- Over the years we have tested many knives. With that our top 5 favourites kept changing.
4 years ago we showed our top 5 knives ( yes 5 years sounds better with the top 5 thing). Anyway... what has changed? is it changed? What knives have we come to like most over all these years? This is not a top 5 best knives or knives you should buy. This is the top 5 knives that we personally love the most. May it be nostalgia, an experience with it or just because it's that good.

This popped up in my feed today, just as I have started using my Fallkniven F1 again. So glad to have shared this journey with you guys, with Fallkniven and not listened to the haters on this. I have 3 Fallkniven vg10 knives and they have all been punished and abused while I was learning. They are all still shiny and looking good, razor sharp. I smashed the F1 through the biggest hardest pieces of Australian hard wood, lost hiking and found and it's just an awesome knife. Thanks for this video, it was a good one!

you are the one channel i have faithfully been watching and following for years, usually ill follow a channel for 6 months to a year and a half and loose interest.. this one however i have been following since about 2016 faithfully on all 3 of my TH-cam accounts.

Just found this channel...very entertaining content. Me and two friends did this kind of knife collecting/ friendly competition back in the 1970s in U.S. when there was very few choices for purchased brand name knives - and Puma was the only really expensive/exotic one available (super pricey). Back then steel was either high carbon or 440C...no "super steels" like you guys grew up with. Now there are Ike hundreds if brands to choose from and more custom makers...makes it much more fun and exciting to collect...
Thanks to you I bought a malanika leuku and I use it all the time. When I'm prepping the wood for BBQ at home or on medieval festival/camps

Wise choices, guys! I was very glad to see that the story of the knife is taking a stronger place in your decisions, it really does matter. For many of these top knife reviews I have always gone with my Grohmann Type #3 Military, because it has a history with me, not because I was in the military, but because the knife sort of found me, instead of me picking up the knife at a shop. I do my best to keep it razor sharp and use it camping, fishing and hunting, it is not some shiny desk queen of a blade! As always I have really enjoyed the episode, and look forward to next week! I feel like I'm following you! I was kidding before about the Grohmanns being 'cool in 1963' (but they really were)! They are good values and tradition that deep is rare these days but for Case, Marbles, etc., and Old Hickory drop-forged 1095. I just recovered a dozen 50+ year-old Old Hickory beet, cabbage, and hops harvesting knives and they are the same off the line in 2021 as in 1955. Ha! I'll be putting them back in the hands of farmers later this month.

Great video guys! What a difference a year (or two) makes, and refreshing that some of your staples remained. Surprised that the Malanika Puukko didn't show up. Maarten you'll be shocked to find out that earlier today DLT had several unsold Gunny Scandis stashed away in their inventory, and had put them up for sale today. They went real quick, I was fortunate enough to order one. The handle material I don't like, so it'll get re-handled. We're still advocating to encourage DLT and Bark River for another production run. Love that Idun NL5.

I have a TK3, and love it. Mine is desert ironwood - a bit more edc than mop. I’ve also 2 Rocksteads - my favourite edc knives. My TK3 was featured on my channel on Sunday, the Rocksteads are tomorrow (14/09/21 12:00GMT).

Was out of the knife loop/forums for awhile but recently returned and am reading a lot of positive comments for Nathan Carother's knives. Looks to be replacing Survive! as THE knife to get for the money after S! have completely dropped the ball delivering product as promiced.
I find it interesting how a brand just comes out of nowhere to become so widely recommended.

Terävä is the garberg killer for sure. And the 140 is even better in my opinion
On the other hand, most people I know of, that have both, all like the 110 more. Let me add something that everybody forgets to say, is that their steel, feels like custom. (heat treatment and looks) but as soon as you get it, you have to reprofile the edge,to a scandi-vex, while always trying to keep the same edge bevel height So that the edge angle won't become larger than it has to be) . That's the only way, this knife can perform as it should. Factory edge bevel, is so poorly made, that just reminds you, why you paid only half the money, that this knife should cost otherwise!

@DTL I prefer 140 because my hands are large. 110 feels too small for me
@@greekveteran2715 about the secondary bevel, you're completely right. I do not like secondary v edge but in my experience it's not always poorly made. My father's knife had a horrible v edge which didn't cut at all while mine came razor sharp. I had to reprofile it anyway and now it's scandi-vex.
Having to reshape the edge is not a big deal for me honestly.

We have the same old tradition in Northern England, to always give a silver coin for a knife or scissors. Still love my bark River 1.

Since you are finally getting into folders, you need to check out the Enzo Birk 75. It comes in scandi is easily my favorite pocket knife. If only they made it in 3v! The scandi comes in d2.

I bought the Bark River UpBravo knife in A1. Actually it was a fathers day gift from my wife. I have a great wife. I would like a Bravo or Fox River or Aroura.

The number one knife that I use the most is a utility knife with replaceable blades in the handle I got for free at work. I have used it multiple times in a day for over twenty years. I keep it in my work toolbox.
I remember the video of Mickie's NL5, that was a landmark production and one of the most creative reviews on the tube🤘💪🖖.

Hello fellow knife brothers, I just wanted to say hi and give my opinion on some knife steels, I hear you talk about 3v and cru-wear and a few other steels calling them super steels. I say it depends on the heat treatment of the steel as to what makes it a super steel. There are a few knife makers here in the U.S. that excell in knife making, Bob Dozier uses D2 and his knives perform among the best in the world, same for Ed Fowler, his choice is 52100 and his knives have become legendary among the knife community, the edge retention of his blades is simply amazing, over 500 cuts on a 1 inch rope, over 56 animals skinned out, including 9 alligators without having to be sharpened. What I'm saying is that there are some awesome knives out there made from simple steels that are truly high performance knives due to the heat treatment given to them. I know you only deal with factory knives but if you were to check out these custom makers, just the 2 I mentioned, you would put their knives at the very top of your collection
