    I had the same issues when i made body butters. I, and everyone else for that matter, HATED the way they would leave the skin greasy for hours on end. I ended up formulating more of a "cream pot" lotion recipe to be called my "body butter" for my shop. Its basically a heavy weight lotion but because of the ratio of butters i use in mine i also call my "lotion" a body butter. I'm so glad to find this video because i was concerned if i was advertising it wrong because i too have water in my "body butter". I love and appreciate all the videos from you that i have watched. What you do is amazing for the community.

    Thank you so much Cory, I made this about an hour ago and I’m so in love with it. I struggled for the longest to come up with a non greasy body butter. This was so easy, my skin loves it. I shared my results on a body butter FB page. So you should have more sales for this body butter recipe coming in. Whoever is reading this, don’t hesitate to purchase. Just do it! You will never by lotion/body butter again because now you can make your own and sell it.

    I wouldn't call it a body butter but body cream. You made a thick lotion, hence a cream. It looks luscious and really attractive!

    I know what you mean about the grease and oil residue your talking about. Some butter leave the oil residue on the skin and I can’t stand it because it sticks to my leather seats and makes my steering wheel slippery because it’s on my hands so I love this recipe! I love watching you as well

    I LOVE IT 💟💟
    However I divided into 4 different scents so I used fragrance oils differently
    I used 1 table spoon per batch I hope it’s ok
    Any suggestions??

    i think that some times even the fragrance could react like some fragrance in cold process soap could cause the fresh soap mix to accelerate and in some liquid soaps where you want the soap clear, or thick, some fragrance could make it "milky" or thin.....so i think that could also be the case here as well......since i have not made bath and beauty products, though i want to which is why i look into these videos and many soap makers do get this same question as well.......and it's nice to know that this thinning of product doesn't just happen with soap but also with body butters and lotions as well.....thanks for the tutorial........

    The problem with the beauty industry is that they care more about their product looking good, than selling a products that hasn't been altered, and maintains all its actual benefits. They bleach and machine process their products so they're esthetically pleasing to the eye; and in turn wash away everything valuable in their products. Which is why so many are moving on to natural eco-cert products that aren't refined, bleached or etc.

    Hi Cory, I enjoy your video and signed up to your Patreon.
    I tried a smaller batch of this recipe last night. It hasn't been a full 24 hrs yet. It's a very moisturizing and non greasy recipe. The only issue (which I wanted to ask for clarification) is mine feels very fluffy like a souffle instead of a thick cream-likr consistency. Did I over whip it? It certainly does the job for it's intended purpose but would appreciate some feedback so I know how to improve on the end product. Thank you ♥️

    • @sauboonsoaps
      @sauboonsoaps 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The step after you added + stick blended your cool down ingredients (preservative + FO), do you continue to blend or just let the batter thicken as it cools. I continued to alternate in hand stirring & hand stick blending. Then I used a stand-up mixer to whip. Maybe I shouldn't have whipped it and let it just sit and setup to that thick consistency I want

      @@sauboonsoaps Hi there, I am so glad you like this recipe. Yes, it sounds like you may have incorporated air into it while whipping. yes, in this video she added her preservative into her fragrance and mixed it well.

      Formulas containing no water (Anhydrous) don't need water however its highly recommended especially in products where a person will dip their hands in. I would also in this case recommended an antioxidant so just to keep the oils in the product fresher longer. However, any formulation containing even a drop of water(Aqueous) 100% needs a preservative. It is a non negotiable. Be careful when choosing preservatives because some only work in Anhydrous formulations and some only work in Aqueous.

      @@SunshineSoapandCandleCompany ok thank you, question I am trying to come up with a standard recipe to make 40 2oz body butters with cbd powder and add frangrance oils for different scents. I live in Texas and its hot. I want to use coco butter and shea butter and be able to make it year round. How much would you charge me to make a recipe ?

    Sorry to comment again but after watching this video in its entirety I wanted to tell you the story of my first time making this body butter. Well I followed the directions and I was sitting there waiting for it to thicken and I didn't realize that it takes hours to thicken completely...lol (sometimes my brain doesn't function and it was my first time ever making lotion/body butter) so I dumped it out. Then I made it a second time and again I was like, why isn't this thickening? It's been a half hour and it's still so fluid!? So I went to dump it again and my husband grabbed the tub of body butter away from me and says "it probably takes more than a few minutes to thicken! Give it time!" So after two hours or so he checks on it and it was thickening up nicely. So I felt a little sick about wasting a beautiful batch of this but now I love to make it and I'm more patient. Thank God for my hubby because who knows what I'd be doing if he didn't stop me LOL

      lol! That is the best story EVER!! This body butter does take a while to thicken up so I am so glad you shared this experience! This will help so many people making it the first time.

    You can call it whatever you like ?... WATER = Lotion. No other name for it... The fact all oils are hard doesn't change the fact its a lotion...

      The Body Shop sells EMULSIFIED body butters (containing water) and sells them as just that. the consistency is that of a body butter meaning its a body butter, a "lotion" has to have more than i believe 70% water making the end product thinner and LOTION-LIKE

    • @StaceyWilsonRE
      @StaceyWilsonRE 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ritualcareco.3649 Call it whatever you like but ANY water regardless of percentage is a lotion. Body butter is all butters with sometimes oils to thin. No water and no preservative needed. Granted its a super thick lotion, and I like it! The body shop simply calls it emulsified body butter for marketing purposes, but technically it's a lotion.
