    This is getting exciting Simon, hurry up with the single track so we can see them run. Since it always rains when you are not working you may as well crack on with it Stay dry. Ron

      Hello Ron, I've just gone backwards and taken some down to start again. This is the right time to do it before it gets too far. It was dry today until I got to the 18th green. Then it lamped it down. My next rota day is thursday and it's looking grim so I'm going to get my back worked on. I feel really old! Simon

      I've had the bill plus for another loco I bought on ebay. It was a bit painful. But, the guy is selling up and I simply had to buy off him. My excuse anyway. Cheers

    Toy fairs a great place to find model railway stuff, I always go to them and it's amazing what you'll find and for how much.

      I've not been to a toy fair. Trying to think if there are any local ones. I would imagine it's a good hunting ground. Cheers

      Got to the 'UK Model Shop Directory' online and in the tabs at the top of the page will give you the listings for all shows and toy fairs. Good luck and hunting.

    Good evening Simon! That was a great haul for a good price! I just hope that there are some similar bargains for my visit to GETS at the weekend! :) My friend has the exact same GF Pannier Tank as you, and it's given up the ghost, so it would be great if you could do a service video for it, and I can then point him your way! My Dapol 57xx is also in need of a service, and I'm trying to summon up the courage to open it up, so maybe such a video would help me out too! All the best, Ian.

      Hello Ian, I did very well and now I've had the bill. I've done the service, very basic inside. I doubt it looks like the Dapol. I took the undertray off as the contacts were dirty and that was yet another can of worms. I didn't put that bit on camera. It's just too awkward. But I do show the bits you need to clean and what to use. Then it runs lovely. I also put togther a test track - a length of flexi on timber. So sophisticated. Cheers

    Some great buys, i used a 9 v battery for track testing, i would use a DC loco and hold the battery upside down against the track, works a treat. All the best.

      I've built a test track now. Something about those chromed terminals don't seem to make good contact. Glad I got the coaches and a class 47 again. Cheers

    Hi Simon. Looks like you had a fun day out. Your wallet took a bit of a hiding but you did get some bargains. I have always liked the Minitrix loco's , very good performers. They will pull thin skin off of you if you gave them a chance. I also like their coaches. I have a set of their blood and custard MK 1's and two sets of Maroons and one set of choc and cream. Each set is of 8 coaches. I also have sets of Farish southern green express coaches and a set of suburban one's as well. Plus I have a set of 9 Farish Pullman's as well. So I have plenty of coaching stock. One loco I have that I know you won't have is a blue and silver Coronation Scot on a Minitrix Britannia chassis and a set of matching prototypical coaches , 8 of them. I had this train made for me. It wasn't cheap. But I had to have it. I have two Minitrix Britannia's one Flying Scotsman in L.N.E.R. green and a Sir Nigel Gresley A4 in Garter blue. I have more wagons than you could throw a stick at. The Peco wagon kits are a good way of building up some stock. I have about 12 of each in bauxite and grey. As you might be able to tell I have quite a lot of N gauge. Don't even get me started on my OO gauge collection , about a 100 smokers and 80 or so diesels plus stock. Way to much. I was lucky in that I bought a lot if not all of my stuff on Ebay or at shows so I rarely paid full price. This an exspensive hobby so get the bargains where you can. Your other bits and pieces are usful and some essential , like rail joiners. So well done mate. I see that you are starting to put track down so I hope to see the first train running soon. Good luck. Regards.

      Hello Brian, that is some collection. The Minitrix are so well made and so easy to service. I have seen a Coronation Scot on ebay. Middle of last year and it was a mess. So poorly painted and they wanted a ton of money for it. I don't know if it sold or not, probably not considering the state it was in. I've seen a number of repaints or Brittania with an asking price of £129 when a good Brittania goes for £55-60. Looks like some of them were done with a 6 inch brush.
      I do keep looking on ebay and bought another loco 2 weeks back. It's getting expensive, just had the credit card bill for that lot. Ouch! I'm still looking at ebay job lots for bits and pieces. There was a good one last week but it went for more than my limit. At least I'm a bit more restrained on my limits now. If it's worth 250 I'll happily pay 250 but I do manage to control myself a bit better. I'm building up my box of junk to put on there now. Cheers

      Hello Paul, hoping to get some power on in the next 2 weeks. Just made the servicing video, it's not one of my best. Damn hard doing it looking through the back of the phone when i need to look through my magnifying light. OO Bill has it much easier! Cheers

    That's a bargain!!! All that for £270! You buy train gear like I buy golf clubs!!!! The only difference is that you end up selling your old stock on!!!
    Looks like you're going to be busy this winter!!!

    • @ngaugeonashelf4417
      @ngaugeonashelf4417  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes there will be a turn out. Once I get power on the track I will dig everything out and assemble trains and see what I have and what I need. Some will go back from where it came.
      I will be very busy with 15 18 hole videos and a number of tuesday shorties. Not forgetting the April 1st video......

    A fruitful if expensive day out. Just putting my hand in the air for that servicing video. Would be interesting to see what you do, especially with the Pannier Tank

      I'm going to do the video this morning. There wont be much to do. Clean and lube. I've got a test track now which makes life easier than a 9v battery. Be out next week. Cheers

    Hi Simon. Such a great hobby. Id love to start again don't have the time atm. I guess its as much fun searching for items though. I love going to motorcycle jumbles and searching out 1920s and 30s parts for some of the bikes Im restoring. Quite obscure stuff but a good buzz when you find something.So good when you find a part you need Pete

    • @ngaugeonashelf4417
      @ngaugeonashelf4417  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Pete, yes I can imagine the buzz of finally finding a part that you need. I watch the Australian Armour Museum on youtube and they restore a lot of old tanks and vehicles. When they get a part or figure out a problem the joy is the same. Hobbies are expensive though.....

    Hi again Simon. I forgot , I have also got two sets of Dapol Gresley coaches in maroon and a set of Teak one's as well. I better stop before I remember any more. Cheers.

      I'm trying to limit myself on stock. I'm going for 5 coaches max as for a full proper rake of 13 the station will take up too much space. I've got to get the power on, I've got a visit to the timber merchant and to screwfix and this time next week could be testing. Cheers

      I did go to spend rather than look at the layouts. I was expecting the same layouts I had seen at Hucclecote earlier in the year. I just didn't expect to spend so much...........Cheers
