I loved that you did this by hand. I have a Kitchen Aid, but it's fun to do things the “old-fashioned” way. we have more control, and I think things taste better. Thank you for sharing.🤗
You brought back memories of my grandma make beef and noodles from the 1950s… After watching, I couldn’t resist trying, and now we’re having my late grandma’s special dinner tonight. My first few noodles were cut way too big and cooked up like dumplings, but after rolling the dough very very thin and cutting narrower, they’re just perfect. Cooking the noodles in a rich beef broth gave them an awesome flavor! Looking forward to making chicken and noodles next. Thank you so much.
This is why i know them! Seems like everybody's gma had a beef n noodles recipe! Im a cook now so i jazz it up quite often but the base is still beef and homemade egg noodles
I loved when grandma made noodles. Our nighttime snack before bed was noodles in near scalded hot milk, butter & salt & pepper. Pepper & hot milk helps you sleep better.
Hello from the UK,Thanks so much for this Pasta Recipe,I am now going to make my own Chicken and noodles😃, I love cooking as my first wife wasn't great,I learned to cook,My second wife is even worse🤣 so I cook most things for us and guests👍. I love your honest ,innocent way, and it doesn't sway you at all , Fantastic, I will come back to your site again. once again Many thanks for a great Video. B
That is as clear a tutorial as I think you could get. Thankyou. The Noddles I want to make, the reason for watching this video, will be broad ones for a particular recipe. Many thanks.
My Grandmother made them the same way but she never used water. My sister and I used to make them with my mom and we never used water either. Thanks for sharing your recipe with us! ❤
I was delighted to see you rolling the dough up before cutting the noodles. That's the way my mother made homemade noodles and it was easy peasy. Great video! ❤
Thank you sooooo much for this video ! My daughters grandma on her dads side wrote out this same recipe for me 15yrs ago but couldn’t really read it due to it fading and when I came acrossed your video I was so excited!! This will be my first time making the noodles tonight. I have subscribed to your channel 🤗
I love making egg noodles! Gonna try the roll sides to the middle cutting trick! But I like to use extra egg yolk instead of the water. Small batch 1c AP flour, 1 egg, pinch or so salt. Mix in well if dry add an egg uolk or 1 tbs water. The extra egg yolk makes richer and pretty yellow. Of course I have my own chicken eggs so my yolks are decadent, lol!
Perfect!!🥰🥰when me and my husband were 1st married back in 1987, we learned how to make this pasta, and we loved making it together!!! And we did it exactly how you make it, except the best part was unrolling them by hand🥰🥰🥰🥰 and we rolled it out and floured it, and then rolled it to be cut. Perfect chicken and noodles every time🥰🥰😋😋😋
Following in Mom's footsteps I have made chicken and noodle for holiday dinners most of my life. You certainly showed an old dog some new tricks with using the knife to unroll the dough.
I love your blouse beautiful. This was the second time in one week that I came across your recipes so I subscribed. We are on the same page cooking wise! The other one was chocolate covered cherries 🍒 I haven't made them yet but should start so I can gift them for Valentine's ❤ day!!!! Thank you for making time to show us your skills I appreciate your time. You are very pretty and talented. ❤
Well done Louise! I've been trying to make my own gluten free egg noodles (celiac family) and I haven't been successful at all. I wonder if this technique would work better for gluten free egg noodles than using a mixer 🤔
I roll the dough out and found a small noodle cutter. It looks like a pizza cutter but has like 3 or 4 smaller roller/blades and so I use it like the pizza cutter and roll it in one direction over the dough.
You make beautiful looking noodles! I will try your double roll up method with this recipe. I remember trying to make these with my Gma’s recipe a looong time ago and ended up getting tough results. Any ideas what went wrong and have you ever experienced this? Hoping this recipe is fool-proof enough for me so I can make chicken and noodles for a nostalgic winter meal with yummy leftovers. Thanks for the great video!
@the salted pepper Oh this is so cool. On your last example I was waiting for you to stack the three and cut, but perhaps they would stick together. Can these be frozen? If there are extra noodles can they be sauteed and perhaps used as a side? Sorry I have no experience with egg noodles. TIA
Would this recipe work with gluten free flour? My son is gluten intolerant By the way, I found 1 of your ninja foodi videos recently and have been hooked ever since. You make everything look easy and delicious
Ohhhh Louise, a lady after my own heart, I cannot stand dough etc. stuck to my hands either! I have the perfect dinner plate for that dough, it has sides which don’t slope but come straight up from the base!
Hi could you please tell me the size plate your using as i don't think i can find one that big at the moment , Regards Trev ,From across the pond , PS. just learning to make pasta.
Just discovered you. Your so cute! Thanks for this. Do you know egg noodles are only pasta safe fir diabetics? Learned that from Lydia on tv. CAN YOU JUST SCRAMBLE BEFORE HAND THAN POUR IN? IVE SEEN IT DINE IN A BLENDER.
I haven't made pasta since Jr High but I did buy a pasta cutter that goes on my stand mixer but haven't broke it in yet 🤷♀️ but I am planning on making all my pastas from scratch when we move in the near future thx for the video cause Jr High was awhile ago and my memory is not as good as it used to be 😂 have a great holloween yall 🎃 be safe and for all yall with kids don't forget to check the goodies before the kids start consuming em
I love your videos, watching you makes my day.I love your gorgeous blouse,it's so pretty on you..haven't made noodles or homemade pasta since I was a young girl with Mamma..I will try your recipe asap.Thank you for this great video .
dear lady, if u think this is easier than buying a pkg at the store, bless your heart..im old, arthritic and not enuf grease in my elbows..i made these when i was a kid but used a cookie sheet instead of a plate. rule of thumb was 1 egg per cup of flour for dumplings or schnitzel..for chicken paprikas.
So sorry for the arthritis as it runs through my female elders, but your age and experience is a blessing. I thank you for passing on tips to those that do not know you!!
Lol.. not easier.. just easy. My husband absolutely loves ❤️ homemade egg noodles 🍜 😋. He never ate much leftover chicken before, but now I make it with noodles. Yum...
Yes, I think I go over that in the written post. I would lay them out on a tray lined with parchment and freeze them in a single layer, then when they are frozen you can put them into freezer baggies.
Hope you will post your chicken and noodles recipe some day! Btw, you must have gotten this I’m sure, but I must say you look so much like DJ from Full House (I def say that as a compliment)!!
back in the 1960;s bbc did an april fool spoof on spagetti tree noodle harvest..my ex saw it and and asked if it was true,,i told him of course noodles grow on trees in italy..the idiot believed me for 6 yrs & then i told him i was as surprised as him .. he believed that too.
From what I understand the dough doesnt need any water until the dough is together and its too dry. Adding ¼ cup water forced you to use too much flour, more than ½ cup of additional flour. Ive never seen this recipe. The ratio seems a off. Also, since you didnt let it rest, the dough is springing back. Dough that springs back is an inducation of the gluten not relaxing after forming in the dough.
I loved that you did this by hand. I have a Kitchen Aid, but it's fun to do things the “old-fashioned” way. we have more control, and I think things taste better. Thank you for sharing.🤗
I would have never thought of the roll up to center- I will do it next time !!!! Thank you for the tip
My Mom Used to let the strips dry some and then would stack them and she would cut the tiniest little matchsticks so delicious in Chicken soup

I don’t have a stand mixer and truly appreciate you showing how things can be made without one. Luv your channel and presentation style. 💖

Well Well thank you that’s the best way , easiest way I’ve seen noodles made . Thank you , you kept it real , from start to finish .
I have been making these since I was 14, I’m now 75. I always made them on my countertop.
That’s what my grandmother and mother did it on was the countertop. And now I do it.
@@Thejeff1969I love hearing good history repeating itself❤️❤️
Well I learned something today. Thank you. My grandma always made them but as a kid I never paid attention. Always wanted to learn. Thank you

Thank you for sharing . Loved the simplicity of the recipe & your easy techniques & tips. I’ll be giving this a try soon. Hope you have a lovely day.
I put coarse pepper inn mine too. I been making these since I was 8 years old! So good!

Great video. I was wondering if you can store these for a later use?
Excellent video. I love making noodles. To me making noodles or bread is very therapeutic.
You can use cooked spinach to make green healthy noodles. Love them that way!
I’ve never made noodles. I can imagine they are much better than store bought though. Maybe I’ll give it a try.
Love this. Can’t wait to try making egg noodles. Thank you.
just made a batch they are soooo goood
I'm so glad you liked them! Did you put them in something or just boil them?
@@TheSaltedPepper cooked them in a homemade beef broth.
How much salt do you use?
I’ve tried a couple of time to make them without much luck. I’m going to try your way now.
Try using Asian cooking chopsticks to mix this and other doughs.. works great.
Turned out😮 Almost like moms use to make , thanks❤

Not dough related, but where did you buy your shirt? It is gorgeous!
Thank you for your recipe!
I honestly don't remember, but since I hate clothes shopping, probably Walmart! LOL
I have a pasta machin to put through and thin wvenly and make noodles. Its a lufesaver.
do you boil right away? how can you store them if you want some later?
I make little balls with my dough and roll it out a flour it and stack them up. Then take a knife and slice they fall apart easy.

Just use your counter
Can you freeze them before cooking them or do you need to dry them for long term storage . They look so easy thank you for sharing ❤️
I dry mine and then bag them and put in the freezer. Drying noodles let's them absorb the flavor like chicken or beef broth when cooking.
I would freeze them in a single layer on sheet pan lined with parchment and once frozen, put into baggies.

One would say realistic for a person with a regular job and a busy schedule no shame. It’s a lot better than fast food.
Can these be frozen until ready to use?
Whole wheat flour makes noodles seem tender and have more fiber. I prefer them!
can I freeze the made noodles? and how would I do it? hoping you will tell me later. thanks in advance, and for all you do.

Kudos to anyone who makes these. I’ll continue us to buy mine.

Yes that helps because I don't own one of those mixers
What’s the difference noodles and pasta?

That's not how my mom taught me. I'll stick with the way mom did it. I do thank you, though, for your version.
Can you tell me how much salt?
2 1/2 AP Flour
6 Tbsp water
??? Salt
