I Built an Action Packed Star Wars Diorama: The Battle of Hoth

- Empire Strikes Back is my favorite Star Wars movie, and the battle of Hoth was always its peak for me. So I built this 1:160 scale (10 mm people) roughly 58x20 cm diorama from scratch to honor this film.
I modeled all the minis, the rebels, tauntauns, imperial troopers, AT-ATs, AT-STs, snowspeeders, turrets, and even a wampa in Blender. 3D printed them on my Elegoo Saturn 12k, and built the terrain from simple, easily accessible materials.

As far as I am concerned the first 45 mins of 'Empire' Is by far & away the best piece of cinema Hollywood has ever made! The diorama & editing both hold up to the very high standards set by the film!
Thank you so much! I'm so happy to hear that!
Im with you on rekognizing Empire strikes back as the best cinema film evet
Love the little comdy reliefs, sound effects and movie cutaways!😂😂 It helps remind people that this is a hobby and supposed to be fun.👍
Thank you! Yes, it supposed to be about having fun! And a few strokes when something goes wrong. But I was closer to that when I built my Jurassic Park diorama. :D You should check that out too!
I don't comment often, but I will here. This was awesome! You did a great job with this and I love all the small stories you could see around the Diorama.
Thank you so much! And thanks for breaking the habit of not commenting! 😄
This diorama is truly amazing! Also loved the filming and the editing. Those funny sounds. :DDD It was a professional video in every aspect. Can't wait to see what's coming next.
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!
You're the bestest!
(WOOKIE): RAAAAAARGGGHHH!!!
Great work!
Thank you!
beautiful work! absolutely love what you did. keep up the awesome work!
Thank you so much!
I love it. Great work
Thank you, Sigurd!
Great attention to detail in the diorama, and making everything from scratch is really impressive! And the editing of the video is really cool too, I especially liked the clips from Star Trek! Now you could make one of the battle scenes from Who Finds a Friend Finds a Treasure!
Thank you so much for the kind words! Haven't thought about that movie yet, but it would funny! :D
Ez nagyon király lett. Szép munka 😉
Köszönöm! :)
Biztos hamar ment. :D Gratulálok! :)
Több, mint egy év volt. :D Köszönöm!
Awesome work, I really like it! To answer your question: I would have shown the FD P-Tower in the middle of firing phase instead of the idle phase because the power conversion cells glowing around the dish while the weapon was ready to fire looked pretty cool in the movie. But don't take it the wrong way, this is not meant to be criticism.
Thanks! And thank you for your feedback! I will see, maybe I can put those little dots of paint onto the P-Tower. I don't have any problem with criticism either, that's just helping me. I don't take it as trolling or such. :)
I would have also included Han Solo gutting a Tauntaun and stuffing Luke into the carcass to prevent him from freezing because that also looked pretty cool!
@@tekiccs that scene deserves its own diorama!
@@Nosculptor yes! or it would deserve a whole movie, or at least it could be a part of a movie!
Incredibly massive project from the first polys to the last drops of paint! And what a humorous tone in the edit! Cannot help it, my absolute favourites are the ATs! Big up and keep up the creative fuel!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and like the diorama!
RESPECT! absolutely stunning work 🙌🏼🔥🔥🔥
Thank you! And thanks for the support! :)
Stunning diorama and definitely worth the hard work you put in perfection
Thank you so much!
This is dope!
Thank you!
Godlike patience, great modelling skills and a superb sense of humour, this turned out a Fantastic Diorama ! What made it even more enjoyable were the funny sound effects and film clip comments inserted into the build video. Made me laugh out loud ! Liked and Subscribed.
Thank you so much! You are very kind! I thought a lot about the sound design, and such since the upload, if it's too much, but I'm glad you can enjoy it.
awesome. subscribing now
Thank you!
What an amazing achievement. And what's even more impressive is that you kept at it over the course of a year. Must've not been easy having it in the back of your mind all the time. Even more so, the final product is more than worth it. And above all, you managed to deliver a very entertaining video to watch with your humorous narration, the sounddesign and SW movie tie ins. Hope to see more :)
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the diorama and also the video production! Yes, it wasn't easy to keep myself motivated, but I wanted this dio so bad! :D No Worries, more to come!
Love this diorama ,Empire is my favorite and the battle of Hoth is epic, you captured it brilliantly. Like subscribed and shared. Keep ‘em coming !
Yaay! Thank you very much! :)
Sooooo good, both the video and the project! The way you did the explosions was incredible, they look fantastic! I used to play Star Wars Battlefront II on the PS2 and Hoth was my favorite map haha, you did such a great version of it~
Same here with SW Battlefront II! :D Thank you so much, I'm very glad you could enjoy the video!
Awesome work! Love it
Thank you!
great content bro keep em coming
Thank you! I'm glad you like it!
@@Nosculptor of course would love to see you make an Endor diorama. are u working on anything new recently?
@@dubsdiditup Currently I'm woking on a Jurassic Park dio, but I definitely will make an Endor themed. I have to reuse these minis in more dioramas/videos, because making them was an awful lot of time! :D
Wow!
That "wow" I thank you!
New subscriber here and I'm really enjoying it so far! 👍
Cool! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you!
Awesome diorama of on of my favorite movies!!

Very impressive. Very! Keep up the great work and content
Thank you! I'm on it.
Omg, “he’s as clumsy is he is stupid”. Too funny that made my day. Great videos, subscribed and I’m trying this!
Great, thank you! And have fun!
Killer work
Thanks!
Amazing diorama!
Thank you!
Fantastic work and very enjoyable video I love it!
Thank you! I'm so glad you liked my video, because I'm a long time fan of your channel! You probably will enjoy my next video too, which will feature a dinosaur. :)
Excellent video mate. Your humour had better landing than the AT-ATs!😂
Thanks! At least the jokes worked! :D
Very well done.
Thank you!
You were dedicated to those blasts
Yes, I had to learn how to make acceptible ones, so did the homework! :D
Thank you for your efforts, Maestro.
Really C❄❄L
Thank you!
@@Nosculptor Have you seen my Star Wars projects?
@@goforitpainting I'll check them out!
Beautiful work. Did you figure out why the tablesaw was binding? I think your fence is not exactly parallel with your blade. Oh and love the commentary...hilarious
Thank you so much! It was strange beacuse after that, the binding didn't accour with solid beech, which tends to warp even if it's steamed.
Amazing! How long did this take you?
---
Ok .. answer in the end .... ONE YEAR!?! WOW
Thank you! Yes it was one year, but I've also worked in my dayjob and on other miniature projects besides this.
I hope we have rust free metal before the Star Wars timeline LOL!
That would save the rebels of the Hoth base from many unpleasant moments! :D
Are these STL files available anywhere?
Sorry they are nor. I'd like to avoid copyright infringement. But you can find similar stuff.
Thank you for saying "Ay-Tee Ay-Tee" and not "Atat".
:D You are welcome! Although, I dunno which is the proper pronunciation. Adam Savage (who worked at ILM) for example, says atat.
@@Nosculptor I know, heard even both in Star Wars canon... still don't like it 😁
I mean, you don't say "Atst", either.
“Remember when star wars wasnt all about politics” - you are cooked lmao
Cooked ready.
