- Join me as I return to Six Flags Magic Mountain for the first time in 4 years as I kick off my January 2020 trip to California at this world class amusement park! In this vlog I share off ride footage from many of the different roller coasters on offer at the park along with sharing my thoughts on West Coast Racers. This new roller coaster is located within the new Underground themed area of the park and was manufactured by Premier Rides. Along with that there's footage of X2, Superman Escape From Krypton, Goliath and many more of the parks spectacular roller coasters. I also check out the various other changes across the park since my previous visit and much more in this action packed vlog!

Ah, January 2020. Such innocent times.
I'm convinced with Twisted Colossus being closed that Shawn carries the RMC curse
Untamed is much better than Twisted Colossus anyway :p
It was closed when I went last January too. I was gutted!! I've ridden it before thankfully but I was still annoyed.
HEYyyyyyyy I was at the park this same day. I asked them and they said there is no twisted colossus on weekdays. Drove early to ride it twice before my flight out on Saturday.

For a rollercoaster enthusiast like yourself an empty to park like this must have been heaven for you. No queueing and the park almost too yourself, you must have felt like you had hired the park privately for the day and all in the Californian sunshine.
Alan Campbell I like a park with queues for rides of about 15 mins, 20 max. Means there not too dead and have some atmosphere.
We had such an awesome day!

Went to six flags magic mountain in the summer love all the roller coaster there especially tatsu and x2 enjoy rest of California.

Holy crap...! The trim on Goliath! It didn't completely stop the train!!
I went to Magic Mountain in 1999 Viper was my first inverted coaster so it's rather special & I got a right ear battering on revolution & The Riddler's Revenge was definitely my favourite coaster. Also I'm glad I got to ride flashback a one of a kind B&M nose dive coaster the only one ever built.

The movie roller coaster also featured Rebel Yell at Kings Dominion, they renamed the coaster just a few years ago and they now call it Racer 75 :( How original (Sarcasm)
MAGIC MOUNTAIN was also the park in KISS MEETS THE PHANTOM or KISS ATTACK OF THE PHANTOM 1979
As a Brit I can not comprehend the amount of top class coasters at this park. I always forget them!
It really is a staggering abundance. No other park like it, though Energylandia may surpass it in numbers soon.

Shawn I know what you mean about the hills at the park; my first job was there as a clown selling balloons. Walking that hilly park in 100+ degree Summers in a clown costume, Whew was that a workout!!! But the nights were great and we would go dancing at the parks disco doing the hustle! It was a great place for a first job. I was there last Summer with my niece and what a fantastic roller coaster evolution from the Revolution to X2! So glad you got on Superman; it's one of my favs! I rode it forwards and floating off your seat at the top before descending backwards was an awesome sensation!!!!

Coasters and Cosplays you will love it! I definitely recommend the Snowbird one even though both Park City and Snowbird mountain coasters are fun. The Snowbird views are especially amazing.

It has its moments but no it isnt very intense.

I think I may have spoken with you at your visit in 2015, after exiting the Drop of Doom. It might have been another stoked enthusiast with a young lady friend visiting from the UK. We discussed how awesome Drop of Doom was and UK parks. Either way, cheers!

Batman the ride has 4 other clones throughout the United States. The very first was at Six Flags Great America near Chicago. It was actually the 1st ever inverted coaster. You should stop by SFGAm next time you are in the States! Great collection of coasters and some not to be missed!
The Superman Escape from Krypton is (in my opinion) the superior experience, going backwards! One of my home coasters (back in the day) was the "Tower of Terror" in Dreamworld Australia, which opened first, of course, and that faced forward originally also (once it was backwards they named it.........Tower of Terror II). The backwards experience is better, as you get that nice forward facing drop back down - never seemed to have the same effect when you dropped down backwards! Nice vids - I'm going over to do my own USA Coaster Trip later this year (on a smaller scale!), doing Cedar Point, Six Flags Magic Mountain, and Six Flags Great Adventure...........so looking forward to it!! keep up the good works! xx (sub'd)

Great video and did you know that Revolution was featured in the movie National Lampoon's Vacation? It's a very classic ride. Did something fly off on Krazanity? I love the Goliath sign!!! I even loved that sign in Roller Coaster Tycoon 2.

Pretty sure terminator salavation sponsored the ride and theming for a few year and six flags kept the theming for the queue when they cut the preshow. What is that green stuff in between the tracks on the full throttle loop?

straight for West Coast Racers haha love it! SFMM deff is a bucketlist park however it doesnt appeal to me the same way Cedar Point does, which of the two parks you like the most Shawn? looking forward to the other vlogs from this trip!
There's so much to come from this trip!
They actually have one of the original Superman the Escape ride vehicles stored under X2, you can see it from the exit ramp, so don't lose hope! They could run one side of the ride backwards and one side forwards if they ever wanted to again!

The greatest part of Twisted Colossus is when you can see your friends on the other track. It isn't the best coaster in the park though. X2 is my favorite.
X2 is amazing!
I am beyond stoked you had an awesome day at the Mountain. Going on a weekday right after the holiday season was a smart choice! Park will be empty and walk-on and I'm so happy you got to experience it that way! Trying to meet up with you when you go to Knotts Berry Farm! Any chance you know what day you're going???

The last time I was on Tatsu I found myself sitting next to some guy who really loved Manta. I told him that Manta was great but nowhere near as intense as Tatsu. After the ride ended he agreed with me. The best part of Tatsu is that you can't see the Pretzel Loop until you are in it. And it is built into the mountain.
Seeing Superman makes me miss Tower of Terror II even more... I hope Six Flags maintains it as long as they can!

Pro tip, don’t put your hands up on a roll for west coast racers lol, I did and my arms hurt for 3 weeks... it was probably because of the g-force, other than that west is a awesome ride! Love it!

I wonder if you might have a theory as to why, considering so many coasters are cloned or semi cloned, that there are only the two Eejanaika and X2 and yes you are right their layouts are different, in the world. I would just love to see this type of coaster have more variations offered globally .

I was at Magic Mountain in June 1976 not long after The Great American Revolution opened (I believe it opened in May 1976). It's really sad what they have done to it since. The braking is immense on the newer version. I can still remember when I entered the park and saw The Great American Revolution for the fist time and saw that corner you show @8:10...there was hardly any breaking at the top of that turn and man-oh-man those cars would zip around that corner so fast!! Now, they have braked it so much. And those new trains!! Have you ever seen such corny looking trains in your life? If you want to know what The Great American Revolution really should look like, check out the movie Rollercoaster from 1977 with George Segal. Those images of the Revolution are one of the few around today that show The Great American Revolution in it's REAL glory.
I went on Revolution around the same time you did in 1976. It was fun .

great!!!! its a 365 park now. havent been in years. they were having a problem with gang members getting into fights and simply being all round assholes. they even had metal detectors at the entrance. hopefully its all better now.

Magic Mountain has such a deep lineup of rides. I really think this park is just as good as cedar point and pre steel vengeance was clearly better.
