Love how Blackmore plays everything "in the moment" never the same thing twice ...ad lib and improvisation 80%of the time...makes everything he plays interesting. However, he is the victim of his own mood many times, if he's having an off night, it's readily evident in his playing and he is almost dreadful during his performance...but at other times he is just brilliant and connected to some cosmic funnel of supreme craftsmanship that serves to inspire scores of guitar players to want to be able to connect to the same ether for even a few moments of the same sort of improvisational creativity.
That intro is moments of inspired genius. Absolutely gorgeous!! Listened to it dozens and dozens of times. Therapy for a hurt world. Blackmore is his name.
Get goosebumps every time. Sir Ritchie one of the smoothest and precise guitarist. I had a Fender same color like this one. A Highway one edition. Unfortunately had to sell it 😑
On the Stranger In Us all tour with Doogie White, Ritchie reached truly stratospheric levels of performance : buckshot, badass, inspired ... a real war machine ...
Best magestic ultra real and ballsy strat tone with only 2 pickups!!! To tell you the truth: Gallagher, Blackmore, Beck, Clapton, Richards, Knopfler, Gilmour, Johnson, Vaughan, Hendrix and many many other greats had in common: just a classic fender and inspiration!!!
Many don’t know that Doogie was the other finalist to replace Bruce Dickinson for Iron Maiden around this time. And I think Doogie was better than Blaze
When I saw Deep Purple on the "Slaves & Masters" tour, Joe Lynn Turner was just standing there reciting a poem, the last line of which he spoke "Smoke On The Water; Fire In The Sky" n BAM we were off straight into the chorus and then the rest of the Song! 🤔
A virtuoso of rhythm. One of the qualities Blackmore is adept at is his dexterity of improvisation. Like Jimi, he never passes one road exactly twice because of the unstoppable copious flow of harmony constantly in his head. See how he built the entrance into "Smoke On The Water" here. Just special and melodiously sweet.
Brain May said no one could play Smoke like Ritchie. In other words he said the fundamentals may be something most guitarists could get but only Ritchie plays it right. Ritchie was one of greatest performers in the business when he felt like it. Freddie Mercury, Ian Anderson of Tull, Hendrix and Blackmore.
He's not playing it right here though because he's said many times the correct way to play it is without a pick but hes using a pick. Although he does use just his fingers eventually ;)
Muito bom... Entrada super... e todo o desempenho. Falta voz e Deep Purple.
I had a ton of their albums . but back then the audio live was terrible, the live stuff I had was terrible compared studio albums, but this live was one that was really cool because they adlibbed a lot and they went above the original....
Purple sound- Hammond organ and Fender Stratocaster. No one can replace Ritchie. Steve Morse's sound never suited Purple. This Rainbow gig shows Ritchie at the top of his game.
More I listen this song and this intro I thing it is the same of Money for nothing! The use of the notes by Mark knopfler and Blackmore is Very similar. Probably mark with his song wanted celebrate smoke and the water!

True.

Just the right notes in the right amount magically strung together and perfectly timed, that’s why he’s been my favorite
Ritchie's sound on this tour was absolutely awesome.
This intro is so absolutely mind-blowing that I could just loop it and play it for hours. Shame he didn't turn it into a stand-alone composition.
Adam K imagine this on made in Japan 😀
Listen this about 15 times a month mate it's absolutely fkin Magic 🎸🎸🎸👍👍
Yep ritchie is god

The guitar sound here is magnificent! The intro so cool Jon and Ritchie magic
Perfect.
Let us hear Richie again.2020
Nothing compares to this intro

I still have that guitar 🤘
The best intro of a classic pure rock song . Never heard anything so good . No other band can compare 🥁🥁🎤🎤🎹🎹🎸🎸🎸
Blackmore's a beast!

True. Rory didn’t even use a whammy bar. He and Richie are my favorites. Richie’s musicality is par none.
When u see vids like this with Ritchie u really see how amazing a talent his playing is as opposed to just hearing...it
Fantastic intro from pure talent!
Doogie sounds great here. Love Richie’s playing here. The whole concert is immaculate and inspired playing.
Many don’t know that Doogie was the other finalist to replace Bruce Dickinson for Iron Maiden around this time. And I think Doogie was better than Blaze

Merci pour revoir Ritchie Blackmore j' ai tous albums Rainbow, vidéo j avait pas merci
Still one of the best guitarist ever. This song was the 2nd metal song I learned on the guitar to play
When I saw Deep Purple on the "Slaves & Masters" tour, Joe Lynn Turner was just standing there reciting a poem, the last line of which he spoke "Smoke On The Water; Fire In The Sky" n BAM we were off straight into the chorus and then the rest of the Song!
🤔
I bet Ritchie had this in. His head for years 😄😄
Ritchie is out of this world, but with this riff goes Ian Gillan without a doubt
38Vitale why ist Richie Out of thus world He is still alive
SUPERB! Blackmore rules forever!
Genio. El. Sr😮

It was exellent
Il più grande di tutti i tempi!
Very nice intro, going all Gilmour, Knopfler, Clapton-style on the intro. Absolutely awesome! Major Blackmore fan.
What a genius !
Epic perfomance
What blows me away is how many marks there were....different version of his band, dio, coverdale,Ian Gillian,Joe Lyn turner,Graham Bonnet...
Let’s do a classic Ritchie says hold my beer . Awesome 🎸🎸
Smoke on the water with a pick? Tut tut Ritchie. You've always said that a pick is not used for the riff. Guess he must have been having an off night.
Wow bow down to the best intro ever 😀
Love that intro.
I love the intro
Super.Very Best,Amaizin.
If you study Blackmore you will find he knows each string and cord with eyes closed. And he uses piano strings on his guitar. No others can do it
Bravo
The best intro of all time

He made The Riff a hybrid with Man On the Silver Mountain with the extra bass G notes.

I like it, but Made In Japan is undeniably the best version of Smoke On The Water. It's the only way that riff was meant to be heard, hard and heavy.

Maravilhoso este cara saúde Blk Mour.
I am dreaming of a meeting and playing together from Richie Blackmore and Jimmy Page - and don´t you tell me dreams don´t come true!!!!!!
or Tony Iommi
Ritchie Blackmoore, is it you?
You are the best!
Turn everything up louder than everything else.
Actually he was singing the song by replacement of the vocals instrumentally.
Rosli muhalim is ritce blakmore
Fender, una marca hecha para Ritchie Blackmore.
Bit random but I've always been surprised Iommi and Blackmore never did anything together or got on well

40 years ago? Yes , agree..
Gillan The Best of The Best!!! Forever!
I can't hear the bass guitar. There is no smoke on the water without the bass.
