I went through this with Lance - started watching cycling because of him and Sagan.
The doping news crushed me, didn't watch cycling for a few years after.
Now these guys are putting on a ridiculous display of human physical limits - and Pogacar especially seems so chill after a really difficult stage. I love the guy, I root for him every race he's in. He's smart, funny, humble and well-liked by his peers. And he's an absolutely brilliant cyclist - definitely going down in history.
But my heart cannot handle another 'Lance' situation.
I respect what these men are able to do, 3 weeks in - day after day, with two rest days sandwiched among 21 days of racing.
I understand that most sportspeople dope in some way or the other - it's not uncommon.
I just really REALLY hope there's no repeat of what we saw with Lance.
    -
Congrats Tadej! And bravo to not just Jonas but also Remco. Jonas is just recovering from a pretty bad crash, but people forget Remco fell almost 15-20 feet back in 2020 into a ravine, and miraculously survived. Both these guys are fighters, coming back from the brink. Much respect all round! But when it comes to TdF - hopefully Pogacar keeps the streak going next year :)

Do you remember how you felt in 2012/2013 when most of his competitors had already been caught, but he hadn't? Jan Ulritch had been caught, Floyd landis had been caught, Marco Pantani had been caught and was dead, etc. I wonder about that time: why would anyone be surprised he was taking PEDs when all the people he beat were confirmed to be taking PEDs?

Jonas has endeared himself to the fans of cycling with his daily fights. We know what he went through so to see him fighting is sheer joy. Pain for his legs but this is all good TV. This has been the best tour i have seen in twenty years. No boring trains on the front that take up the whole day.
There was a man holding up a placard on the left side at the roughly 5:21 mark. It said Ulle war sauber. I speak german and was surprised to read that as ulrich himself confessed to doping. Pogi wasn't even trying to win this stage. He was just trying to make sure Jonas does not gain any time on him. He allowed everyone else attack and he followed their wheel perfectly. Once Jonas finished his attack and managed to pull him and Pogi to the front. He simply had to attack, who in the right mind wouldn't.
An easy stage win for Pogi, and he is completely fresh for the Time Trial. A double 6 stage win in the Giro and TdF looks set.

New rules have the yellow jersey rider tested daily. It's just the advancement of sports science, nutrition and better equipment that is leading to the record breaking stuff. We see it in ALL sports.

@@masoodrehman118 You know Armstrong was tested regularly during his career, that didn't stop him from slipping through the cracks for a long time. If the detection methods improve, so do the doping techniques. And while the yellow jersey wearer is subject to regular doping controls, he is not systematically tested every day. The UCI and WADA rules provide for random and targeted testing, but that doesn't mean that the leader of the general classification is tested every day without exception. Testing based on random and targeted sampling strategies. Stage winners and leaders of various classifications are regularly tested, but not necessarily every day. It is incorrect to say that the yellow jersey is tested daily. The tests are frequent and rigorous, but not systematically daily for every wearer of the yellow jersey.

Yesterday, the plan from the get go was for him to for the stage win. Not so today...and yet by what happened on the road, it became what made sense. And boom it was done. It's just too easy.

Cada etapa que pasa supera a la anterior, grandes Carapaz y Enric, grande el equipo Soudal, grande Remco y Vingegaard.
