  • Our very first video...they get much better!
    Providence mines are a group of smaller mines and one large mine to the East of Greenwood just a short walk from town. Lighting is a little poor underground but we have new lights ordered and will be shooting some new mines soon.

    My first video......they get better! The first thing I found was an old skip used on an inclined rail. The second thing was a steam boiler.

      ........@@exploringabandonedmines........Like night and day................... cameras and lighting are superb... outside the mine, and inside the mine! As a (mostly) hard rock Well driller in the Sierra foot hills near the Feather River Canyon for 48 years, I love to see what I've drilled thru and what I haven't had the opportunity to drill thru, thanks!

    Hi Frank, just been watching through two seasons of videos backwards over a couple of weeks lol and now here.
    Subscribed and thumbed up all the videos as I really enjoy your mining adventures and seeing this video with a tiny torch really shows how your channel begun and how you can have a great mine to explore but without good lighting its really difficult to get across how interesting these old mines are, but glad you quickly got better lighting in the following video's. Keep up the great work!!:-)

      Hi, I was shocked to see when you flipped over your plane! The way you was talking about it and then panned the camera round and there it was upside down was priceless, I didn't know if to laugh at that silly little wire fence you hit or cry, but glad you were not hurt! The drone footage is great, really gives us an idea of scale and how much area some of these mines sprawled over. But any plans on another plane in the future for more surveying?

    Frank, the tunnel you speak of at the 3 min. mark, is that the portal you see from the highway just to the east of Greenwood? We drove by a few weeks ago on our way to look at the old Greenwood smelter and thought it was part of an old railroad. Didn't realise it was a path to the old mines.

    • @exploringabandonedmines
      @exploringabandonedmines  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it is a railroad tunnel not a portal. The mines are above that to the south. The Elkhorn fraction and the Providence behind that.

    i live right by here.there is another hiden mine by the field under the power line's just off to the right going up the hill to the east . at 49.1126931,-118.6673739,397 . never been in it but there is a decent waste rock pile and a small cabin outside of it

    • @exploringabandonedmines
      @exploringabandonedmines  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I remember a small pile of waste rock there but I didn't see a cabin or an adit. Lots of other small mines closer to the highway. Thanks for the info!
