I have been a Ritchie Blackmore fan for 40 years and he still amazes me every time I watch him play. He is and will always be my GOAT. Legends never die.
It's all improvised - he always stuck to the basic song structure but then improvised around it live. That's what set him apart - yes he had his off nights, but on a good one he was unbeatable. Jimmy Page recently stated that he couldn't touch Blackmore's lead playing.

I saw this tour. Ritchie is the best guitar player I have ever seen live. I have seen many I have been to over 300 shows over the years. This was the most commercially successful band that Ritchie put together. JLT was very good live and appealed to the masses.

The one guitarist that is most often imitated but never duplicated. Besides ritchies tone's I've always been amazed by the fact he has nothing committed to memory (except the highway star solo) so so many great solos and 99% are feel....unreal
Yeah but. Glover supports him instinctively. Rondinelli is a fantastic drummer...... he has the swing like Paicy did. JLT is just brilliant here. The keyboard player is a hired gun, but it all works. The spark is always RB...always.
David Rosenthal wasn't a gun for hire, he was a young talent discovered by Ritchie and stayed until they disbanded. He's gone on to do many great things

However, these categories can’t serve as indicators of the quality of music.
