Thanks for your demo! I'm also making flat pieces, but not as small. I saw a tip that if you glue your original design down into your container, the mold material won't get in under it.

Hi biblescraps. Just bought my smooth-on kit for this exact purpose. I'm a beginner and there isn't alot of this video's. I love your video. Your video is so helpful. You just gave me the "guts" to actually open it and start using it 😊. Your video is definitely helpful for beginner like me. I love your honest way of presenting it too. Please continue and post more video's like this one. The pre-made rubber molds was so expensive I had to buy this kit but didn't know where to start. Thank you so much.

FYI: I watched your cupcake mold tutorial ( super duper cute!!!) and this one, and just wanted you to know you don’t need to buy these kits! You can buy 100 % silicone window caulking and Naptha ( both items in the paint department) that you can get at any hardware store. If you a quick setting mold for smaller objects that’s ready in 10 minutes or less; it’s just silicone caulking with cornstarch mixed well in a ziplock bag. Another tip is castor oil (not to be confused with the motor oil...the one that can be used on your skin and you can get at Walgreens or Walmart or grocery store in skin care section) mixed with a little rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle for a quick release. Geo Substainable has some good YT videos on how to make them and quantities. Looking forward to checking out some of your other videos and thank you for the inspirations!

Not to be a critical of your process but more for helping you and your viewers in the future get better results with these pieces. That is to use modeling clay pressed down into your containers. So that when you put the pieces in you slightly press them into the clay this will keep the liquid rubber from weeping under the pieces and eliminating an extra process of cutting out the pieces. This will also keep the risk of ruining the mold too.
But great video just the same keep up the good work.

Glue the back down in your silicone mold with Elmer’s or a touch of hot glue so they don’t lift and that should help your molds turn out better since they are closer to the bottom and won’t leak into mold.

Awesome tutorial. Thank you for doing this. Did you say you use amazing resin to fill the mold?

Hello you made your mold so neat!! I have ceramic containers with lids, but they are not airtight. I am looking for what I can use to create them to be airtight. Is silicone what you are using, or silicone caulk safe for food contact? I'd like to use them (containers) as food storage. And if you have better ideas and how, please tell me!!??? Thank you

When u put ur pieces down u want to tape them down so the liquid does not flow under neath the pieces it makes it easier when done so u can just pop out the pieces an they have a clean shape left in the mould ☺ i watched so many videos an it seems that way looks the easiest.

My dad used to say, you should keep it because you never know when you might need again. Have a storage container for your stuff that don't turn out right for recycled stuff.

Maybe the blanks floated to the top? I'm wanting to use this product. I have seen others where they put tape or glue to keep the base flat so the putty doesn't float around or under. Great video thank you!

If you glue down your buttons with a little tacky glue first they wont move around. Grind down the back so they are smooth. when you remove the silicone they will stay on the plastic and you can just pop them off. I have been using this silicone for a couple of years now.

Nice video =) With the method on the packet you need to glue the objects down so they don't float up.

There is black paint on the barrel button. You can use a grill lighter to help pop those bubbles.

I'm thinking that for small charms you might be better off with mold putty because you can just press the charms in from the top. Mold putty doesn't rely on you being able to keep the charm from floating up.

The directions and measurements are accurate, it only meant that you used too small pieces for the amount of molds you first used. Also the container in which you used were too big as well. I'm glad that you were persistence, Trial and error indeed. Glad you're happy with the results. Also for the future save the pieces of molds, they can be used for earrings stoppers as well as keeping anything from sliding from smooth surfaces. With all that being said I will be giving you a thumb up. Looks like it will be the first one. God bless.
