Thanks for the review. It is always interesting to hear other peoples opinions about motorcycles.
FYI - None of the riding modes (rain, road, dynamic) are enabled while the bike is in the break-in 'restricted' mode. The Dynamic-Pro mode has to be enabled with a plug that is fitted under the seat. The user manual comes with dire warnings about using pro mode on the public road!
Tall people (I'm 6'4") may find the riding position a little too aggressive. Handle bar risers make for a more relaxed riding position, and make my rides just that little more comfortable. I also have a taller after-market windshield that I use for cold days and highway riding. It allows me to cruise at higher speeds without as much wind noise.
I test rode other naked bikes (KTM, Ducati, etc.). The other bikes were great, but it was the smoothness of the S1000R's 4-cylinder engine that won me over (along with the exhaust sound). I agree with another comment, the brake reservoir is hideous.

This is definitely one of my top fav naked bikes. Great sound, unique look and very smooth engine. Also not too heavy.

It has a QuickShifter you know, you don't need to use the clutch when shifting up :)

BMW does make a nice bike I must say.... But I still love my Z1K. Never was really all that ga ga about ride modes... I'm just like isn't that your wrist? But I guess you can't stop progress!
