Hi Simon! Interesting locos with some lovely details considering their age! The LMS repaint looked amazing! Oh to have the skillset to do that sort of thing! Great stuff! Cheers, Ian.
That is some serious quality airbrushing and then pin striping. I couldn't do it. I can take them apart and make them go again but I don't have that skill set.
Wow! That was the second locomotive I owned as a boy many many years ago.. I wish I still had mine! I had the black one but that repaint is really great!
The repaint is quality, no idea who did it but they did it well. There are plenty of Ivatts on ebay some in great condition. If you know how to do a service they are easy to keep running forever. You can get brushes and traction tyres althought fitting traction tyres is rather fiddly.
Greetings Simon 🖐Very enjoyable show 😁really interesting to see what the Minitrix models really are like 😍 The repaint is truly superb 😇 even more considering it is N Gauge 😮Very best wishes from the Emerald Isle ☘
Hello Paul, I've seen some repaints and weathering that looked like it had been done with a 6 inch brush. And they were asking £150 on ebay for the mess that used to be a Britannia. I guess Minitrix is just my era. It helps having them easy to work on, I can still get spares as Minitrix have been rather lazy with their locos. The 4-6-2 chassis is still being used for instance with no real changes. But they aren't accurate models which is the down side. I like the 9F even though it doesn't really look like a 9F at all!
Hi Simon, lovely pair of locos. Perhaps the maroon isnt correct but I think it looks great. There is a nice picture of a maroon one at the Lakeside and Haverhwaite Railway, but then I can remember a blue tender engine there which also wasnt authentic!! I could see the Tardis at 7:31 but no Ron, maybe he's gone searching for the other Ron at Hook Norton. Now its easy to make spelling mistakes, maroon could be written as marron which is in Spanish Brown or used colloquially as mess as in perhaps "I had to deal with your mess" Hope your getting a little bit of rain to keep those greens, green!! Have a great week
Hello David, since I made this I have seen an Ivatt in LMS livery. But it was a black and white photo so don't know what colour it was! We have had rain today and I think we have it all next week too. I think Ron was still steering one of the barges.
I'm not sure how old mine are. The green one I bought new in about 1998 so I don't know how long the production run was. Was Lone Star the American branding? I've seen them on ebay and recognised the chassis on some locos.
Those engines look brilliant!!!! The detail is impressive! How much are those engines worth in this day and age I wonder (don't tell me, I'll only be jealous!!!). What an enjoyable video! And the greenery and background are looking great too!!!
This day and age all depends on how many are on ebay and what condition you have. The standard black one usually sells for under £40. The green one is around £50 for a mint example. The repaint was 3 figures and if you tell my wife! It needed a pair of traction tyres which cost less than £1 but you need the skill to replace them. There are plenty that go on ebay just under £30 and sometimes £20. I bought a pair, kept one and sold one.
Hi Simon, the layout is looking superb and your tracking shots are spot on these days. "It was worth what I paid for it", was that for our benefit or your good lady? Keep chuffing. Ron

Believe it or not, the Minitrix was made in 1968!! I was 11 at the time!! My trains were Lone Star Treblo Trains.

What was my first train set? Lone Star Treblo Passenger Express with a King Arthur locomotive.
I just had a quick search arounf google and didn't find anything. You say treblo so not the N scale locos I guess.

Let's just say the repaint cost triple what you would pay for one normally on ebay and leave it at that Ron! 🤫🤫🤫
