Nice review, sadly I was considering two 90ltr versions of the transporter, though the lack of compression straps is ridiculous. Agree with the comments, we had Swiss duffel bags for ~20 years, and I wish I had retained them for repair, considering how minor their damage was after dozens of trips, I just expected to find a robust replacement... wrong! Since then a pair of High Sierra 66 and 81cm bags, the former with wheels that failed 48 hours into a 4 month Euro trip... the latter 6 weeks later. Considered the Ogio, the 9800s look like they are built like a tank, though unfortunately weigh as much as one, and is oversized for our travel requirements - particularly trains, and negotiating the many steps up and down euro trains, or the Paris metro! The Thule you mention is unavailable here(AU) currently, though retails around $650, and I need two bags! I considered the Dakines 110ltr split rollers - though user reviews suggest the fabric on those is easily damaged in basic use. The Tatonka barrel roller bags are worth considering for the price, and waterproof, a few patchy reviews though not too bad, and the wheels are decent. Not too many choices in the 90ltr range, with a decent (pair of) wheels, heavy duty zips, and strong fabric.

Great video Duncan. I also looked high and low for the Berghaus Mule but as you may expect cannot find one anywhere. I’m currently drawn to one of The North Face rolling duffels for my golf travels. I don’t think I need as much capacity as you so I think the 30 inch bag will do fine. Ideally I would like one of The Club Glove rolling duffels which is the same make as my golf club cover bag; but they are crazy prices.

Thanks for the review, many points you mentioned to not buy the Osprey.
You ever checked out the "Sons of Aloha" rolling bag?

Did you ever find a good replacement travel duffel? I'm looking for a similar thing and appreciate the Osprey review. Eddie Bauer Expedition might be the answer and is less expensive than the Osprey.

Ho Kevin....there is a Thule bag I like but was expensive and luckily out of stock ....I actually settled on a Amazon Basics bag....ticks virtually all boxes and was only £74 . Its clamshell , semi vigid lower half , compression straps inside and out. Internal and external pockets ....I'll find a link

100% correct about needing external compression straps. Otherwise the shapeless bag's contents will be at the mercy of baggage handlers and their machines.

Hi, I just watched your review of the Osprey Rolling Transporter 120. In the video, you mentioned that you were going to find another bag. Which one did you end up buying?

Also looking at the Dakine 110L
Half robust, half soft. Still has compression straps. Osprey removed them for some reason. Probably neater design.. im afraid the Dakine it won't stand on its own when half empty because it's a split design.

you're likely happy about the new osprey sojourn wheeled duffles....i know I am!

I'll check them out ...first glance says thumbs-up for compression straps....tho 80lt is a bit small for my needs...are they going to do bigger.

I just ordered the 130....they also have a 100. I also have the older 'shuttle' version in 100 and my son has it in the 130 and loves it. This seems to be a good upgrade from that. @@duncan.scobie
