Nicely done video! I was taught 3 1/2 fid lengths for the bury with one of those for the taper. Also, I always found Selma Fids so much easier to use for any 12 strand hollow braid work. I’ve always made my marks, made the first loop then made the second loop stretched and inverted it first. Then I use a piece of doubled over baling wire to pass through the first loop. Use a regular fid to stretch out my inverted loop and then place the two ends of the baling wire into the fid and push it through the inverted loop. As you pull it through, it emerges and untwists itself automatically. , then mark the length of your bury on the other rope and add 1 fid length, bury and pull out to taper then milk it back in as you did. I use this for stage and stunt work so I’m frequently splicing backstage i very little light. For me, this is just an easier sequence than trying to revert the twist with the other rope through it. Thanks again!

Great video
What’s the length of fid for 3/8
Previously, I've seen this described as the Mobius Brummel Splice.
I believe a möbius Brumell is what it’s called when making a loop.
Do you ever splice with the individual strands with 12 strand rope ?
