When you get used to malenias waterfowl dance she becames basic dash boss with lifesteal and rot and don't even say second phase is hard she gives you free hits with that bloom move don't get distracted with rotussy and deal with her.
Personally I'd say Malenia is not as difficult as Orphan of Kos in terms of moveset (at least for her first phase), but what sways things in her favor is that she recovers HP on every hit she lands, while Orphan is set up specifically to give players a reward for getting better at the fight, specifically recovering Bullets and HP on a successful Visceral Attack (which only gets multiplied if you're using Blood Rapture and Oedon Writhe). However, her second phase is where she definitely takes the crown for being stronger than Orphan (and by extension, every other From Software boss), because there are some scenarios which almost guarantee a loss if you A) don't know what's about to happen, or B) know exactly what's about to happen, but don't know a reliable method to avoid it. But man, I just love fighting Malenia. I can reliably take her out in the first phase without taking any damage, but her second phase still has a few moves that can overwhelm me. I deliberately don't kill her on every run I make in my main file just because I don't feel like I truly mastered her yet, and I don't want to stop improving.
Word to my fellow strength bros, waterfowl dance is MUCH more manageable when you combine blocking and dodging, especially if you're rocking a colossal weapon 💪💪💪
The first time i went up against her i beat her on 7th try. Ng+1 took me fucking 11 hours (2x2hour break time) cause im doing a no spirit ashes run. Everything else have been a walk in the park. Im not even mad.
I beat malenia in (probably) 200 try’s my first go through then 5 times my second play through, both with cross nagikata only and no summons, I want to play sekiro to say I beat demon of hatred and ishhin, are they harder then her?
It depends. Elden Ring is hard, but can be broken the easiest. If you know what you're doing, it can be quite easy, especially considering its open world and you can get powerful before fighting any big bosses. For me, I consider Sekiro the hardest, especially if your a big souls player, as you kinda have to forget and relearn a lot of mechanics. Also, I feel that a few Elden Ring bosses are only hard because of a few broken attacks (ie: Malenia and her waterfoul dance and clone rush attacks) meanwhile with Sekiro they were difficult due to actually being mechanically challenging
I mean malenia isnt hard just for waterfall, id argue most er bosses are more mechanically complex and challenging than sekiro bosses, since you have the stamina management coupled with normal dodges, jump dodges, dodges to certain directions to avoid damage, dodging by running away, manipulating boss attacks( stuff like maliketh doing certain attacks depending if you dodge away from him or to him), theres just a lot more to it while sekiro is a lot more streamlined asking you to do less things but more precisely.
Eh... waterfoul can be dealt with by properly dodging it. Like that video does. It's entirely consistent if you pick it up. And I beat her without really learning it. I don't see how it's 'broken'.
I dunno if i would call Sekiro the hardest, but it's definetively the fairest - to the player, but also to the bosses. Both sides have a rather minimal amount of Ridiculous Unfair Bullshit. (There is still some, like firecracker or Mortal Draw spam, but it's more the exception than anything). Elden Ring meanwhile, it's the total opposite, both the player and the bosses have boatloads of Ridiculous Unfair Bullshit - how difficult the game is amounts to how willing you are to use it.
@@Broken-bj8ly "Elden Ring meanwhile, it's the total opposite, both the player and the bosses have boatloads of Ridiculous Unfair Bullshit - how difficult the game is amounts to how willing you are to use it." Basically perfectly describes Elden Ring's balance. If you don't embrace the potential power creep with all of the games mechanics, you will end up STRUGGLING in the latter half of the game. Embrace it? And you could end up with a very easy game.
Malenias waterfoul attack isnt bullshit, its old school secret boss super attack, its powerfull and you must always be aware of it, but its consistent and can be dealt with. Personally i used a shield to tank the first hit then i dodged the rest, i didnt have to look online for it.
I find this interesting. I think friede/orphan/malenia compete for hardest. But for different reasons. Friede feels almost uniquely fast for a humanoid boss in ds3 and it starts to feel like a marathon of evasion. Screw up too many times you probably wont even see phase 3. Simple enough. Kos is by far the hardest in my opinion. But thats only because kos is better prepared to deal with the tools your hunter can acquire. His moveset actually has an answer to every weapon and ability. Given his pace and the consistency of battle results i just cant give the ribbon to anyone else. Melania is a pushover. But only if you have beaten her. I think shes the hardest to learn. She has a uniquely powerful ability to skyrocket your blood pressure with the heal on hits, the over the top edgelord walks, and the pass/fail mechanic in waterfowl. But once you realize the heal on hit is compensating for a mostly passive attitude, and either summon or figure out waterfowl, it might as well just be another gimmick boss. Amazing for anyone that wants a good katana vs katana fight though. Get some practice with katana guard counters and your own passive heal and youve got an infinite katana fight.
They could have taken out Water Foul and I genuinely think she’d be my favorite souls boss. But the way it forces you to play a very specific play style to even avoid Water Foul easily puts this fight at a B for me
I’ve nigh mastered Malenia’s moveset, all EXCEPT the Waterfowl Dance. If I’m already far enough, I can dodge it no problem. But if she uses it pointblank, it’s nearly a guaranteed death. And even if you don’t die, it’ll cost you 2~3 flasks just to recover it all. I know it’s possible to dodge it pointblank, but it’s very hard. And obviously, you can mitigate the move by using Bloodhound step, but I don’t use that sort of thing. It’s such a bs move that just kills off the entire run if you’re in the wrong position at the wrong time due to its RNG. I don’t know who let bro cook with that move in FS.
I’m pretty sure I died more times to that crystal mf from Darksouls 3 than I died to Malenia. It took me 6 tries to get the achievement for killing Malenia.
After playing dark souls and blood borne I would say Elden Ring bosses are harder but the player character we have in Elden ring is way more powerful than in the other games
elden ring is also probably one of the hardest game released by fromsoftware if by the fact that you don't use a single summon the entire game, and you play like your very first playthrough, like in dark souls and bloodborne the hardest thing to fight is not the bosses but rather the level which you are thrown into hordes of enemies just running at you at once, which this challenge is also present in elden ring, the bosses aren,t that hard tbh, if i remember correctly the most attempts i beat a boss in those games were like below 15 attempts, compared to elden ring which many bosses took me more than 15 attempts, bosses like margit, morgott, mohg, malenia, godskin duo, gargoyle duo, and radagon
Isshin the Glock saint is by far the toughest fight in any fromsoft game that doesnt have mechs, malenia is plenty fair, it just checks players who dont have a proper build
I still think it’s Maliketh tbh, Malenia at least respects the rules of staggering (most of the time) unlike majority of bosses, Maliketh doesn’t, and with his speed it looks like he’s from Devil may Cry or Kingdom Hearts, rather than Souls, some attacks, unless you have the rather obscure beast claw tool, are impossible to dodge, due to both speed and range, oh and he hurts a lot
Problem with ER is that it has the most op weapons + summon. With right preparation every boss is easy. Unlike the old titles where overleveling is the key to easy boss run (At least for the most part), in ER you just need weapons. For me Sekiro is the most balanced, and Bloodborne dlc is hardest especially on NG+ runs.
Elden ring is only hard if you use a low level build and don't use summons. Sekiro is the hardest fromsoftware game by far and I would say the bloodbourne dlc.
@@OneStrangeDeer ok, if this satisfied you, that's fine. Not going to be toxic elitist. But generally bleed builds aren't that super OP if you play solo, basically solid strength builds are much better against Malenia, if you learn her moveset and openings.

I did it with 26 vigour before doing forge of the giants. Now I know why it took my 40 hours and over 1000 deaths
Word to my fellow strength bros, waterfowl dance is MUCH more manageable when you combine blocking and dodging, especially if you're rocking a colossal weapon 💪💪💪
I love how he changes outfits every clip during exploration😂
my fav way to deal with waterfowl = roll first flurry into block into roll x2
The first time i went up against her i beat her on 7th try.
Ng+1 took me fucking 11 hours (2x2hour break time) cause im doing a no spirit ashes run.
Everything else have been a walk in the park.
Im not even mad.
If you want to beat Malenia without honor then use mohg spear and +10 red mane knight ohga spirit ash.
L take in the title cappatron but I am still in love with you
I beat malenia in (probably) 200 try’s my first go through then 5 times my second play through, both with cross nagikata only and no summons, I want to play sekiro to say I beat demon of hatred and ishhin, are they harder then her?
Yes
No
sword saint isshin is perhaps just as hard or a little easier and demon of hatred is definitely easier
19:55 *me waiting for morgott to stop doing backflips*
I don't think anybody was debating this.
This is the 4th time to watch your videos. You are legendary funny
"As soon as i can hit you, you're done" Every Strength Build when fighting 2nd Phase Maliketh
Nice One man I love it Waiting For New DLC :D
Bro is NOT zanny with them thumbnails 🗣️🗣️🙅♂️🙅♂️🙅♂️
I'm.confused, I really don't think Elden Ring is harder than Sekiro or Bloodborne, even Lies of P is way harder....
Elden Ring was the easiest. Leveling to be OP was too easy, and spirit ashes can basically beat the game for u
It's not even in the running for the hardest. The hardest boss is malenia and I beat her in the second try.
They could have taken out Water Foul and I genuinely think she’d be my favorite souls boss. But the way it forces you to play a very specific play style to even avoid Water Foul easily puts this fight at a B for me
17:10
Even the gods themselves have to warm up it seems
How do people not know of the blasphemous blade when fighting her. She is a cheese right after u get hands on that weapon.
Bro struggled against the easiest end game boss (Godfrey) more than one of the most erratic.
The easiest end game boss is placidusax in my opinion
@@lordofcinder8884 oh he smoked me, the way he was so stationary threw me off.
yo, Cappa, where have you been ma boi? it's been 2 months since the last Souls upload ;(
i think i wiped melania naked with a freeze dagger and bandit curved sword with bloody slash at around level 112
Me never playing a single souls game except for ER I would say the hardest boss would be Malenia followed by the crucible knight
After playing dark souls and blood borne I would say Elden Ring bosses are harder but the player character we have in Elden ring is way more powerful than in the other games
My build is entierly built around hard hiting slashes from my dark greatmoon sword and I have 0 vigor melania is going to be pain
elden ring is also probably one of the hardest game released by fromsoftware if by the fact that you don't use a single summon the entire game, and you play like your very first playthrough, like in dark souls and bloodborne the hardest thing to fight is not the bosses but rather the level which you are thrown into hordes of enemies just running at you at once, which this challenge is also present in elden ring, the bosses aren,t that hard tbh, if i remember correctly the most attempts i beat a boss in those games were like below 15 attempts, compared to elden ring which many bosses took me more than 15 attempts, bosses like margit, morgott, mohg, malenia, godskin duo, gargoyle duo, and radagon
most fun elden ring video i've watch
"I'm giving you all of your health back. can you let me get mine ?" 😂😂
Isshin the Glock saint is by far the toughest fight in any fromsoft game that doesnt have mechs, malenia is plenty fair, it just checks players who dont have a proper build
I just blasphemous bladed and mimic teared everything. Easy. Before that, mooveil and blacknife t summon.
Only hard if you make it hard mate.
You cheated yourself, congratulations.
I believe Guardian Ape on first playthrough takes the #1 spot, but Malenia is the most constantly difficult.
You can cheese kindred by ball hugging him and dodging like crazy
Problem with ER is that it has the most op weapons + summon. With right preparation every boss is easy. Unlike the old titles where overleveling is the key to easy boss run (At least for the most part), in ER you just need weapons.
For me Sekiro is the most balanced, and Bloodborne dlc is hardest especially on NG+ runs.
ur a hidden gem of a youtuber
Legit laughed out loud at the 19:40 squeak, like it’s the first time I’ve heard it 😂
Guy went through all the satges of grief 😅
10:47 lmaooo I wheezed, legit my face the first time that happened
I beat her in the first 10 attempts modded weapons are cool when it’s a scythe that has teleport rolls and staggers and bleeds
Frost pots just on top agienst melania u just throw a single pot at her when she jumps up and it cancels the waterflow dance xD
Sekiro laugning (and crying) in the corner that even some of the mini bosses are harder than any eldin ring boss
No not really but you know 😂
bros finally posting at a normal rate 😭😭
Elden ring is only hard if you use a low level build and don't use summons. Sekiro is the hardest fromsoftware game by far and I would say the bloodbourne dlc.
I got so tired of melania...so i switched to the blood spear. There is a vid on my channel of me mopping the floor with her using it.
But it is not you bro, it's your Mimic Tear...
@@suchar7175 mimic was used to tank while i deal damage. Plain and simple. Fyi this was after all the major nerfs to the mimic.
@@OneStrangeDeer ok, if this satisfied you, that's fine. Not going to be toxic elitist.
But generally bleed builds aren't that super OP if you play solo, basically solid strength builds are much better against Malenia, if you learn her moveset and openings.
@@suchar7175 i know they are. Ive played them. First time i beat her was with a strength build. But different play styles and build are allowed, so i decided to try something else out.
Elden ring isnt my first rodeo, ive got bloodborne, ds1 and ds3 under my belt. Beat them all multiple times over. And just like elden ring, strength is good in all of them.
Is it just me that thinks of malenia as a geometry dash level where you have to force yourself to fail to get just a little bit further everytime
