Just got an 12 VXF today..... man I picked up the box and almost dropped it lol! These things are so heavy, and yes that cone is super stiff. Im doing test tones in the box, the woofer is barely warm but my amp was hot as hell lol!

Why isn't there a warning sheet or some type of paper discussing the break in process when purchasing a new sub? So I can't just pull out my subs install them and just start playing music loudly? 😂

I have the exact same sub as you coming in the mail right now. I have a 15 kicker comp c svc 4 ohm hooked up to a 1200 peak watt jensen mono d block amp set to 2 ohm I was wondering if I can keep everything set up how it is now when I switch to the skar as it is set up right now for my kicker to break it inive never wired anything but I figured if I can just hook the wires up to the skar the exact same way they are now on my kicker inside the box would that be okay to break it since it is under powered with the jensen amp
I running a single EVL 10" it their prefab box. Using an RP 2000.1D that I got new for $174 (listed as used but i guess they ran out of used it was VERY new). I try to keep it around 1250 - 1500 watts so i don't cook or bottom out the sub. I used my multimeter and ohms law to adjust it out. Using a custom 16 amp hour lithium iron phosphate pack I built myself. 4S2P pack using 8 amp hour red headway cells. 400 amp peak 240 amp continuous rating on the pack. Hey man so I've got a skar vxf 15 d2 running on a t1500 rockford power series....I was hoping it was a good match,someone told me that the speaker can handle more power but I find the dust cap is getting warm after a 30 min of playing...I'm kinda worried the sub is probably 3 weeks old any advice would be nice thanks

I have a question for you kinfolks. what is you're opinion the difference overall between VXF and EVL subs? And I think I owe you an apology because I was doubting the SDR 12's. Which I still have to incorporate my alpine amps and crossover in my temporary build. I'm upgrading to a final build using all Skar Audio and 2x EVL 12's.
The evls are tanks bro they take a beating as long as it's clean. But the vxfs are much bigger and built more towards spl and sq you kinda getting the best of both worlds with the vxfs. I think the evls was designed more towards sq

I would start with at least a 240amp or 250amp alt depending on what size amp your running. But if you have the money gone get a big one that way you’ll have enough juice to power whatever you want just in case you want to upgrade amps later down the line

You should make a mounting plate and play a 40 hz test tone.there is nothing to break in in a subwoofer you lose it up

Honestly I kept the lpf down and the amp was set a little before clipping according to the clipping indicator on the amp

I really don’t use bass boost bro so idk about that. But you should be good either way as long as your not clipping it

@@jacobkline5628don't use bass boost and don't blindly set the gain. Just turn the gain up until it sounds good for the break in period. Then when it's time to crank it. Find a volume on your stereo to where it is 2 notches below distortion. Play a song with loud bass and turn the gain up until the sub nearly jumps out of the box. That's how you adjust gain without special equipment. Every headunit has a different output so setting gain is different for everybody.

If it's a d2 but I'm this case the sub was a d4 so it read a 1.5 or 1.6 so you round that to 2ohm

Breaking in of subwoofers is actually something that just happens on its own. It’s not some thing you need to proactively do. This is an example of a long held myth.

Lmfao about two months ago I blew a powerbass 3xl 15 moving less than that breaking it in with around 500 rms. Worst sub I've ever owned and the 2nd most expensive. Replaced it with the Rockville punisher and that Rockville is and has been taking all a d4s jp23 can give at . 5 ohm too.
Hate powerbass it was my first and last I'm rebuilding it with products from robot underground.
