Grew up in Grand Forks and it makes me so happy seeing a video like this. Thanks so much for exploring these gems and bringing light to the places we are so familiar with. I love to see people enjoy the experience that is this area. Hopefully you got the chance to interact with some locals. The people are the spirit of the Boundary country.
Hi Anna, thank you so much for the feedback and yes the people are amazing here. Btw, we are heading back soon to do a follow up video and hope to meet with the locals and share more incredible gems of the Boundary. Please let us know what we can do to improve on next video. As well, what would you like to see more of from the Boundary? Our direct contact is in our About Us page on the channel. Cheers, Tom & Suzanne
Hi Guys! Good to see you again 🙂👍. Thank You for taking us on an informative journey through a region of the province that we are not familiar with. That was a really nice mix of information and beautiful footage👍. See you in the next one. All the best, Michelle and Holger 🙏
Hi Michelle and Holger! Hey, thanks for the comments and watching this one. Great to hear from you guys. We've been so busy with work to create content, this video was done September 2023. Also, we need to catch up on your channel, always a great watch for us. Congrats to you both for the growth and content! Keep up the great work and we'll catch you on the next one! Tom & Suzanne.
Hey Tom and Suzanne it has been a while and you have been busy. Great job sharing this area your drone footage during your drives and of the chimney , bridge and lakes all the locations were well filmed. Enjoyed your hike at the beginning great B roll showing yourselves as you hiked. That town was cute the desserts looked amazing and the dinner you made the steak looked yummy. You did a great job with your facts at all the locations. That cemetery was full of history. Thanks for the tour of all these places nice job filming ,editing and well executed with sharing all the information!!
Thank you so much for your kind words and watching this one. Ps we are just back from the Boundary area and will have more locations and interesting history to share soon. Cheers, Tom & Suzanne
I know the boundary and East Kootenay quite well and never miss a chance to use highway 3 so I can feel the pulse of area. (it is very weak) I first became became acquainted with the area in early 1970 just after Dave Barrett electoral defeat. His drastic environment rules managed to scare the miming promoters from BC for the lawless underdeveloped countries where anythings can be done. As a young geologist I had been hired by Slocan Ottawa mines limited which had a producing? Silver mine with workforce of 2 doukhobors on contract in an addict above Slocan. My mandate was business development scouting for mining opportunities. A phone call from the president of San Jacinto mining and exploration proposing a meeting to discuss mining projects send me to Boundary district . A meeting was held at the greenwood hotel in Greenwood the next day .The president was Dodo MacLean the vice president geology herb shear from New york city. Our multi cars convoy went to the Slocan valley above Sandon to evaluate their land which had very good before they were mined out. Based at the newly renovated Province Hotel in Grand Forks with the bar been the field office I spent the next six months visiting crawling in depleted adits. The more promising had Cominco the whole thing was hopeless so I bailed out of BC for good went to work in Quebec Appalachian as underground geologist at the King beaver asbestos mine in Thetford mines. Shortly later I quitted when i realised I was claustrophobe. My stay in the boundary district was memorable for friendships with many of the residents Dodo MacLain stayed in Greenwood Hotel. Gigi Rossi a prospector from Grand Forks a man so kind I could not understand how he was surviving in this cut throat business, Terry the barmaid of the province hotel ths best barmaid ever. Bill Purich (rattlesnake Bill) the prospector whom for years operated a rattle snake farm for many until bitten by one became terrified of snakes. He owned the mining rights of a superb property above pauson bridge. Their is long list of good memorable friends. Back to your video. I have never been to the Phoenix pit and was very interested by your clear coverage. The Greenwood hotel ownership is cleared and the interior is been totally rebuilt. My last trip was 2 years ago and it is a big Job. In fact I think Greenwood is on the rebound with a touristic vocation. Your smelter coverage is unbelievable. My last stop in Grand Fork was painful I never realized the flood had done so much damage and the new one so far is mediocre. For the time been I live In Calgary so one lives in the middle of nowhere nothing is far. Thanks again
