Awesome video, cardboard surprisingly destroys edges fast in my testing. Maybe because the fine sand like particles in the cardboard. Also there’s not many winkler cutting tests so also awesome video thanks.
In other news…water is wet and the sun is hot. Jokes aside, I forced myself to EDC’d my belt knife for a year. I did all sorts with it from cooking to bushcraft to dismantling furniture to DIY round the house to general work stuff, card board and pallet straps etc. as you say. It is a bit big and thick. But man is it tough as sh!t. My son cracked a coconut open with it the other day and the coconut husk would wreck most other knife edges but out of curiosity I test the edge and it still sliced paper and shaved without any stropping. Currently looking at the sd1 or operator for edc.
The belt knife is a combat fighting knife, you can thank the bush craft battoning people for the thickness on the geometry. This is why manufacturers or a custom knife makers if you will don’t make sense in geometry because everybody wants to baton wood with their knife instead of using the proper tool.. everybody wants to beat on their knife and then call the knife maker and have them warranty and give them a brand new knife just so they can make contact or exercise or ego or whatever their hangup is for not using the proper tool…
I know you deal with heaving users, but do you have a reccomendation for a neck knife for me. I would not wear it- I would habd it on the bedroom doorknob for emergency use. I would keep it sharp, but it would not be often used.
I edc my belt knife using the tech lock and it rides high and tight and able to conceal. However the best EDC in the winkler line is the Blue ridge hunter… 8 years now and it is still strong…
That’s what I have. I wanted a belt knife, but it was just not worth the extra size for outdoor edc. I visited Mast General Store in NC and found their Winkler exclusive called The General. That was a perfect size. I may grab one this year.
Hi Kevin. That cardboard killed that blade! My main uk dealer has these, but they never seem to sell. Very interesting looking knife tho'. Thanks David ✌️ Edit... everything killed that edge! 😂
I had my CC out today and ready to buy this knife. I love the looks of that blade and that wood sculpted handle is so great, however you just saved my about 400 dollars because this video shows that blade steel maters and this knife doesn't have good steel. I'll get by with my Chris Reeve Pacifica with that big slab of S30V that can cut all day long better than this Winkler can for 12 minutes. It sure looks nice but performance is still what means the most to me when dropping a few hundred bucks on a collectable knife like this one.
This steel is for Extreme Edge Retention. This is built for Bushcraft not EDC. It is an excellent steel for the purpose it's built for. People buying knives just because the aesthetic and not what they are each designed for blows my mind. Stating this steel is bad is actually laughable. It just shows the ignorance on YT. This is for EXTREME USE, not slicing paper and cardboard. There are plenty of good steels and knives built for paper and everyday EDC.
For context these knives are extremely well known in the military due to their extreme durability and toughness. You can take this knife to the field and know that it isn't going to break or fail on you.
The crusher is on par with the field knife would have got a crusher in maple tribal went down to monkey edge they were all sold out just went with black Micarta & got the last reg belt knife in maple for bigger light weight edc usually carry the contingency or the blue ridge contingency has a better quick deployment with that pistol grip handle design
If anyone thinks you can cut that rope and strap with a polished edge, then you don't know anything about knives. Anyone can post a review on TH-cam, some people know exactly what they are talking about, most don't. But hey, I don't know anything at all.
JMHO, but a knife with a 5" blade is not too big to EDC. I have EDCed my Winkler Belt Knife and my Drop Point Crusher and have not felt weighed down. That's just me, though; i like a mid sized knife for all around use. I just got a Winkler Woodsman and am EDCing that now. It is a great size for EDC - big enough for serious cutting, but not too big.
Man these cut test intros are so epic. Gets me pumped every time!
For real Doc!

You’r right cardboard destroy edge completely even cutter. If it use to cut cardboard, the edge will be destroyed.

That’s awesome! If ya want something tough, it’s definitely a great choice
Man I love the Cut TEST VIDEOS!!! BLADE CARTEL !!!!!!
🤘🤘
I EDC my Crusher Belt knife with rubber grip, but I am a real man, and a great WARRIOR!
Haha sounds like it!!
ok warrior good choice on the winkler
Crusher, belt knife, etc are survival knives. Not edc or bushcraft or artsy fartsy knives. They do their intended purposes extremely well.

Well said.

you could try a demko armiger...they are cheap too
Definitely not an edc , more of an outdoors knife, camping , fishing , hunting , that stuff is more suited for that big thick blade
CRKT Minimalist
It is on sale and looks perfect- I ordered it@@doodysdaggers

Cutting stuff. Real life. Cool. Nice looking knife.
80CRV2 is not an edge holding champion, its fairly tough. Good test video, think it could have been heat treated a bit harder. Thanks
Seems like it, yeah. I’m sure it is super tough though
I didint expect much from that stell at the end of the day it is not a Cru Wear.
I'd just carry it for self-defense. I don't cut much other than food daily so🤷♂️
I don't think the crusher is good for zombies. Maybe the operator? The edge retention on the crusher isn't good
@@outboundflight4455 it's extremely good for what it's made for. Bushcraft. Not paper lol
I use 600 grits diamonds and the fine edge is right on
Why you say it’s not good for EDC?
Been carryover mines for 5 yrs edc perfect for me
For me I prefer something smaller and a thinner more slicey blade
The crusher was not made for utility
When the knife that was made for utility is named the winkler utility knife
Hi Kevin. That cardboard killed that blade!

Thanks David ✌️
Edit... everything killed that edge! 😂
Haha yep everything did

I have the ultimate EDC knife, Yuna hard 2
I think we can all agree that winklers are good for just about anything but cutting
lol
You should of got the fuckin blue ridge for an edc or the regular belt knife
The crusher is on par with the field knife would have got a crusher in maple tribal went down to monkey edge they were all sold out just went with black Micarta & got the last reg belt knife in maple for bigger light weight edc usually carry the contingency or the blue ridge contingency has a better quick deployment with that pistol grip handle design
