    Just a great mold. I know this is 1 year old but I have friend who work with silicone mold product. They told me for types of castings I do this tip will help silicone molds last longer. Do not use soap and water to wash molds unless absolutely necessary. Use tape to clean mold also I buy a mold release that has a moisturizer in it and after cleaning mold with tape to remove stray glitter and resin pieces (like drips) spray your mold with mold release and let dry. After mold release is dry put mold in plastic bag loosely. Cleaning and adding mold release helps condition the silicone. Using bag helps them from dust but mainly to help them not dry out. If you need brand name of release I use just message me. I got it from Amazon. I hope this helps you or someone who reads this comment. Happy crafting and most of all enjoy it. hugs Sheryl 💙🎨💙

    Instead of baking in the oven, but you could set the “uncured” mold in the trunk of your car. After the time is up roll down the windows for a long time. It is not ‘cheap’ it is called frugal. If you are worried about any air bubbles in the setting mold vibrate from underneath… you can use and orbital sander with no abrasive paper attached. U can use a cordless toothbrush under or if you have one, the little battery operated muscle massager available at any box store or pharmacy. Best of luck

    Thanks you for taking the time to make this video. I have never made a mold but I want a large cross mold and no one had one the size I wanted. So after watching this video I am confident I will be able to do it. I love making resin wall art. Thanks again.

    Very impressive work! I have a lot of this company's mold stuff, but haven't dived in yet. I got the dragon skin 30, and the sorta clear. Each in bucket size, since I want to mold several large things. Great tip on using your scrap as filler! I'd love to see more videos on mold making, resin, and working with clay. Thanks! Thank you for this. I have a question, I have a big crystal, and its one of the ones that is round and the crystal surface is on the inside of the gem, the outside that you hold is the rock surface. I added silicone to it and let it set. Let me say that I did this with 3 other of the same crystals, but they are all flat lays, like the one in this video. Now, my question is how do I get it out effectively? I am having the same issue with the silicone seeping into those tiny spaces. I can't grip the sides either, bc they broke from the center when I was removing it 🥲😰. Lol any info on how to remove it will help, thank you

    idea: you could dip the cheap rests into new silikone first and then put them in and then pour, not sure if that helps but would be nice to know

    I am just starting out. Yes, please tell me the name of products you use. Typing that out is helpful. Also, where have you found supplies cheaper?

    • @hannahstaytonart4975
      @hannahstaytonart4975  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      wantabmer I have a list of all the supplies I use in the description box. I currently buy most of my products from Amazon because they seem to be the cheapest when buying a medium amount. There are probably sites that you can purchase resin supplies in bulk, but the mold maker doesn’t have a long shelf life so I wouldn’t get too much at once. You can get the measuring cups and stir sticks from most craft stores or even dollar stores but the other supplies are cheaper online. I hope this helps!

    Absolutely stunning and if ppl don’t like that you don’t follow every thing your told to do in life then let them go else where, I’m just like you lol I don’t read directions very much and I still don’t own mold release also need to get some but slips mind and so far never needed, but you having lil feather babies I don’t do the baking of the molds either for same exact reason

    Great job but I wanted to let you and your viewers know that this oomoo 25 or 30 brand is the cheapeast worst type to use. It is called TIN CURE and has less then a year shelf life and rips and tears. If you want to make molds that will last longer and not tear. please look for PLATNIUM CURE silicone rubber. like the other kind they sell called mold star 15 slow. that is a platnium cure silicone. I was taught this by one of the main people at smooth-on. Always when using these products always stir well scraping the bottom of the jugs and mixing it back in well. the direction tell you to mix before using be sure you do that well. do not mix your sticks from A to B. use a new stick for each one and always use a 2 cup method of mixing for all silcone and all repoxy resin.

    I just wanted to comment to say that I tried this silicone first when starting mold making and it was... very horrible. At no point did the stickiness EVER go away from the mold or the resin pieces casted in it. (I wanna say I was using Envirotex Lite?) I actually recommend MoldStar 15SLOW for molds instead n.n; It can be casted into right away pretty much. At least, I've never had problems. Also, I've heard more recently that it's not a great idea to scrape the container of silicone like you would resin, because uncured silicone is way more likely to cling on the sides of the cup n.n;; I hope this helps whoever reads this :D
