Thanks for posting this . I ve always spliced multiplait 2 under 2 but love the tidy finish of 1 under one . Completely different splice . Most helpfull a well put together tutorial .
Thanks for this excellent video. I followed it in detail as I was doing my first ever 8 ply splice and was very happy to create a nice neat one. And the second one I did also went well thanks to your clear instructions. 👍
It is a co-polymer blend of polypropylene and high modulus polyethylene resins. We recommend 3 sets of tucks for natural fiber ropes and 5 sets of tucks for synthetic ropes, so the amount of tucks we did in the video is sufficient. Hope that helps!
This is a great vid. that clearly shows the direction and pattern of tucks. Just a question. Why are you starting your first tuck in pairs? Doing an eye I've always started with 8 and speared the first two straight through the middle into the back or outside lay positions, it also locks a hard eye nicely in place. Also starting a join splice that way you wouldn't have the pairing or a tight knitt start for a good looking join splice. I've always tapered by halving the diameter of the tails at/on the inside lay with a hot knife and hide the reduction point with the following tuck and continue splicing to desired finish. Each to their own I guess. Thanks.
I'm looking for information on how to split 8 braid to a chain for an anchor rode. I presume it'll be similar to this splice, but not exactly the same.

Ok for you pros , but no one can follow that left to left sometimes right to left left left ect were lost bin it and buy a chain it’s impossible 😊further on it got worse with single inboard and outboards ought to be advertised as a vid for professional rope makers to show what you can do not for anyone else sorry but be realistic please
This Flemish eye is by far the easiest to follow and understand. Thanks very much.
It's not a Flemish eye
Flemish is for wire not rope
Having brand new rope certainly helps maneuver that fid easily. Excellent tutorial. Thank you!

Would you be able to do a video splicing 8 strand with a thimble ? I struggle to get the eye splice tight around the thimble
I can show you a way of doing that properly if you pm me I ll send you a video back of how I go about it so the thimble never slackens
Well done, I needed a refresher. Cheers
Great tutorial and well produced! Thanks!
Is this rope polypropylene? If so, it must be very slippery. Is there enough tucks for this type of rope?

Any plastic thermo shrink needed around the new strand section ?
Shouldn't be needed, it holds together well.
