My grandmother was in labor, in the hospital, when the 1st year intern detected a second heartbeat....they didn't know she was having twins until the intern caught it when she was in first stage labor.
I had my first child in a teaching hospital in the 90s. I’ll never forget hearing “Oops” as my episiotomy was about to be performed and the supervising doctor rushing in saying “No, not like that.” Those are not the words you want to hear at that time.
I love teaching hospitals, my second son was delivered by a student. He was her first boy, and she was so attentive and capable. She was supervised all the way through and I was really proud to be part of her process of learning.
same! I love being part of their classes. I love when they listen carefully to our stories and I always try to teach them to teach us. I love being a homework. That's it.
I had it one time they asked if it was ok to have a small group watch me give birth for their class I was like ya so glad I did the dr turn around to get something one student step up got my baby and put him on my chest before the dr even turned back my baby would of been on the floor it it wasn’t for her she came and cleaned on me later I will never forget her and I’m sure she will have a story for the rest of her life to 😊 my hero 🦸♀️
I had interns do one of my catheters and one even stayed late to finally see the birth. It was funny hearing them check my dilating because they under estimated by a lot. I was at an 8, they were guessing 3 or 4. Had to go back a few times for them to understand what it felt like, obviously I okayed that first. Lol. They were great and I loved being part of their learning too!
Same! I was the first c section patient for one of them and the first patient to let the other place an IV. I've been a student before, I know how valuable that experience is!
When my sister was born, she had six toes on one of her feet. My dad likes to recall how when he told his boss that his wife had a baby so he wasn't coming into work, his boss was like "oh, 10 fingers, 10 toes?" and my dad was like "...not exactly."
Nor are prenatal diagnoses of the pregnancy timeline and due date necessarily a promise. There was an episode of paternity court, where the due date that the OBGYN estimated for the mother was a moving target as pregnancy progressed. This was the source of doubt in Father A's mind, and the mother admitted that Father B is also a possibility. The judge called on an expert to give an explanation for the due dates being a moving target, and what the likely conception date was, based on those facts. The expert identified the timeline indicated Father B would be most likely, but Father A ended up actually being the father.

I had two episodes last year, both had to be taken out via ureteroscopy. Worst pain I’ve ever been in, at it’s height IV oxy wasn’t even helping 😫 the stones themselves were actually really small (2-3mm) so I should have been able to pass them with maybe some extra fluids but my damn urethers are apparently super narrow so had to get knocked out to get them fished out. Wouldn’t wish them on my worst enemy
My closest thing to labor that wasn't labor is severe menstrual cramps. I could literally feel contraction after contraction on top of an already painful, crampy baseline. This was back when I was 18 and it was only ever this bad once. The best way I could describe it is "low mid-abdominal, pulsating pain, almost like a heartbeat". I was literally crying cause I was cramping so much. Having had menstrual contractions that strong, I'm scared of how intense labor is going to be if I do ever get pregnant. In comparison, the kidney stone that I once had was nothing like that one super painful bout of menstrual cramps. Only reason I knew it was a stone is because the pain was moving, slowly, about an inch down my back a day. By day 4, I had no pain at all upon waking up, meaning it went into my bladder. And then my morning urine was sandy, meaning that it just spontaneously dissolved.

I would love to see tour reaction to Rachel’s delivery. 36+ hours after water breaking and the baby ends up breech. Every time I watch it I think “malpractice!!”
Not knowing baby is breach isn't great but 36hrs after water breaking isn't unusual, although different hospitals have different policies on how long to wait to deliver baby once membranes rupture.
@@holleyalexandra1637 My mom was a lucky one. She was only in labor with me for 7 hours, and I was her first baby. I was also on the small side. My best friend was apparently the opposite. Her mom was in labor for 30+ hours. When she was swapping birth stories with my mom and heard how easy my birth was, she turned to my friend and said, "Why couldn't you have been more like your friend here?" (She was joking, of course.)
Comedy drama vs nitty gritty. Lol There's a multiple birth in Call the Midwife - Series One, Episode Six. I'd love to see your React video for that one!
Kai de Lyons I’ve watched both her call the midwives reacts multiple times already-I’d LOVE it if she just did the entire series!!! Ooh- She could do an actual Live marathon of them all... (you know, when she wasn’t busy delivering babies or being a mum 😹)
I finished my OB rotation for nursing school and our clinical instructor told us in the beginning to watch that show because it is accurate. Never watched it but it sounds cool!
I remember one delivery where there were like 15 people in the room-family, friends, even several children around 8-10. As an RT, we only go to high risk deliveries. Can't remember what this one was, but I remember thinking how unsafe it was. It was certainly chaotic, 2 people were filming, one with a tripod. Kids running around, I noticed one dude pulled out a flask-grandpa I think, he was just over in a corner looking disgruntled. Crazy.
New subscriber here! I love your channel. I'm a first time mom - just had a preemie baby born March 8 at only 28 weeks! He weighed just 2 pounds 11 ounces. Today he's 5 months actual, 12 pounds and doing great!
I agree with everyone saying react to Rachel’s birth!! She was breech and they didn’t figure it out until she was pushing-after 24 hrs of labor! 🤔🤔 but ended up delivering vaginal breech- first baby!
I don't know how I got here either, but I'm 21 weeks pregnant and love your channel! I've learned so much and feel much calmer about my upcoming labor. Thank you for the quality content!
I had a really young looking doctor. She looked even younger scrubbed up for surgery. BEST doctor I've ever had. (She was an Gyn oncologist (not for cancer don't worry but it had a small chance to be))
I know patient confidentiality is #1 so I would never want you to divulge specifics about people, but I would be curious about some of your experiences with things like Surrogacy or Mothers who give their babies up for adoption. What is the emotional process like from a doctor’s POV?
I agree! I am an adopted mother and would love to see more recognition for women who are brave and self-sacrificing enough to make an adoption plan. Also, I have been told about how poorly they can be treated by nurses and doctors who don't agree with their decision (thankfully this was not my daughter's birth mother's experience). It would be great to educate on this. Creating an adoption plan should not be shameful, it should be respected.
@@SuperMrsMar i can imagine that. I've had an abortion (great decision, the boyfriend was a terrible person who endet up treating me very badly) and the nurses wouldn't even look at me and refused to hand me a tissue when i did realise what i've done and bawled like crazy. Medical professionals should not treat any woman like that.
@@nalomelimaia I'm so sorry this happened to you. Sending virtual hugs your way. And I am proud of you for getting out of such a bad relationship, I hope you are healing well.
I don't know how it looks from the doctor's perspective but I know that lots of hospitals are very sensitive to this. Some places have specific stickers for the rooms/charts of mothers who are going to have adoptions so that they are aware and can make sure to be supportive or careful with their words.
React to the birth of Edward in the Tudors! I’m super interested to see what you’d have to say about how Jane dies and the medicine practiced in that period
I would have enjoyed some information about the biology of surrogacy, like dealing with those postpartum hormones while having to give up the baby/babies but I loved this episode regardless, thanks for posting It!
Or the legality of surrogacy. In my country for example the surrogate could keep the children even though the babies would not be biologically hers under current laws in my understanding (and surrogacy isn’t common here). And my understanding is that in US the children would be legally the bio parents children immediately.
I sooo love that even after delivered sooo many babies and watching a fake delivery on screen and still get moved, means you love your job and didn't loose your empathy. You are one of the good doctors ❤️
It is just a way of beginning the show - that explains labor and delivery. Technically she doesn't k own why all the parents decided to get together and have a baby so at least doesn't know the why of where they came from
This Friends episode always makes me cry. Pheobe is such a precious character and such a good friend for helping her brother and his wife have children. I can't imagine the anguish of growing not one but three babies inside me and then giving away all of them. Ugh! This is a great reaction video, btw.
I loved being in a teaching hospital with my cancer! They had the most up to date treatments, trials, etc i was very well taken care of and I learned a lot with them myself! It was such a blessing!
you should do silliest questions asked while pregnant lol i love my husband but he is daft when it comes to pregnancy. ob/gyn "you have a uti miss and we will send the medications to the local pharmacy" my husband "does that mean shes not pregnant?"
Reminds me of my fiance when I was pregnant with our first daughter. After doing some online research about pregnancy he choose to say "Your boobs are gonna get bigger!" I have decided to never let him live that down. Lol
The doctor who delivered my first was awful. I had never met him once (the practice was so large that I only met each doctor one time). He augmented my labor for no reason, made me push when the epidural was so high that I was too numb to feel contractions, and refused to tell me how bad the tearing was (it took me two months to heal). When I got pregnant again, I went to a new practice...they cared more, there were 5 of them so I saw them multiple times), and when I went into labor they were very hands off in a good way. I didn’t feel rushed the way I did the first time. I was very glad I switched instead of staying with the first practice.
I adore your facial expressions! Your kids must know you very well. I'm waiting for your next video. Have you seen the delivery in Robin Hood (1991), I was a kid when I saw it and it pretty much traumatized me.
Loving this series so far! There's another multiple birth in the last season of Friends - when Monica and Chandler's babies are born. That would be a good one to react to as well!!
Stumbled upon your channel the other day and I’m hooked!!! So educational yet interesting for me as a med student! Thank you and please keep doing what you are doing!!
I had a 3rd degree tear with my first baby, and a 2 hour surgical repair. Honestly, everything is the same as it was before. It can be scary when it happens but it doesn't mean that it can't be fixed.
Tara we can’t really tell you how many stitches because they are not individual stitches. It’s more like a running stitch that joins things together, it’s hard to describe. Better to ask how many packed of sutures they went through.
I had a 4th degree as well. They had to leave the room twice for new sutures. I was badly anemic and they couldnt stop the bleeding. I swear they pulled a whole damn roll of paper towels out of me later 😂
Did your rectum tear? Can you still see scars? Do you have full feeling there? How long did it take to feel completely normal? Was it painful or difficult to walk around, sit down etc.?
I love your commentary. I just had my 2nd son seven weeks ago and I can relate to so much that you're talking about lol. I like learning about birth from the medical side :)

I love how Mama Doctor Jones insinuated that at her hospital someone might get “stuck” with her as their doctor for delivery. Meanwhile practically all of us would be enthusiastic as hell to have her as our doctor. 😁 Just rewatching some videos, thanks for your educational contribution to TH-cam!

Not knowing baby is breach isn't great but 36hrs after water breaking isn't unusual, although different hospitals have different policies on how long to wait to deliver baby once membranes rupture.
My mom was in labor for about 35ish hours with me. Apparently, I just didn't want to come out.
My mom was in labor for 38 hours with me, just couldn’t dilate enough to get my fat baby body out and they finally said let’s just do a C-Sectiond
Also the last one where Erica thinks she’s giving birth to one kid, but ends up giving birth to twins
Seeing Dr Jones being like omg there's so many of you! like 100 thousand of you 3yrs on when she has 1.26million subscribers makes me happy
Love it! Next react to the birth at the end of Knocked Up. Seemed realistic to me!
YESSSSSS. But Idk if she can do that because of TH-cam's rules
Just watched that last night!!! I always wonder how realistic it was
Everything but her perfectly mowed lady parts were pretty realistic
It was close but that baby was enormous lmao...
@@AmbyJeans She was probably waxed lol
"Does he have a kidney stone?" Knowing what those characters eat, probably.
Hm... I always imagined Monica cooking a lot and giving it out to Joey and Chandler. And their pizzas were just occasional
@@drdrdrk to be fair Joey would always eat things that weren't good for him but the lack of water is what probably caused kidney stones
I love it when TV babies are born the size of 3 or 4 month old babies. 😂😂 It’s amazing those women can walk afterwards! Lol!
That's legal minimum.
OMG... I just realized that Frank's wife is the mom from That 70's Show!!!!!
Wait really
That’s really cool I didn’t know that
Kitty Foreman.
And the intern is Hodgnes from Bones!
Yup
Comedy drama vs nitty gritty. Lol
There's a multiple birth in Call the Midwife - Series One, Episode Six. I'd love to see your React video for that one!
Or just that entire series!! Obsessed and she would probably have some great stuff to share prompted by the old school way of delivering children
@@rachelaimeemateya I mean, I would watch each and every single video of that, not gonna lie.
Kai de Lyons I’ve watched both her call the midwives reacts multiple times already-I’d LOVE it if she just did the entire series!!! Ooh- She could do an actual Live marathon of them all... (you know, when she wasn’t busy delivering babies or being a mum 😹)
I've watched that whole series twice now
I finished my OB rotation for nursing school and our clinical instructor told us in the beginning to watch that show because it is accurate.
Crazy.
Your quick "Toe to baby ratio" story had me happy cry. Too sweet.
I actually switched my doctors about 5 months into my pregnancy and it was one of the best decisions I made
Phoebe actually wasn't induced, her water broke at the end of the previous episode.
My grandma last baby came butt 1st she got hurt very bad. But I think my uncle didn't suffer an injuries. So it can happen
I feel super comfortable and safe around Mama Dr. Jones, I don’t know why but she’s just so kind and reminds me of my mom. Thank you!
I'm from south africa and I am living in Taiwan ❤️😊 you've helped me not be so scared of gynecologists. Thank you 😊
You should totally do a reaction to Grey’s Anatomy 9x24 of Meredith giving birth in the dark!!
Yes!!!!
Omg that one was so intense! I’d love to see her react to it
Yes!
My son ended up at a teaching hospital when he was just over a year for post viral ataxia. The "students" were so amazing and attentive.
I don't know how I got here either, but I'm 21 weeks pregnant and love your channel! I've learned so much and feel much calmer about my upcoming labor. Thank you for the quality content!
"Go little boy, Go!"
I also love the episode where Rachel has Emma!
I had 28 kidney stones so we always say "kidney stones" like the doctor Joey has!
28?! 😮
@@sarasamaletdin4574 well, that's not really what this channel is about, is it. You can certainly find that information online more easily.
I sooo love that even after delivered sooo many babies and watching a fake delivery on screen and still get moved, means you love your job and didn't loose your empathy. You are one of the good doctors ❤️
you are such a natural actress coupled with an amazing amount of knowledge. Not to mention your sense of humor. This makes for my favorite channel!!
One of my favs. Lisa Kudrow was so great in that last seen. Maybe because she was becoming (or had just become) a mom herself.
i cry every time i watch this episode. pheobe crying when she's holding those babies just breaks my heart
Her: "idk where you came from."
Me: "where did you come from? Where did you go? Where did you come from, Cotton Eye Joe?" 😂
I'm a 21 year old man and I can't stop watching these videos lol. Fantastic channel!!!
You can tell how much you love your job and how passionate you are you even smile when somebody on a TV show delivers 😍
"Idk Where you came from" says the obgyn 😂
It is just a way of beginning the show - that explains labor and delivery. Technically she doesn't k own why all the parents decided to get together and have a baby so at least doesn't know the why of where they came from
@@stefanieprejean6609 sorry don't really understand your response but in my comment I was just being sarcastic thanks for trying to explain anyway
@@monicareyna2116 That's okay - it doesn't matter. I do like this woman though - she has a great personality

This Friends episode always makes me cry. Pheobe is such a precious character and such a good friend for helping her brother and his wife have children. I can't imagine the anguish of growing not one but three babies inside me and then giving away all of them. Ugh! This is a great reaction video, btw.
I tore pretty bad. It hurt pretty bad a year after when I peed and sex was still painful. It's no joke for some of us.
I loved being in a teaching hospital with my cancer! They had the most up to date treatments, trials, etc i was very well taken care of and I learned a lot with them myself! It was such a blessing!
you should do silliest questions asked while pregnant lol i love my husband but he is daft when it comes to pregnancy.
ob/gyn "you have a uti miss and we will send the medications to the local pharmacy"
my husband "does that mean shes not pregnant?"
Reminds me of my fiance when I was pregnant with our first daughter. After doing some online research about pregnancy he choose to say "Your boobs are gonna get bigger!" I have decided to never let him live that down. Lol
@@KoyashuOokami lmao!
Hahaha bless his soul, my husband also thought that the sex of the baby could change based on what I ate and drank until the parts formed.

I love how shocked you are every time about your # of subscribers! That's just the outcome of a good product! hahaha Keep the vids comin!
React to the two other birth scenes from Friends, Rachel birthing Emma and the women (dont recall her name) birthing Chandler and Monica's child
This was so cute! You laughed at the same parts I always laugh at. I've seen the whole series a million times.
I really look up to you when considering becoming an Ob/gyn.
I'm a medical student. You inspire me to consider Ob/Gyn lol
Best of luck to both of you on your OB/GYN journey!!
Chalchiuhtlicue thanks ❤️❤️❤️
“There’s so many of you!”
Well, you helped deliver hundreds and even thousands of us. So, that’s why. 😁
I adore your facial expressions! Your kids must know you very well. I'm waiting for your next video. Have you seen the delivery in Robin Hood (1991), I was a kid when I saw it and it pretty much traumatized me.
You have such a beautiful smile! Thank you for using your education and platform to teach people. You're great!
I had a 4th degree with my first... the doc wouldn't even tell me how many stitches I had. It healed better than the stitches from my homebirth.
@@emmamattingly2471 That's horrible! I always tear (pregnant with #5), but I'm not a bad bleeder. I cant imagine dealing with both!
Did your rectum tear? Can you still see scars? Do you have full feeling there? How long did it take to feel completely normal? Was it painful or difficult to walk around, sit down etc.?
This was so great! Hope you do Rachel's labor/delivery and Erica's twin birth for Monica & Chandler.

I remember with my son after my first OB/GYN Appointment my hubby and I absolutely hated our doctor. So we requested a new one. And we got insanely lucky to get my OB she is amazing and I will be with her for as long as possible. I think you two would seriously get along so well.

I wanted to hear her thoughts on the fact that “Chandlers a girl”. The mis read of the sonogram.
Just wondering, how common are vaginal triplet deliveries? Have you ever done or seen one?
not common. It's very risky.
Have always thought that.. no way would she have had a natural birth for triplets.
Also they would most definitely be premature.. not necessarily in a life threatening sense, but it would be most likely!
When I was pregnant with my first child, I binged on every single birth video I could find out there. There was a woman in Australia that carried her triplets to FULL TERM and delivered each one vaginally with no epidural!
@@AmbyJeans yeah. There's a couple on TH-cam who had triplets less than a year ago and the mother carried them to about 37 or 38 weeks! She planned for a c-section early on though.

Have you ever delivered Triplets?
Leah Mae No, she clearly states that she had twins not triplets.
