both of their clans to die that day. He didn’t want to pass the Shimura mantel down to anyone that wasn’t Jin...

Picking only 3 sad parts from this storyline is extremely difficult
In the sequel they should set it On the mainland where Jin is On the run from the shogun

I got the red armor for sparing him
yeah that’s what I said 😂
Che Nino yeah, red armor stands for a more vicious and honorless ghost(not in a bad way), white armor stands for a more innocent, gentle ghost
I got white armor for killing Shimura and spawned at the house at nighttime.
i havent even played the game, but when jin lost himself when shimura was sent by his own hands and Jin screams, then the music.

That one was hard to watch too.

It was hard and sad, but I feel like her attitude hinted at the fact that she would die soon. Especially the last mission with her where her mind kinda wanders around. While the other deaths are, I feel, a bit more unexpected or sudden
@@swissrecon the fact that you see her inevitable death from way before makes you want to find any way to save her only to realize in the end that it's impossible to do make makes it way sadder that an unexpected death imo
@@ManlyBanana9009 I guess so, but in a way it's not about what you can do to stop the inevitable I think. I took it as I want to make her last moment the best as possible. That's what I understood from Jin playing along when she talked to him using his father's name.
