You’re a powerhouse when it comes to teaching the art of djing. You’re the only one I know who makes it totally relatable and understandable in a way that is not daunting. Please don’t stop creating your dj school videos. I honestly believe that the understanding, motivation and skill increase in the fine art of mixing is increased exponentially from your content. Andrew, as you know I have gone through your masterpiece of online course, what would be the next step/your next lesson that I can buy? I'm from Germany as you may remember and can't just fly over to Sydney. However, I promise to visit you one day in Sydney ;D
For everyone else, I can highly recommend the course, Andrew doesn't say a word too much, he keeps his promise and I would buy a continuation anytime if it existed.
Did you buy the entire package and work through all the Performance Plus videos - next step IMO is always introducing a 3rd deck - especially once you reach a plateau :)
@@ClubReadyDJSchoolYes i bought all 4 curses :D I gonna need a new setup , if i wanna start off with 4 decks. A two channel mixer with 4 decks makes it far too complicated :D At the moment im using the DDJ-SB3 by pioneer and it Imitates my self in many directions. I had the ability to play during a live stream on a DDJ-1000 and it felt like i would loose my
shackles. never the less i would more likely go for a standalone, course my slowly laptop keeps me away from the daily training sessions.The DDJ-1000 is awesome, but i would prefer the XDJ RX2 or XZ The XZ would be perfect even if a CDJ 3000 setup is even more awesome, you have even more flexibility course of the way you see the wave form on the CDJ 3000, i don't even need hot cues on the CDJ 3000. BU i could not afford a 6.5K€ setup. also the XDJ XZ would be too expansive at the moent for me (2.2K€) I will have too make some money i guess :D
Man, you are really awesome, I have been mixing for about 5 years but not as often as I would have liked. I do some of these from time to time but it's nice to have someone explaining to better understand the logic behind it. Almost all the DJs surrounding me don't use gimmicks, they are more of continuous and linear mixing. It's nice to have some skills that make you unique. Thank you so much. 🤜🏻🤛🏻

Great video! would love to see some quick chops or even a mix on hard techno/schranz. These are genres where all songs have similar energy so the flow and variance of the set is determined by the djs ability on chops/fx/accapellas.

How do you mix tracks which fluctuate in BPM? I have a few which rekordbox either cannot seem to analyze properly, and at least one old disco track which goes from around 117 BPM up to 122, which means looping is incredibly hard and I'd need to adjust the BPM on the fly to make it work; it's almost impossible.
You could try set a manual loop, then beat match that with another track that has a consistent BPM, and then drop into that. I’m personally not sure how you could chop between tracks though, unless you constantly adjust the tempo to be in time and only chop in short bursts.
Quite a big answer is needed here as there are many variables, I'll work towards a video about this :)

I've had this problem. I ended using Ableton warping bar by bar to a continuous tempo. rekordbox also has a dynamic analysis setting you could check out - it's not perfect but it does automatically adjust tempo mid song. just remember to turn it off for tracks with consistent tempo
@@ClubReadyDJSchool Andrew I’d love a video where you break down ways of mixing together 2 commercial songs (Rihanna, Pitbull etc), one at 65-70 bpm and the other at 85-90.
I find it so tough because the vocals almost never stop, and this makes me lose all the hope for mixing at college parties for my friends.. 😭😭

Seems that matching gain very very well is critical to this working. Also, why the channel faders instead of cross fader?

Chopping isn’t something I rehearse, and it isn’t even something I attempt unless I’m greatly familiar with the two songs I’m going to be chopping. It’s also something I do very sparingly. I think it’s also best to chop throughout the two songs rather than just a couple of times during them especially when the two songs are popular/crowd favorites. That’s my two cents anyway. Amazing job as usual on the tutorial! Love your videos!

how can anticipate that the chop is going to be not good like at 9:45 ? Knowing the tracks? Looking at the waves?
That seems so hard to predict when doing these swaps (chops)

Always enjoy your vids. I'm an OLD DMC scratch dude and love this shizz. I use the cross fader to do chops as it frees up the other hand to with mess with eq's, filters. PEACE!

might just be preference, but i see the cross fader to be less quick in switching between the two. I usually eq before the chopping anyway but think we all do as we feel hehe

Cool, But you're using both hands on the up faders so no EQ control or ability to jump to other cue points on the fly. Defo not quicker with up faders. Either way that's why DJing is so amazing as we all have different quirks. PEACE

Brother if you want to keep gravitating towards Drum and Bass be my guest. Freestylers, Dom & Roland and sooo many others brought me into the fold of electronic music so many years ago and hearing DnB live sets always brings back the good vibes and nostalgia.
Out of curiosity though, when DJing in a club how taboo is it to sprinkle in some old school tracks in with the new ones? Merely a bedroom DJ at the moment so I am my crowd and I feel I may be a bit biased with my track selection and set flows haha.
I like putting in old tracks - works a treat IMO :) I like keeping things fun, upbeat and familiar!

Very cool concept and I'm certain it took a lot of practice to nail the routine, but you're right it wouldn't come off anywhere else except a riddim/dubstep context in his case.

Nice to see the different types of chopping. It's interesting to see the 'theory' behind it, I was just messing around so far and listening to the music, probably already did some of those chops without knowing.
But Andrew, something that's been bothering me for a while now: how the hell do you hear your cueing song in your headphones? The volume mixer is always up to master, I'm always swinging around from left to right and you just stay on master without a problem. I don't get it 😅
On the club mixers (DJM), it's all about how balanced your channel levels are with your master levels - see how on the mixer my channel levels are so low - this is mainly due to me keeping the master output down for recording purposes - however this means the mixing dial needs to be closer to master as the cue channels are so much louder - hope that makes sense - kind of hard to explain.
@@ClubReadyDJSchool Ah yes, that explains it, it's a bit weird that it's different from the DDJ's tho. The way DDJ's do it seems more userfriendly to me. Since the master cue is based on the channels volume, you always get the balance right between the two channels when the headphone volume knob is in the middle.
