I'll leave this little tip here to help you out and make the suffering a little more bearable. Level up your ADP (Adaptability) stat to between 90 and 95. It helps a ton with the BS the game throws at you since it speeds up the animation for the Estus Flask and Lifegem consumptipn but it also helps with the i frames. If you want the i frames to be similar to those in DS1, then aim for those recommended ADP levels I mentioned. Thankfully, you can get this fast due to how many bosses and souls you get. Good luck!
@@cryo2934 He’s not talking about the level stat I think. There is a separate character stat like poise related to agility but I agree on the 20 levels on adp.
As someone who's favorite of the three dark souls games is 2(I love experimental changed and mechanics, which DS2 is obviously full of such as Adp, Catalysts calculating spell power using actual elemental damage instead of sb/ma/sa/ss/is, replacing motion values with counter strength, powerstancing, having poise and hyperarmor, new weapon categories that didn't come back until Elden Ring like Twinblades and Lances, NPC graves and SO MUCH MORE), I gotta say this a certified dark souls 2 moment(but for real if ever you need tips/help/explanations myself and I'm sure many others would be willing to help you acclimate)

Watching this video reminds me how much I loathed every second of this game. Only completing it because a friend kept saying "it gets better... it will become your favorite souls game". Then, I reached the ending, did all the dlc. The last few hours, I was begging the game to end, only to learn about another dlc everytime. Years later, somehow its like my brain wants me to forget I did it, only remembering the pain when I stumble on videos like yours. Fans of the game enjoy it for reasons that left me indifferent or simply didn't enjoy. Anyways, let's hope you enjoy it more than I did, for your sanity...
Dropped a like for the suffering. haha, Tip that isn't a spoiler: You have a stat called ADP, the more you level it up the less you get hit when you roll. Good luck and don't go hollow.
The rapier is easily the best weapon in the entire game for pve, you need to level up your adaptability and start two handing that weapon, or buy another one and dual wield them, it has insane dps and short animations that make dodging more easy. I'm more a greatsword guy, but if you look at no glitch speedruns they all use this weapon. Ah and dodge rolling instead of turtling behind the shield is just more fun in this game imo. Make shure to level up adp until you reach at least 105 on agility and you will not need a shield ever again
BRO YES I LOVE THIS. Can’t wait to see the rest of the playthrough bro, and maybe someday you’ll come across the want to try out the Scholar of the First Sin edition, alternate enemy and item placement and most people generally think it’s a lot harder than vanilla. Obscure Tip, what happened to you at 3:20. When you spend ALL your stamina, it becomes unusable until it fills back up COMPLETELY. Game doesn't tell you this, and the HUD really should have done something to visually communicate that it what happening, like having the bar fill in a different color or something. It's like the ADP/Agility stat. These mechanic /are/ working, but they /feel/ like the game is broken due to poor messaging to the player.
Glad to see you're playing Dark Souls II vanilla honestly, it's better than Scholar due to not relying on constant ganks to simulate "difficulty" I never replay Dark Souls I because I just don't really vibe with it, idk why either because I don't dislike it. Dark Souls II however I've already played through twice (again, Vanilla. My first time trying it was Scholar of the First Sin and I dropped the game real quick as I really did not like it) and likely will play through it a third time. I think DSII has its issues (hitboxes for one, ADP for second) but it also has so many quality of life changes that are just "missed" in Dark Souls I if you go back to that game imo. Definitely earned a sub, wanna see more :)
This channel feels like one of those hidden gems with not too many subs, but I think it's gonna blow up soon thanks to these dark souls videos

I've not yet beaten the game but I'm pretty close to the end. Fighting Sir Alonne now.
Good luck on the rest of your playthrough man.
When the algorithim feeds me the good shit. Finally some good fuckin, food.
I love your stuff, I hope as this channel grows you’ll be able to make longer videos. (Personal preference) you keep doing you dude, you got a new sub. I dig it 🤘
Keep it up broz, when I noticed u have only 4k subs I had to give u one.
LOL when people experience the lock on Swing (that still responds to directional responses) and then get confused why they miss. Chefs kiss experience. Level ADP a little, and Bellclaire is a girl.
You gotta do Dark Souls 3 next. And then hopefully Bloodborne. Great videos man.
I watched, I enjoyed, I liked, subbed, and here's my comment. Enjoy DS2. I always appreciated how peaceful Majula was. ✌️
Level up adaptability
good luck man, light work for a guy like you
i fw this channel - u gonna blow up
Watching this video reminds me how much I loathed every second of this game.
Anyways, let's hope you enjoy it more than I did, for your sanity...
nice content dude! Keep in that way!
I had an absolute blast in frigid outskirts
You started the game with the covenant of champions. It makes the game header.
Make shure to level up adp until you reach at least 105 on agility and you will not need a shield ever again
finally i see someone play dark souls 2 instead of scholar of the first sin, i gotta see more of this
BRO YES I LOVE THIS. Can’t wait to see the rest of the playthrough bro, and maybe someday you’ll come across the want to try out the Scholar of the First Sin edition, alternate enemy and item placement and most people generally think it’s a lot harder than vanilla. Either way keep up the good work man
0:05 bro skipped Bed Of Chaos and whole end game zones.
Hating ds2 is overrated. Game is fine if you understand how to play it, i replayed ds2 many times and i can still do it.
I was disappointed in two when it came out but for some reason scholar was really good for me?
Obscure Tip, what happened to you at 3:20. When you spend ALL your stamina, it becomes unusable until it fills back up COMPLETELY.
Game doesn't tell you this, and the HUD really should have done something to visually communicate that it what happening, like having the bar fill in a different color or something.
It's like the ADP/Agility stat. These mechanic /are/ working, but they /feel/ like the game is broken due to poor messaging to the player.
It's a kitty!!! 😂🤣 exactly what I said when I rolled into that house 🤣😂🤣
Glad to see you're playing Dark Souls II vanilla honestly, it's better than Scholar due to not relying on constant ganks to simulate "difficulty"
I never replay Dark Souls I because I just don't really vibe with it, idk why either because I don't dislike it.
Really enjoyed your video. All the memories of my first playthrough came rushing back. Good luck beating the rest of the game.
Literally watching in real time the start of a channels growth these dark souls videos have been wonderful
