I mean I’m pretty sure my first references to her were this movie and in Freaky Friday: “I look like Stevie Nicks” “Who’s he?” (To be fair I was born in 97 and I saw both as a young kid when they came out)
Mike White, who played the real Ned, was Jack Black's neighbour. He had an idea to write a movie about Jack in a band with kids, he pitched it to Jack before he started writing it.
Apparently the kid that plays Lawrence actually was insecure about his part, and even asked if maybe he shouldn't be in it. And it was apparently that exact insecurity that made him perfect for the part.
Sometimes I think how the hell did you never watched this movies but at the same time I’m grateful that I can see you watching it for the first time hahahah
I highly recommend looking up the School of Rock 10 year reunion and giving that a watch... It's really sweet.... Also, R.I.P. Kevin Clark, (aka Freddy)
The actor for Zack is in jail for stealing guitars from a guitar store 😬 the owners even knew he was from the movie and said "If he just asked we would've given him a guitar for free"
I can honestly say I have no idea how many times I've watched this movie. Over and over and over. I was basically the same age as all the actors when it came out. This is definitely a classic!
Omg when she said “she did a Stevie Nicks, impersonation” Seb “who’s that?” Omg that just my heart stop, Seb you gotta learn the greatness of Stevie Nicks and the bad Fleetwood Mack she was in, your enjoy it ❤
This movie was my childhood. It came out right as my brother and I were entering our teenage years. We watched this movie on repeat. I could quote almost the entirety of it now. My brother and I and a few of our friends inspired to our own band after this movie. It didn’t really last long, but it was fun.
I've seen this movie at least 20 times and it never gets old. when you said "who's that?" at the mention of Stevie Nicks, I was shook. I sometimes forget how young you are lol 😂
this ovie is built into my DNA at this point it's the reason i know about any classic rock bands. i wanted to be these kids so bad, and i still kinda do! such a classic movie, glad you enjoyed a massive part of so many of our childhoods
It’s been a year or two since we’ve put our dvd player in our storage but every once in a while it gets brought out again. And every time we do I’ll go to the big bag of dvds that contained all the movies from my childhood and school of rock would be one of my go to’s for a rewatch. Watching this made me wanna rewatch all my childhood movies again lol
3:06 to answer this, I believe the reason the movie gave was that the teacher broke her leg from slipping in the bathroom. Originally they were going to have Dewey run over the teacher, but this was scrapped.
One of my favorite movies! It came out when I was 12 and I was OBSESSED!!! I got an electric guitar (BC Rich Warlock) when I was 10 and I taught myself how to play from tabs online. I had always loved rock since I was born, my mom used to play Nirvana in the car and I would bounce in my car seat and cry when the song would end on the radio so my mom bought me the Unplugged in New York album to play to drive around and lull me to sleep with and she had always played 70s and 80s rock in the house so I already knew a lot of the songs on the soundtrack but I also discovered new songs through this movie and it made me even more interested in rock. I've always wanted to take a history of rock class like he has on the whiteboard listing the different genres and what bands fall into those categories. This movie is so nostalgic for me, I love Jack Black! and RIP to the actor who plays Freddie, I always liked him and Zach the most ❤️
They did a ten year reunion in 2013, the footage is on TH-cam. All the band got back together and played on stage, they even played The Legend of The Rent
“I’ll be good I swearrrr!!!” Every time my friends tell me off. If only supply was that easy and you didn’t have to take your dbs, passport and teaching qualifications everywhere. And you’re write. As a teacher I worked 7am-10pm minimum every school day and pretty much the same weekends and holidays
There’s a video of all of them reuniting for the 10th (I think) anniversary for the movie and they play Zacks song. It’s great to see all the kids grown up, and not losing their touch.
This movie is such a good childhood movie. As a kid I met the real school of rock and they played at the Zappanalie which I have been to quite a few times with my family and played at, my dad is big on Zappa, wrote on and spoke on him so that's at least partly why. will be fun to see your reaction.
What an absolute classic!!! & It's so funny you're watching this since last night I was playing a game of hangman with some Co-workers & I had them guess, "School Of Rock", for one of the rounds 💕 Can't wait to see how much you love this one
This movie is an absolute jam I’m so sad I missed out when I was a kid but I definitely had too much fun watching it now😭long live Rock n Rock🤘we stick it to the man🤣🤣🔥😭
As a kid I used to mistake School of Rock and Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny simply because of Jack Black being in a band, playing a guitar with both movies having similar names in my language
Such a cute movie! I saw it with ny family when it came out in theaters and I loved it! I always forget how heartwarming it is though, until I start to tear up whenever I rewatch it lol
1:54 i thought you were gonna say something along the lines of “i really do feel for the people who are ugly” with how your reaction to that scene went 😭💀
Dude this movie made me bruh. My mom always a big fan of rock music, been listening to it since I can't even remember. My mom listens to rock music ever since i was in a womb. And this movie made me pickup my guitar at the age of 8. No regret I'd say.
Fun fact they had to beg Led Zeppelin to include Immigrant Song in this movie. Jack Black and all the cast and crew made a video for them and they saw the video clip and they loved it. It’s very hard to get the royalties to Led Zeppelin’s music to be included in films
Such a great movie…the cast reunited for a show a few years ago for a concert and the videos are amazing. (Also, If I could recommend a movie…watch Scooby Doo on Zombie Island, best Scooby Doo movie ever made)
The end where Ned is teaching those kids isn't really him trying to copy Dewey or find his own band of kids. He just realized that he can be a teacher without him having to give up his dream of music. What's crazy is that he probably makes significantly less money this way because it was already implied he had a really good resume and everything so really goes to show how much music meant to him too.
I swear Jack Black is so awesome. He's a bit of a goofball. I am loving his version of Brittney's Baby Hit Me One More Time. I really hope there's a cover album released. 18:03 there is a movie called Accepted, that goes into a similar plot but focused on college students. It is hilarious and there are some big namers in it and it really makes you wish colleges were like that.
Thanks for the comment about the teachers!! 😇Yes, there is a lot of work to bring back home. Not all people think that way... 🙃 Great video by the way!! (as usual 🤣)
Oh c’mon, the ending is one of the best bits. Seeing Jack black with the kids basically just having fun and seeing them kind of break character. You should have included it. But yes great movie. One thing I loved was the kids a few times using basic swear words. 100% realistic. But I don’t think they could do that today.
Idk how many times I have watched this movie but a lot because I love this movie!! 😂 You should watch Drillbit Taylor its got Troy Gentile (he was young Nacho Libre)
R.I.P. to the kid who played Freddy (kid on the drums).
This is how I find out? 😭 Had the biggest crush on him when I was younger
@@JerASMR Yeah he died in 2021, he was hit by a car while riding his bike I believe.
Oh my god 😢that’s sad I had no idea
He was a nice guy, saw him do a show in Chicago
@@Jaden_The_CelestialOMG!😢 my dog got hit by a car 6 years ago. RIP.
“She did a Stevie Nicks impersonation”
“Who’s that?”
Oooof that hurt😭
Yeah, Seb really needs to listen to some Fleetwood Mac.
lol paused and scrolled down immediately to see if anyone else was flabbergasted. WHO IS STEVIE NICKS!? Love ya Seb, but come on mate.
I mean I’m pretty sure my first references to her were this movie and in Freaky Friday: “I look like Stevie Nicks” “Who’s he?” (To be fair I was born in 97 and I saw both as a young kid when they came out)
@@anabritelora it makes it more confusing that the name Lindsay Buckingham sounds like a woman’s name to me.
It’s hurts but later on he says edge of seventeen is such a tune…
The kids did know how to sing and play instruments. They were more musicians than actors when auditioning
That’s called autism (Joking, kinda)
This was one of those "watch multiple times a day" movies for me when I was younger. I still remember all the dialogue in order....
Same. Watched the hell out of it as a kid, still do when it's on as an adult.
Literally same
i remember 1 week where i watched nothing but this as a kid.
Me too. Probably why I’m so rebellious
same!!
RIP Kevin Clark the kid on the drums :(
School of Rock is the kind of movie you can always just watch, easy and comfortable all the way through and you'll feel good afterwards.
"You're tacky and I hate you" is such a classic line
Fun fact: the lead singer of Dewey’s band is the original Roger in RENT (& the movie). No wonder he’s over Dewey’s antics 😂
Ahhh no wonder y he looked familiar! Nice, Roger made it 🙌🙌😆
Producer : "Ok Jack for this movie you will just need to be yourself"
Jack Black : "Where do i sign up?"
Jack Black is like Chris Pratt where he plays himself but in a good way
They quite literally wrote this movie with the idea of Jack Black starring in it from the get go 😂
Mike White, who played the real Ned, was Jack Black's neighbour. He had an idea to write a movie about Jack in a band with kids, he pitched it to Jack before he started writing it.
And now Mike White is the creator of White Lotus.
@@TheDivayenta Yes, he is a very talented filmmaker :)
Apparently the kid that plays Lawrence actually was insecure about his part, and even asked if maybe he shouldn't be in it.
And it was apparently that exact insecurity that made him perfect for the part.
The kid who played Zack also got arrested for stealing guitars. Very fitting for his character in this film by the end 😂🤘🏻
You’re not hardcore unless you live hardcore
OMG you’re right I just looked it up. That’s crazy.
This will forever be one of those movies that I revisit every single year. Absolute banger. 🔥
Sometimes I think how the hell did you never watched this movies but at the same time I’m grateful that I can see you watching it for the first time hahahah
“Oh my god, he’s an idiot!” I quote Sarah Silverman in this movie daily 😭
REAL
I highly recommend looking up the School of Rock 10 year reunion and giving that a watch... It's really sweet....

The actor for Zack is in jail for stealing guitars from a guitar store 😬 the owners even knew he was from the movie and said "If he just asked we would've given him a guitar for free"
Damnn
Dammit😂 honestly didn’t expect that from ol Zack
:(
He led the house band for the TV version of Jesus Christ Superstar! 😢
In case you didnt notice, the band right before they played at the end, is Deweys previous Band.
Ms Mullins Is voiced by the same actress who voiced Jessie in the Toy Story franchise.
Wow that's trippy I've never noticed that

In the US we actually have a School of Rock locations for children learning music, which was spawned off of this movie.
Miranda's song at the beginning was from cats, made by Andrew lloyd webber. Who then went and made this movie into a musical.
Miranda could actually sing well. She had to sing fast and off key and it was hard for her
This movie was my childhood. It came out right as my brother and I were entering our teenage years. We watched this movie on repeat. I could quote almost the entirety of it now. My brother and I and a few of our friends inspired to our own band after this movie. It didn’t really last long, but it was fun.
This is really good timing considering Kung Fu Panda 4 comes out today, another movie with Jack Black in it!
One of my childhood favorites. To this day my buddy and I do the “let’s rock let’s rock” ending to a handshake.
I’m on like 6th rewatch and it never gets old

9:40 How am I just noticing now he's using Angus Young's guitar! LOL.
Mike white's inspiration for this movie was from when he lived next door to Jack black, and he'd be blasting his music at all hours in the morning

Fun Fact about the text on the dvd cover: it's actually the font made famous by Rolling Stone magazine

I've seen this movie atleast a dozen times and I've never noticed the "tactical tissues" in the bed 😂😂😂
Another Jack Black film that's totally underrated and doesn't get enough love that you should check out is "Tenacious D the pick of destiny"

Zacks solo at the end is the same one he was humming earlier.
