    thank you. I just bought a house with a pool and never have opened a pool for the spring. The label on the sand filter is completely gone so this was very helpful. Also I have a leak in the O ring so I will try to clean and lube it before buying another one. So thanks for not rambling on and on, you made a very simple, easy to follow video!

    Just wanted to thank you for the very informative, and more so, easy to understand instructions. Being able to actually see into the filter, and just WHAT a "lateral is, helped. While I don't have a multiport connected to the top of the filter, you made this very "user friendly."

      Key thing is to have an automatic sweeper and clean your filter as needed. See the pressure after you clean it and when it creeps up clean the filter. As for chlorine, start off with weekly shocking until you get in maintained. Then try to maintain using liquid chlorine. Check chlorine 3 times a week and learn how much you need to add by keeping a history of temperature (avg). Eventually you will be able to upkeep the pool without even measuring chlorine. Of course check the other measurements as well using a 5 way test kit and adjust (usually once a month at most).

    When adding sand, putting about 2 inches of water above the fingers helps cushion them and also cuts down on dust.

    Great video. About 3 years ago I bought a house with an indoor pool and this spring I noticed that I was getting sand inside the pool almost every day since I opened it. I figured that it was time to change the sand in my filter (300lbs) and this video was just what I needed before I tackled the job.
    Hopefully the sand that I'm seeing in my pool is because some of the sand has worn down and managed to fit through the tiny holes on the fingers in the filter. If not I may have a cracked finger inside the filter I'm guessing.
    Still, this video was very helpful and was the perfect education that I needed before I opened everything up.
    Thanks!

    Johan,
    Thanks for posting the video on how to change the sand. Very good indeed!
    Couple of questions, If I may.
    1: Where did you find the tubing that you attached the unions to? I have had no luck at Lowes or HomeDepot.
    2: Did you use basic primer and pvc cement?
    3: If you are in Canada, any issues with the tubing freezing or cracking? Or there days, weeks, and months you have to keep the pump on to ensure no broken parts?
    Thanks in advance! I will be using your video on correcting an upside down light switch.

    Thanks for the video. I have an inground pool and every time I rinse and vacuum the pool and put it back on filter dirt and sand goes into bottom of the pool. Do you think I need to replace the laterals in my sand filter?

    • @cwstewartjr1973
      @cwstewartjr1973 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      One or more of your lateral lines are broken and sand is going thru it. They arent expensive. Just have to go thru the process of changing the sand so you can change out that broken lateral line. They screw in and out of that hub that is attached to the stand pipe.

      If the water is green, most likely its algae. Buy the recommended amount for the size pool you have. Sand filter will not kill or get rid.of algae.

    That moment when water is clear you vacuumed and that 1 or 2 leaves floating at the bottom of the deep end. 🤣🤣🤣🤣so tempted to dive in and hand grab them

    What could this guy have done in this video that 65 people would give him a hands down so freakin stupid the guy showed the sand change about as good as your gout to get maybe some people didn’t like the shop vac of old sand who knows but it’s definitely a good explanation of how to change filter sand

    Good video, but your old sand looks super clean, don’t think it’s need to change!

      William Zhang what you dont see is the sand shape it gets round over time and does not grab the particles anymore so it can look brand new and be totally useless

    I used a old pool pump to remove the sand by filling the sand filter to the top with water then sticking the hose down to bottom the pump didn't like it but it was getting dumped anyway

    Do I have to save my sand pool filter for winter or cover ? .

    • @jonahvlogsdiy4143
      @jonahvlogsdiy4143  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's outside, it's a good idea to cover it for the winter.
