This is not how a 16 year old girl should ever have to survive. I understand this is some people’s reality, but if you have a choice, this should never be someone’s first choice….. horrible advice and I hope Dave can revisit this one

They were too busy competing for “talk time” and totally missed the mark.
Dave, this isn't trolling! This is your viewers concerned about the welfare of a vulnerable girl who your hosts just advised to leave unsupervised for indefinite periods of time.

With a pickup you have a truck and a car. I may not haul stuff everyday on it, but when I have to, it comes in handy. When I move out of my apartment, I will move everything with 2 or 3 trips, instead of having to pay a moving company tons of money.

Very bad advice. Please don't leave a 16 yr old at home by herself for long stretches unless u want to also pay for a grandchild. Also, don't say you don't care about pets. That's such an ignorant thing to say. Pets are a commitment & responsibility. They do not deserve to be neglected ir thrown away because you made mistakes. Take responsibility for them just like you would yr child.
You rehome pets that you can’t afford you don’t get evicted or repoed with a pet in the house who is well fed. Yes you feed them until the very second that you can find them a new owner
Can't believe they actually wanted him to leave an underage teen at home alone. I'd NEVER! Also agree on the pets. The daughter should be helping with their care whether he's there or not, so pets shouldn't be a problem until she leaves the home. Why can't he pick up other work locally? They really didn't talk about the most important stuff like how much equity is in the home, how he gets the ex off of house. Sounds to me like a re-fi is coming and I bet his credit sucks now. He may have to sell and downsize. This is what the call should have been about.
So why notsell the home. Pay off the mortgage and the truck...live in an apartment and start all over again?
Don't assume that the 16 year old is irresponsible.
@@neeferpdHow many hours a day us she going to be home alone? You can't have someone with her at all times. That's not realistic.
This might be the worst advice I’ve seen these 2 ever give. They are recommending he goes back to his on the road job and leave the 16 year old girl at home alone with the pets for days and days at a time? Imagine a 16 year old girl in 10th grade getting their breakfast by themself. Then getting ready for school and going in by herself. Coming home to an empty home with some pets and getting dinner for herself. Oh and she doesn’t have a job so hopefully there is already groceries at home…. Then put herself to bed. This is not how a 16 year old girl should ever have to survive. I understand this is some people’s reality, but if you have a choice, this should never be someone’s first choice….. horrible advice and I hope Dave can revisit this one
Agreed. She's already lived through her parent's split. Dad wasn't around when she was growing up. Now he's about to put her second, again.
Sounds an awful lot like my high school experience. I even had a job and had to get rides to and from when my mom couldn’t.
Millions of GenX kids lived this exact scenario and survived…at much younger ages. In the 1940s, my grandmother was married with 2 children at 16. Sixteen-year-olds fought in the Civil War. Depends on the personality of the daughter.
@@SummaGirl1347 this is one of those scenarios where you are trying to justify something because it’s happened to a bunch of other people. I understand it happens, but if you can prevent it why wouldn’t you? To say that because others have gone through it and did fine this person can do the same is a shitty opinion. You either don’t have kids or your relationship with your kids is not a strong as you may think it is if this is your thought process. I’m not saying it cant work - I’m saying why would this be the option if there is a possibility to get through it without this happening?

Maybe the old George developed early onset dementia to create this new absurd George.
I have watched several shows on this where a family is in deep financial trouble while the mom is a SAHM. They do not tell the family that she needs to get a job. Here they are telling a now single father to leave is 17 year old at home to go back out on the road as an over the road truck driver. You need to be more consistent.
They need to do a segment where listeners vote who they call back to give better advice. This dude and the one who’s mortgage was insane but told selling house was last, should be first people to get a call back and Dave talk to them.

Giving her money as an adult is NO REPLACEMENT for leaving her to live alone as a MINOR. She will always remember him as the dad who never cared enough to stay around.
He can drag out his debt for another year while spending time with her. That’s a sacrifice she’ll come to appreciate the rest of her life, and will teach her that she’s lovable and worth more than some extra cash.

Honestly I feel there’s a bit of competition between George and Jade that keeps them from truly listening to the caller. When he answered that he’s got a “kiddo” at the house and a pet, I knew instantly that he depended on the girlfriend to manage the household. They were too busy competing for “talk time” and totally missed the mark.

Dave, this isn't trolling! This is your viewers concerned about the welfare of a vulnerable girl who your hosts just advised to leave unsupervised for indefinite periods of time.
Geez, George and Jade are gonna have to not be left alone to host a show if they keep going with this bad advice. They didn't pay attention, not realizing the kid is 16, and based their advice on all that, which was just not wise.
I normally love Jade and George's advice, but they dropped the ball on this one.

Yeah they did not listen very well to the caller...
Sometimes the hosts just love to hear themselves talk! The wait to talk, not really listening
Dave needs to react to this advice, cuz I don't think this is the best for them. 😅 so many options are being thrown out without considering his situation.
As has become the norm with the host other than Dave, they are giving bad advice. The child will be 18 in a year and a half, they do not need to be at home unsupervised at the current age of 16! Evidently the woman just left and was not interested in taking the child with her. I hardly watch the show anymore because it’s not what it once was. By the by, I hope Jade’s husband or kids don’t become an inconvenience for her, she obviously has no issues discarding living things once they no longer wanted.
Dave would have just said "Get a job where you make 3 bajillion dollars and can be home by 2 PM every day. Ding ding. Problem solved."

I know this is a financial show, but this is poor advice for the larger picture of his life. He just went through a divorce and his life's in a tailspin. He absolutely SHOULD take some time with his daughter and his animals to heal and regaining his footing rather than burying his feelings and rushing back onto the open road. Cutting expenses is the way to go here, not making more money -- at least not at the personal expense of time, travel, and stress. If he can find a better paying job that doesn't do that, great. But otherwise, let's figure out ways to get his expenses down and keep him around his loved ones during this season of his life.
Thank you, this is what they should have said. He needs time to heal from all this turmoil.
At 16, she is still in need of an active dad so no, he should not be off for days at a time. Maybe working a second job and some overtime would be a better solution.
Broke people made Ramsey a billionaire. The answer is always to make more money to pay off your debt

Did they totally miss the fact he no longer has a partner who was watching the kid / pet?
His daughter is 16 for goodness sake
George, I think telling everyone to double their income every call is a little disingenuous. Why not triple, or quadruple?
His situation can be cleared up in about 1-2 years with his current pay and can be there for his daughter before she takes next steps. He was also going about selling the truck all wrong, he’s going to have to take some loss there.
I don’t see that his mortgage is half his take home.
Because he used to make almost double his current income.
how to be a sucker in america: think you need to have a pickup truck cause everyone else does
With a pickup you have a truck and a car. I may not haul stuff everyday on it, but when I have to, it comes in handy. When I move out of my apartment, I will move everything with 2 or 3 trips, instead of having to pay a moving company tons of money.
People.. a 16 year alone is not a financialdeal breaker. She has a mother who should get involved in watching her daughter. Her dad can also arrange for someone to look in on her.. its dueable.
Not if the mother is a loser
Do they even listen to the callers? He clearly said he had to get a local job because of the breakup. Then Jade asks what changed to make you get a local job and come off the road?
More classic George advice. Does George have blackmail on Ramsey? Is that why they keep him? Is George secretly Ramsey’s child he had with the maid?
