I have heard many stories about Blackmore in the past,,however I spoke to him for at least a hour after a gig one night in England and he nothing but praise for other guitar players , in fact the whole conversation was about other players and how Good he thought they were, I think a lot of this stuff about him being a ass is just hype, I found him to be a realy humble nice guy with a good word for all.
Most of what I hear is in regards to his bandmates and how he likes to be in control. I read that the main reason he started Rainbow is because he wanted a band where he called all the shots and had the undisputed authority to hire and fire band members at will. I'm not sure how much of that is true and how much of it is embellished. Either way, no one can deny his brilliance.
