Man, you nailed it. I'm Egyptian and I don't believe I have seen this original content anywhere else..everyone goes to same main restaurants but no one went as REAL as this.
And without a producer... You should have done all the tour by your own man.

@@smallspace7 Pretty sure his "producer" was informing on him to the police given how frequently they materialized out of thin air when he was around. That or he was calling the cops on Sonny just to make it look like his services were needed. Maybe splitting bribe money with the police? Maybe a little from each column?

    Let me help 😀
1:47 this is Koskosy not rice, it’s an Egyptian specially-hand-prepared flour, that you can mix with either, sugar or the broth you tried before.
3:00 this is Feter Meshaltet, one of the most famous pastries in Egypt, you can eat it in many ways (Savoury or sweet or even plain) , depends on the ingredients.
6:18 this way of cooking is called Singary, it’s famous in Egypt, specifically Alexandria
8:11 This is Quail, you can eat it stuffed with rice or Cooked inside the rice (Tagine Seman).
8:59 another version of Feter, with a western hit.
The guy is saying “Khalas” which means “it’s fine keep the money” as gesture of generosity or kindness, it’s a say that people use in Egypt, but it didn’t really mean that he want to give you the food for free 😀😀 even though, he’d probably won’t take any, if you said you don’t have enough money.
10:58 Egyptian Shawarma (the best ever) in a Syrian bread.
I really miss Egyptian food, especially home cooking 🙌🏽 😅

or film director, and therefore they ask you for a permit It is not correct to advise people not to go to Egypt because of an individual situation or a misunderstanding

I know I am kind of stating the obvious since this is an additional channel, but you need one of these for every place you visit. Forget the local producer, leave the cameras, lights and big gimbals at the hotel and just wander. This made for a fantastic episode. Huge props to the camera ops and editors. Working with (especially color grading) iPhone footage can be cumbersome at best and all of you really knocked it out of the park with limited resources. Awesome job!

😂😂😂 the pizza guy was saying "khalas" or "you can keep your money" which is basically an act of curtsey known in Egypt, and you respond with something like "shokran" or "Allah yebareklak" which means "God bless you". Then insist on paying 😂😂
Edit: since a lot of people are misunderstanding because either they hate Egyptians or just don't get it because it might seem to anyone like a twisted play and a waste of time: this is a "protocol" that some people still like to work with. It largely used to work in Egypt decades ago, and it still works in smaller communities, where families know each other; in the city however it remains as gesture that no one plays by. Rule of thumb: you won't actually be allowed to keep your money unless the vendor knows you in person, and knows that you are in a financial crisis.

I am not sure if anyone mentioned it yet, but the whole "tahini is like some kind of hummus" thing... Hummus is mushed chickpeas (or other legumes) WITH tahini. The reason hummus tastes like hummus is primarily due to the tahini. Saying tahini tastes like humus is as if you'd say coffee tastes like latte... ;)

It has to be seasoned, bro, you can't use it straight from the jar. Add salt, cumin, white vinegar, half a lemon, one clove of garlic and some water.
Start with the vinegar and stir well until it kinda clumps up and dries a bit, then add the rest of the seasoning and add water until it reaches the preferred consistency.

The Egyptian local civilians seem just as one would expect, very friendly & outgoing.
    🇪🇬🙂
It's usually the government of any country that gives a bad impression of their people. I was in Tanzania last month and on the first week, the police stopped my local wife and I for going to the beach after sunset.🌅
They only demanded like $20 to avoid the police station, but it was blatant corruption and even my Tanzanian wife who was a law student pointed that out.
There were no signs on the beach or anything. They could have just asked us to leave and we would obey. But I get it, people gotta make a living, it's a racket. But the local civilian Tanzanians were so nice and although they weren't rich, were able to produce many products & services that were worth purchasing in the marketplace.
I think it takes a certain personality type to pursue positions of power. And some of those personality types are not benign.

I am Egyptian and here's a clear description of the food
1:10 "Koskosy" it's white wheat after some process it looks like that, and we eat it like a dessert with sugar powder. Also usually we don't eat it as a breakfast meal.
2:25 "Aesh" it's bread, we have also different types of bread, but this one is the most common and popular in Egypt.
2:50 "Feteer Meshaltet" it's a kind of Egyptian pie/pastry with a lot of ghee and layers. Also usually we eat it with salted chees "Mish" and honey or molasses. We eat it for breakfast but it's a more common breakfast in the countryside.
5:12 "Taameeya" and in coastal cities like Alexandria we say "Falafel". It's one of the most common breakfast meals, also with many other foods in this type of restaurant, like beans "Ful"
6:15 "Samak Sengary" samak=Fish, Sengary refers to the way of cooking as shown in the video. Also, this type of cooking is usually used with "Bory" Mullet fish. Note: usually we eat it with rice or the bread which we referred to it in 2:25 .
    8:10 "Semman" it's Quail.
8:25 "Feteer Sharqy" it's the same as in 2:50 but with less ghee and layers. But Stuffed with basic ingredients (Tomato-Pepper-Olive-uncooked omelet eggs) and if you wish you can add any type of meat/chicken/cold cuts or whatever you want.
9:58 "Shawerma Soory" it's a Syrian restaurant, and this sandwich is beef but in the Syrian way, and this bread we call "Aeesh Soory"= Syrian Bread. We have also "Shawerma" in the Egyptian way in some other restaurants.

how You come with a big team and a lot of cameras without a permit? Want the government to consider you just a regular tourist? Naturally, they consider you a journalist
or film director, and therefore they ask you for a permit It is not correct to advise people not to go to Egypt because of an individual situation or a misunderstanding
from you and a lack of respect for the laws of the countries you are going to--Many people take films in Egypt without problems, but they bring one camera

As an Egyptian I am very pleased with this , and I apologize for the inconvenience you and your team had suffered in Egypt .
But that's not us , just some stupid red tape officials who don't understand hospitality .
Ps. The first food you had is called "kos-kos" it is served in Egypt as a dessert , but it is originally from Morocco

Nothing against BEFRS because it's a great channel but this video I think highlights how good some of the solo TH-cam travellers are who don't have a team or on the ground helpers to sort everything for them - it must be ridiculously hard to make some of those videos completely solo

It's not horrible as you might think.
I was at the Egyptian museum and at the pyramids last month and everything seemed to be ok with all the foreigners. I was over there with my German friend.
The police is just paranoid about shooting...etc and they don't target foreigners specifically ,Egyptians as well.

Did not seem to help his or his production with anyone with any kind of power(not knowing what it is, just assuming it was bad), or without power when villages would shake production down, so they could leave.
