the biggest issue I have with it though, is the fact that it doesn't have any LSDs as a "rally heritage" car... but I agree its definitely slept on. msrp vs msrp the GRC would be my choice, but used the wrx is roughly 15k cheaper for the same year out here in LA....which also is a bit alarming since it clearly isn't going to hold any value, but if driven into the ground it's an awesome value with a proven motor(not so much the brz fa24 though). edit: also the e-brake on the GRC is a rear disconnect... imo its very obvious subaru has forgotten what a rally car is with the wrx, only saving grace being the fa24 really, although it's paired with a transmission that can't handle any torque. If you spent the money to sti swap the trans and added lsds to front and rear, the wrx is actually very expensive vs the grc if you plan on doing some dirt driving.
but that's the problem, vb owners buy it and do mods and tune for more HP for drag racing, but there are other cars for the same price that drag race WAY better than the vb, like the Mustang GT that's the same price but has 440hp stock and small tune is over 500hp. people use to like buying Subarus because they handled amazing for track and rally since they had STI option that has front limited-slip diff, center DCCD diff, rear limited-slip diff. The new vb only uses Forester and Crosstrek SUV front open diff and rear open diff, that explains why vb owners only care about and drag racing.
@@sleepyloyalfps has what they call an "e-lsd" which just means it uses the brakes to try and stop slip. Aka, if you're off-road, you'll just fry your brakes. Sure, it tries to do the same thing as an mechanical lsd, but it's like arguing than an rear lsd in a truck is the same as having lockers

I love my VB....Traded my 2017 STI at 90,000 miles for it when the headgasket was just starting to go. It's such a great daily driver. I'm always happy to get in and go for a drive. Love the interior. I put some paint matched fenders on, wheels, paint matched grill, etc. Great car.
My GR Corolla didn't catch on fire but the motor did throw a rod. After a new motor replacement i traded it in on a new Honda Type R. I like the Type R but i do miss the little GR.
it's because Subaru discontinued the good handling version called STI that has front LSD, center DCCD, rear LSD that would match well with GR Corolla. Not the new VB that uses Forester and Crosstrek SUV drivetrain of front open diff and rear open diff with brakepad torque vectoring.
Looking forward to the series. Own a VB and it's absolutely great. I live in Tucson and some roads are garbage but the ride in the Subie helps. If the ride is stiffer in the GR, it wouldn't be as pleasant as a daily. That said, given the significant price gap, one would hope the Corolla is better. For me, better meant what I can afford and actually find in showrooms, not wait for months and a more spacious backseat. Thank you gents for the content.
Long time viewer here Cam. Your focus ST videos actually led me to buy one! I couldn’t agree more about your take on the GR Corolla. People are so worried about it catching on fire. Yes it has its flaws. It’s not perfect. Still a great car. That being said. I was in the market for a GR Corolla and ended up buying a 24 limited WRX last night. So this video was sweet to watch after purchasing. GRC is cool but I’m in love with the WRX. I still have my BRZ if I want to be hotboy/boy racer. WRX feels like the perfect daily.
For the future, don’t use a polish that has wax in it if you’re ceramic coating afterwards. It will definitely affect the way the coating binds to the paint, you want to paint to be stripped of any protection before coating.
Cant wait for this series. I've had my grc for over a year and a half and am still enjoying it. It took a while to like, but well worth it. FBO tuned, tracked regularly, and it does everything well. Closing in on 50k miles too.

That was the car that got away on the channel imo. Excited to see where these two cars go however
The G16e won top ten engine designs against mostly hybrids. The GRC isn’t super comfortable, its sound system is shit, it’s stiff on rough roads.
