  • Cargo trains of Switzerland! Making the North-South traverse of the Alps through the Gotthard Railway and tunnel linking central Switerland with the south. Mostly SBB trains but also a couple of Railpool in there too. Enjoy!

Very good. I've 'stumbled' across trains of Switzerland, and the scenery in and of itself is a very good reason to watch. I've noticed that there are no well cars, thus containers cannot be stacked, but that's just an observation and nothing more. Also, it appears Switzerland has respectful citizens unlike the US as in no rolling stock marred with graffiti. I hope when you filmed during the winter you had a flask of Cognac with you. I would have. Brrrrrrr.

Most of the traffic show is containers and swap bodies which are transferred through secure sidings and freight facilities. If you see freight wagons used at track side locations, hopper and sliding door wagons the 'tagging' is just as bad as the rest of the world.

What a fantastic location. Will it change with the tunnel open now? I just wondered how much freight would be seen at this location from now on? Thanks for posting regards Ian Swindon UK.

Thanks for the comment, from what I understand there will be almost no freight passing through this location and also significantly fewer passenger trains from December on. It's the end of an era!

If its quantity you're after I've found Olten is one of the best. Average around 12 freights an hour. I went last month and my friends went back to the hotel for 20 minutes. They missed 12 freights and a light engine in that short spell! Pratteln near Basel is also busy
