Yes, but it’s recommended to at least do the big 3 and if possible get a agm battery and you should be good on a 2k amp anything over 2k you’ll have to start looking.into alternator upgrades and more battery power. But it’s possible to run on factory electrical just not recommended

I’m a small installer and designer. Some People don’t understand it takes power to make power. Or welcome to clip city 😂 however! I did blow 4 subs in my life so far. The first one was a lightning audio 20y ago, on 2Kw. It sounded really good till it didn’t. I left the system on while I was working outside so I couldn’t smell the sub cooking.
The next most recent incident occurred with all three of the same subs in the same box. Maybe a bad batch or badly built sub.
What happened is the Lower spiders detach from the vc former.
Yeah you’ll have a few bad subs that just slide pass QC. It happens to us all

I use my five senses to tune but more so by smell when it comes to subs. You smell coil your into clipping. LPF is easy to set too using your ears. If you hear vocals in the sub its set too high. Subsonic set a half octave below the Fb and your good to go. Even if you are clipping-turn the shit down out of jam-territory and let your subs and coils cool.
Big facts I got 2 audio pipes txx bdc4 12 in a custom ported box with no upgraded alternator and I don't play my system volume over 20, all because I need a bigger alternator I'm not gone blow my subs lol. O and my amp is ct sounds 2000 rms

You have to know your name is based off of what kind of power you have what kind of subs you have to be able to get the right out for the RMS that you have

Truth! I've seen more subs blown with less than RMS power WHEN THE SIGNAL IS DIRTY! Likewise, I have a pair of Phoenix Gold 12s that I've had for 7 years. I had a clean 1100 watts on them for over 4 years
They are 400 watts RMS subs. They are currently in my daughter's car with 600 watts on them. They still sound great, and that's because I set the amp gain with the o-scope. She knows how far to turn up her Pioneer head unit. I told her not to go past 30, and she never does. Could it be louder? With a stock 80 amp alternator, that answer is a big NO!
As a Professional installer for the last 24 years i can tell you what blows speakers/subwoofers.
1. People buy a $79 woofer and want it to play like (2) $500 woofers.
2. They buy cca wire because some idiot convinced them saving $40 on wiring was "just as good."
3. They still think a gain knob determines how much output the amplifier has, not realizing its to match the output level of their head unit.
4. Thinking that a $79 Taramps is the same quality as a higher end brand, because "power is power."
Theres more obviously, but these are what i deal with everytime someone comes in and has been on a forum of some kind

The box plays 90% role in bass.
I found out that every source unit, external xovers, dsp's, EQ's, to amps need to be tuned with no distortion.
Its true what you say, any sub can be clipped to death in a few minutes. But from experience the difference with a quality subs to the budget stuff is incredibly different. My sundown xv2 18s i clipped them amd smoked them every day. I turned it down when they got hot tho. Then i got zv5s and same thing. Now i 2 rs team 18s on 2 salt8s and i break cones and tore surrounds but yet to burn a coil even outting ton of power to them. There is a big difference in the amount of abuse they can take. And when you figure for what recones cost. Spend an extra 2-300 per sub and when/if they blow break you just recone. Almost the same price as if you got the cheap woofer.
Rs team is a 4in coil, x and z are a 3in coil. Of course the 4in is going to take more heat.
Implying Sundown is budget/low quality is absurd. The only difference in this context is that the RS Team subs have 4" coils. OF COURSE they handle more power.

Brooooo i was just in a full fledged argument with this guy about the same topic about entry level ,every brand has one the name dosen't have alot to do with performance but quality counts ,the problem is user error like a mfa ,for instance one guy dont know absolutely nothing about duel voice coil subs and thought he was running a kumper from one coil+ to the - and fried them mfas soon as power hit them on 600 watt prime Fosgate, he had both coils wired in parallel with the coil playing against each other one side of the sub went up and the other side went down them damn subs was still smoking 10mnz later and ask me could i warr

i have a JP23 V2 pushing 2 15in svr skars D4 running at 1 ohm and i havent had 1 issue with them. i got my box on amazon its tuned to 35hz and thats what it hits the hardest at. i have a sound stream radio that puts out 4v to each of the rca's. im guilty of having my 800 rms skars and pushing upwards of 1500 to each sub lol. i bought the subs before the amp tho, after i got the amp i figured if the svr's blow i will upgrade. i have all skar speaker setup, i have 4 6.5 in each of my doors being pushed by a rockford fosgate punch 200ix. i like my skars and have no complaints.
You can cook a coil from too much clean power too. The longer the coil is out of the gap the hotter it gets.
