    If I may: Edge vehicles of this age need to have the Emergency Parking Brake put in `Maintenance Mode' prior to and out again after install. The parts should be cleaned with Brake solvent, the sliders and contact points need to be lubed. I won't mention PPE, I promise. During install ensure the bolts are tightened to the correct torque (an Allen Key won't work, you need an Allen Wrench).
    Apart from that it was all quite good.

      Can you elaborate on this a bit? Have to work on my friends Edge and wanna make sure it's done correctly.

      Allen key and Allen wrench are the same thing lmao

    • @MrRunner
      @MrRunner ปีที่แล้ว

      @@camronsexton8233 Well, not really. An Allen wrench allows a torque wrench to be used. I suppose it's semantics really, but I'm British where the nomenclature may be different.

      @@Tyani-sz6cg Sorry, just saw this. There is a procedure to put the EBS into Maintenance Mode, which is readily available on line. If you still need this, just ask and I'll dig it up for you.

    Graham Miller makes all very good points. Failure to put the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) in maintenance mode could result in damaging the parking brake motor and those are not inexpensive. Failure to do it correctly could result in a reasonably inexpensive brake job costing you several hundred dollars. Get the right information BEFORE you tackle your repair job. Clean all of your parts, and lubricate those points that are supposed to slide freely or you'll be replacing pads far too soon because of uneven wear.

      I have a 2017 edge titanium, to engage the parking brake maintenance mode I had to turn the ignition on hold the gas pedal down and hold the parking brake button down then turn the ignition off and turn the ignition back on while still holding the button and gas and then it was good

    Do all pads for these have the atupid alingment tabs on the back for the brake cylinder? Mine isnt lining up without turning the cylinder put almost 180°

    on my 2017 Edge, I was able to push the piston back in the brake cylinder about half-way, then had to rotate the piston the rest of the way. If you don't have the special tool for rotating the piston, a good set of needle nose pliers will work. Be very careful if you use a giant c-clamp, if it doesn't rotate the piston, you can break things...

    The OEM pads had the grove in the middle as well, your breaks are just so far gone you’ve past the grove

    all that's left to watch now are those beat up rotors wear the crap out of the new pads.

    • @MicahMartinDIY
      @MicahMartinDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the rotors were in pretty decent shape. The mileage is low, I will probably change them next time around if we still own the car at that point.
