It's a hunter. It is designed to gut, slice and skin. It is superb for food prep. Winkler knives are tough and well balanced. That blade is a slicer not a froe. But, it is tough enough for wood craft.
@@KnivesoftheRoundTable the modern traditional camp set I went to a place that carries allot of winklers seen the camp axe that would also be a good companion with this knife also looked at the hammer Hawk with para cord & was suprised the weight & balance would be perfect for pack carry I just went ahead & got it in G10 camo with blue ridge hunter in G10 camo also
Thanks for this review. Moreover, despite the total flat grind, the thickness of the blade behind the primary bevel seems significant. So, is this knife really a slicer? Is it good at precise and delicate cuts?
I would say that this is a jack of all trades. Yes it can do fine and delicate cuts and its pretty good for itz but something like the Jaeger, or the General are better at more precise cuts

Winkler definately has a NICHE. His following pays the bills, I have the Blue Ridge Hunter in Maple. American Made. His heat treat is incredible
