There are also many Doctor Who references in the animated show Miraculous. From a door that looks like the TARDIS, to a time hub that is full of round things and is said to be bigger on the inside. We can also hear the daleks in the distance once.

    • @Shadowwolf34965
      @Shadowwolf34965 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yes, the Tardis Door is seen in the bedroom of Alya Césaire (Marinette/Ladybug's Best Friend), often seen in the background if she's doing a video for her LadyBlog. And the time hub round things in Bunnix's Burrow. Her Rabbit Miraculous is also a Pocket Watch which when not in use disguises to looks like it could be a nod to a Timelord Fob Watch. Just sharing some additional details for if they need any reference on what to look for if they do a 3rd video.

@@Shadowwolf34965 What I completely missed that! I had no idea the white sphere with circles inside was nodding to the tardis. The time travel aspect just slipped my mind.

The best Doctor Who reference ever is in Community. The show has its unique version of Doctor Who, called "Inspector Space-Time" and it's recurrent throughout the series, as the main characters love it.

    • @makrostheblack4791

It's not just recurrent throughout Community... there is actually a full couple of seasons right here on TH-cam. They were working on a movie as well. Haven't heard anything about it in a while though.

It is a phone booth. It even says "Police Public Call Box" at the top of each side. There was a dedicated phone line to the nearest station connected to a receiver behind the small hatch, and the original boxes were also sturdy enough to use as a temporary cell, given that they were made of concrete.

    Another great video!
My favourite Doctor Who nod is in Derry Girls s2 when James turns up to take Erin to the school dance dressed in a suit, bow tie and Fourth Doctor Scarf.
I also loved when David Tennant did a sketch with Catherine Tate as Lauren Cooper where he is the new English teacher. Of course, Doctor Who references and jokes ensue. Can't wait to see the two of them on the show again!!!

My all time favorite is in Call the Midwife. Sister Monica Joan is obsessed. With the show set in the 50s and 60s, we see the classic black and white opening and theme. Not to be outdone, in the 13th Doctor episode The Tsuranga Conundrum, Graham and Ryan try to help a pregnant man in labor, Ryan wonders what help Graham could give. He tells him he never missed an episode of Call the Midwife because his wife loved it.

A most unexpected Dr Who reference is in the 4th episode of the 4th season of CSI-New York, "Time's up". The team investigate the death of a scientist who allegedly invented a time machine. At one point during the episode the TARDIS sound can unmistakably be heard.

I just saw Mark Sheppard this past weekend. He said Canton almost joined Team TARDIS for a longer run, but his schedule didn’t permit it at the time. Mark is open to return, tho!
Dan Harmon created the early web channel, Channel 101, which featured Chris Tallman’s series Time Belt. It was a love letter to the series, and even the titular Time Belt was made with cardboard and foil. Chris would later cameo on the Community episode featuring a convention homage to that series’ own Doctor proxy, Inspector Spacetime. I’m not sure if Chris’ later series, The Thundermans featured any specific DW references, but I’m sure it did. Chris once had a red Paradigm Dalek on his breakfast table, too!

I love how the creators leaned into the fans turning him into "Doctor Whooves". From the use of Four's scarf and Ten's catchphrase in "Slice of Life" to where we are seeing one of his nightmares where he is being chased by living statues. There's even a bit in the comics where Discord produces his own "TARDIS" and Time Turner makes a brief cameo...only for Discord to boot him out saying we don't need the reference every time.

The Librarians exists in this TV world (late 90s until late 2010s) where shows (like Eureka, Warehouse 13, Leverage, White Colar, etc.) that have a simular fan base, but are on different networks, could exist in one Universe. And any actors/directors/writers/etc that appear in the credits make self referential meta comments. And i love the head-cannon of it all.

Ellie is endearing, elegant, elecutionarily elevated and enticingly entertaining...And this being just a couple of weeks removed from the Season 2 Finale of Star Trek: Picard...The Wesley Crusher cameo speaks for itself, revealing the Watchers, Travelers and Supervisors (Daniels, Gary Seven and Isis, Roberta Lincoln, Mestral, Rain Robinson, Tallinn, The Tau Ceti Traveler and now Crusher) are all under the same Aegis (the Beta canon Aliens with the 50K light-year range transporters)...That Wesley, Now simply The Traveler, recruits Korē Soong to the Watchers as his ahem ahem Companion?? Very telling...

"Should I want for variety, the adorable barmaid at the Rose and Crown"

Doctor Zone's car is a nice triple tribute reference to sci-fi stories with it being a yellow car like the Third Doctor's Bessie, a Beetle like the original Bumblebee was in Transformers and being its owner comes from the stars, you could say it's a Star Bug. Also I like that the ape has a clock face because it reminds me of the drawing of Romana from City of Death.

Here is another one you missed. I just watched both 10 Times Doctor Who Appeared in TV shows and 10 Times doctor Who Appeared in Movies. He also appeared in the British TV show the Goodies. In one episode Tim and Bill were blasting off into space when one of them said "We need to call for help." The other asked how they would call for help. The first responded "In the telephone both." just as the TARDIS passed them going the other way. Also, Jon Pertwee and Patrick Troughton both have appeared on the show.

There an brilliant reference to the TARDIS in Season 1 Episode 19 of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. The Agents are interrogated and one of the questions is “You’re on a desert island, and the only thing on it is a large crate/box, what is the one thing you would want to find in that box?” They go through the different agents and their answers are weapons, a boat, etc. When they get to Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) says “The TARDIS”. There is a wonderful reference in the HBO series "Doom Patrol". When Michelle Gomez as Madame Rouge first appears in her time machine, Jane (Diane Guerrero) calls her ""Dr Who". This is of course so much better because Gomez played Missy, the female incarnation of The Master. Other Dr Who alumni on TDP are Mark Sheppard (Canton Delaware) and Timothy Dalton (Rassilon).

There was a TV series called Crime Traveller made in 1997, which only lasted for 1 series. In it the 2 main characters have built a time machine in a room of a house. In 1 episode they end up in a junk yard which has a police box standing in it and give it a quizzical look.
Also there was a 1976 TV show called Mathshow. Which was designed to teach young children mathematics. There was frequently a spoof of Tom Baker's Timelord who travelled in a standard phone box. Which he and 2 other characters had to cram into.
And who can forget 'Dr. Emu and the Deadly Dustbins'? They were dustbins on wheels and droned "Dispose" "Dispose"
      .

I can think of two other Doctor Who references:
    1. In the US police drama "The Rookie" season 4 episode "Red Hot", a group of LAPD officers investigated a safe house, when the main character played by Nathan Fillon remarks that the house in much bigger on the outside than inside. This causes the surprise comment from sports fan Sergeant Bradford to say "It's like a reverse Tardis."
    2. Seth Macfarlane's "The Orville'. In season 1, the starship Orville discovers a parrel universe where everything is in two dimensions. After getting stuck inside this 2-D universe, they rig a shuttle to help get the starship out of danger. After Lieutenant Lemarr remarks that they have created a field to make the inside of the shuttle bigger than the outside, Captain Mercer says "Just like Doctor Who's phone booth".

I don't know if anyone's mentioned it yet, but in season 1, episode 1 of the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero animated series from 1986, there are 3 references to Doctor Who. In the last scene of the first episode, titled The Pyramid of Darkness (Pt.1) -which is a loose reference to a few Doctor Who titles- Shipwreck and Snake Eyes (accompanied by his wolf, Timber) are disguised in Cobra uniforms as they attempt to gain entry into a Cobra installation. In that scene, Shipwreck, Snake Eyes and Timber step up to the facility's entry gate where they encounter a Cobra robot standing guard beside a voice print recognition computer. Shipwreck recites the pass phrase "Hail Cobra Commander; the great snake rules forever!" twice, but the computer doesn't accept his voice print. Upon seeing this, the robot begins shouting a warning reminiscent of the Daleks, saying "Intruders! Intruders! Intruders must be exterminated! Exterminated! Exterminated!" as Shipwreck, Snake Eyes and Timber become trapped in the corridor between two rows of bars; as circular saw blades rise up from the floor and spikes pop out of the walls and begin to close in on them.
This episode also introduced a group of small, innocent looking creatures called "Fatal Fluffies"; which were smuggled aboard a transport rocket, by Zartan, that a G.I. Joe squad used to reach a space station orbiting Earth. The squad discovered the little creatures after docking on the space station. The Joes would later learn that these creatures also had the ability to morph into larger, stronger monsters; which I believe makes them similar to the Meeps, of the Wrarth Galaxy, who were first introduced in a Doctor Who comic strip. Thought I'd throw that in, just in case no one else has.

So, I'm watching this while waiting for my daughter to get out of first grade with my child's mother and she sees it and says, "wow, she's really cute. That's definitely your type." Like, duh, Ellie is the cutest girl on TH-cam, if not all of tv. Geez, can't even stalk her properly since she's 'across the pond', as y'all say.

I might have the most obscure reference to Doctor Who in an American TV show. The short-lived Something is Out There (1988). The show was about a pair of cops. One human and one alien. In one scene, the human picked up a stalk of celery. The alien cop said something like she'd heard that celery has great healing powers. Or something to that effect.

Phineas and Ferb have a reference to the TARDIS, in one episode where the boys build a rocket and accompanying launch site, they turn a shed into mission control, with the shed being bigger on the inside than the outside with Phineas noting that Ferb knows "really knows how to maximize space."
The episode is called Out To Launch. I can't find any evidence if it was meant as a TARDIS reference, though! But given how Phineas and Ferb AND Milo Murphy's Law share the same creators and Universe, it's got to be a TARDIS reference.

I was fully expecting Agents of SHIELD to be mentioned here. The character Jemma Simmons is a confirmed Whovian in the show, so there were lots of references. Season 1 featured a mini TARDIS in the background of a scene, and in a later episode when Simmons was presented with a hypothetical desert island scenario and asked what the one thing she would want on the island with her would be, she answered "the TARDIS." In season 3 she had a Doctor Who themed birthday cake, and in season 5 she uttered the phrase "Allons-y" before heading into battle against aliens on board a spaceship. By far the best Doctor Who reference on the show, however, came during a season 7 episode featuring an army of Chopping Mall inspired killer robots: while breaching a SHIELD base, an Uzi-wielding robot says "Exterminate!" before opening fire.

In one of the episodes in season 2 (I forgot the number and name of the episode)
Sprig drinks a cup of coffee and as his energy is high everything slows down
Like time has slow down after sprig notices this he says “I’m a time lord now”

Don't know if it has been mentioned yet in previous comments but... Phineas and Ferb ? In the crossover episode with the MCU, Phineas casually mentions time lord technology to explain how he managed to fit a whole hi-tech lab in his backyard 😜. Phineas and Ferb + Doctor Who + Marvel in one episode. As a fan of the three universes, that one was a keeper for me 😁

There was an episode where Mrs Peele was undercover in a department store. You saw several Daleks in the toy department.
Phineas and Ferb referenced Doctor Who long before Milo Murphy's Law. Twice Phineas and Ferb had control centers that were tiny sheds on the outside, but huge facilities on the inside. Ferb credited it to "Good Old British sci Fi ingenuity"

    Isabella- maybe Rose?
