You want a company like this to do well. Even if you don't buy this car. It helps breed competition. Competition always benefits the consumer. I really like the concept. If they can really bring this car to market, at that price point, it will sell like hotcakes. At least in Texas, 3-wheel vehicles are considered motorcycles. $5 inspection fee, and insurance is maybe $20 month.
I live in Texas I'm a fan of trucks but don't use it that often, But honestly I would buy this as a new daily driver. Just put the shotgun in the back seat.
In Calif. it would be considered a motorcycle so a user would require a M1 class drivers license. Be a bit cautious with Sondors as a prototype version can be much different from the production version as electric bicycle he produced, the production version used cheaper material and equipment than in the prototype. But I do like the way it looks.
Elio addressed the 3 wheeled issue and nobody had a problem with it. Maybe he should have said "pothole" instead of oil? What he's saying is with a wheel in the middle there is no way to straddle an obstacle in the road.
Motorcycle riders know about the issue of oil (dripping from cars) in the center of the travel lane. When it rains for the first time in a while, it's very slick.
Exactly. 3 wheelers have lots of precedent. Can Am Spyder and Campana T-Rex come to mind. Then there's, you know, the 2 wheelers that usually ride in the center of the lane where the "oil" would be... This dude needs to put more consideration into what he's going to say or be replaced with someone with a bit more practical knowledge.
Is it normal in the us for the middle of the roads to be covered with a noticeable amount of oil? Was very surprised about his comments that this car might be affected by your oily roads.
yes. you can see it. mostly on the highways. there are two lines where the tires go and a darker area in the middle. but its not just oil, its also dirt.
Yeah was thinking the same thing. If it isnt a problem for motorcyclists it probably wont be for this vehicle, especially as it only has one of its tires in the middle, compared to a motorcycle with all of them there.
it becomes a problem during rain after a dry spell. all that oil build up gets washed up and becomes very slick. 4 wheel cars have this issue as well, just not as severe.
Finally, someone considered the grease lane with a middle tire. It's a disadvantage in many ways. 3 wheels instead of 4 means you now have 3 tracks to worry about for potholes. You have to plow snow in the middle, you'll have constant snow on your rear tire at times. Mud and dirt roads, forget it the trench is made for 4 wheels.
So far you're one of the few that gets it. I'm laughing at the response from people that don't ride motorcycles that are replying with: Motorcycle don't have a problem with the middle of the road. They have no idea that people on bikes avoid the middle of the road because of the extra debris.
On a 3-wheeler you not only get oil slicks on the roadway, but you give all the potholes.....and speed bumps... Additionally for those in the SNOW STATES the front two wheels are going to track in ruts made by other vehicles, but that rear wheel is going to be tracking on virgin snow...
Richard Landgren Yea we've all seen this before except the creators fail to realize just how difficult it is and how much money it takes to bring a vehicle to market. Probably will end up like elio lacking the funds to do so
Elio wont have enough money to bring it to market. This is not opinion, research their numbers and do the math. I'm not a hater either, i'd actually like one but it wont happen.
Sondors rear wheel will catwalk on uneven road surfaces a bit , not not much worse than a regular 4 wheeler does anyway occasionally , braking would not be hindered by 3 wheels , most of the brake force will be upfront in any case , handsome concept , refinements will probably escalate projected costs and the sticker price
Looks like am electric version of the Elios. By removing the 4th tire it also allows it to be registered as a motorcycle and doesn't have to have the same crash requirements as a true "automobile." That being said, I think the world needs more "cars" like this.
The More We Explore I was always waiting for Elio to transition to electric, but no. Probably the tech costs too much. Elio was all about "off the shelf" parts.
"It also makes it a lot easier to register in the United States." ...unless you live in Virginia, where 3 wheeled motorcycles are not allowed to have enclosed cabins or doors.
The elephant in the room isnt a three-wheel-car. It's a grown man wearing chucks. Also denim jeans and a tucked in button down shirt with a tie. Who dressed you?
I was just thinking the other day, that eventually the center of freeway lanes will gradually become clean as ICE vehicles go their way with the coal trains and whaling industry.
The race is on to see who will get a real production 3 wheel car/cycle into production for the public market, be it Sonono, Elio or Arcimoto or some other company. There are ones out there now like the T-rex and a few high-end custom build companies but they are all way over the $20k mark and a few that are even over $100k. But we still need to see one that is for the common person, and $10k giver or take a couple of thousand is looking like the current target price. Once one of these companies really put it one the road, there will be a flood of them, Japan, India, Brazil, and other countries all already have many versions on the roads and they are very simple, not ment for long haul answers to crowded roads, first/alternitive car or local need only vehicles. Maybe USA will finally get back to the realization that you do not need a Hummer to go 3 blocks to pickup a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread.
Look it up Dale car from 1974. Watch the HBO documentary too, amazing! Luckily, if one day happens, this Sondors will have a better end. The bikes are awesome already though.
the fact its a three wheeler will make it WAY easier to get it green lit in the US because the regulations it has to follow are that of a motorcycle, meaning it doesnt need to go through the same millions of dollars worth of testing that is required of every four wheeled car sold here. i mean hell, lots of people are buying polaris slingshots and they arent at all practical. i think there will be a HUGE market for a car like this once people get their head out of their ass and quit whining about how a three wheel car looks, or the limited range that 95% of people rarely need anyway.
I have a Sondors ebike and I love it but the battery took a shit a few months in. In theory this is a great idea but there are too many question marks about reliability. What happens if Sondors goes bankrupt (a real possibility) you will have a giant paper weight. The Elio which is similar in design but with a gas engine that is going into production.
There have been 3 wheeled Motorcycles on the road for years now... mostly purchased by old HD want-to-be's. Shouldn't have any issues. Nice review, thanks
They say 10k I bet it will be closer to 15k when/if it gets to production but I would pay that for 150+ mile range. It's the best looking 3 wheel car I've ever seen (compared to the Elio and Solo and those ones made in India/China) and it sounds like its going to be pretty quick (for a non Tesla EV).
Well, I love the looks. But I am afraid that it may go the way of the ELIO. I am all in on it for $1100 and argued that it would be produced. But after watching a few videos by people who have looked into the financial aspects of how much money they have raised and how much Paul Elio has paid himself, I am being to think it is a never going to see production. The video states this new electric will be out in April of 2019 and talks about people buying it will be actual investors. Going to have to think this one over...but the car does look great. And probably be a lot quitter then the elio. TIME WILL TELL.
Looking at the extremely low ground clearance at the front of this vehicle and its front overhang I dont think it would survive its first encounter with a speed hump in the UK. It would be trashed.
Most likely the rear swing arm will be shaped like a J... Or a S with gentle bends.. You remove access panel and remove wheel as normal. Of course the SONDORS IIRC is going to be made in CHINA... so who knows !
IRE: "US question: Does having 3 wheels reduce road tax, or is the back wheel considered an 'axel'?" 4 wheels= Car, Truck 3 wheels= classified as a MOTORCYCLE, and/ or Autocycle (Enclosed 3-wheeler) Autocycle classification= meaning *NO HELMET is needed for states that demand helmets to be worn on a motorcycle and road tax is less as weight is around 1,000 lbs, vs average weight of car is 3,000-5,000 lbs . *Most states have, or have pending legislation regarding NO HELMET NEEDED when operating /riding in enclosed AUTOCYCLES...
My main concern is his comment about lowering the seat because he's tall. How tall!! I'm 6'4" and I need to know if this is a deal-breaker. I'm guessing he's 6'3" or 6'4", but hoping he's taller. It kind of looked like eye level for him was the top of the windshield, which would be... awkward.
I am an avid motorcycle and auto fanatic and I commend these startups doing something environmentally friendly and somewhat out of the box but IMO these 3 wheel machines just aren't exciting and do not make me want to run out and get one, with the exception of T-Rex which is very expensive. I'm sure it will have some sales thoigh. Good luck guys
Why do Elio motors and this need such lead time to promise product to market while ones like Vanderhall just show up with price and order form ready to go?
Around 2016-09 a group of investors WAS interested, but Paul Elio BLEW THEM OFF as the investors wanted (Gasp!) oversight in how Elio Motors would be run.... Imagine that someone is fronting 300 + Million and they want some oversight on things as Paul Elio had NEVER RUN a business. (READ BELOW !) Oh, Google "Professor Elio Seat"... IIRC if you read thru it you will discover several years prior to the Elio 3-Wheeler idea Paul Elio took part in designing a SEAT, Paul did the crowd funding thing, and/or took money to the tune of IIRC 4.3 MILLION dollars... Had a manufacturer who was willing invest money to tool up to to manufacture the seat... and the DEAL FELL THRU as the manufacturer wanted some control /oversight of the project to ensure the design made it into PRODUCTION and PAUL REFUSED to relinquish any control, or accept any oversight. MFG's position being hey dude.. we're going to have to invest 10 million (EST) into tooling and training... So ya we want some say so on what needs to be done.. vs you right as we are ready to go into production coming up with some stupid design ideas (Like the ELIO ELGIN DIGITAL DASH).... and you make design changes that would cause us to lose our ass on this deal. BOTTOM LINE: On the "SEAT" deal Paul Elio found out he could "enrich himself financially" (4.3 Million) and NOT produce a product.... NO PRODUCT was sold. On the ELIO 3-Wheeler, It will most likely NEVER be produced as PAUL ELIO was WILLING TO TAKE YOUR MONEY, but he was UNWILLING TO GIVE UP ANY CONTROL.. He is unwilling to concede any input or oversight from those investing money to get the ELIO into production. Hey Paul, here's $300 MILLION DOLLARS... You've NEVER run a business and we investors have... So we to insure you don't do stupid stuff with our money we want some oversight on things. Something like that.
If the weight could be kept below 150 kg and the effect below 15 kW this could be registered as a light motorcycle in Sweden witch would allow 16 year olds to drive this on the highway. Normally you can't do that in anything like a car before you turn 18.
I've been looking at these type of cars for awhile. I had a motorcycle and wasn't comfortable on it in my area with the amount of traffic. plus I like having a roof and body around me for safety, heating and a/c. The three wheels doesn't bother me but I heard the NHSTA is changing the regulations on vehicles like this to prevent manufacturers from classifying them as motorcycles. Which is unfortunate, since it will make more hurdles for them to finally sell them. Could they sell them as a kit to get around this? I feel that a person should have the option, just like a motorcycle, to take the risk in a vehicle like this, if that's what they want. I'm curious though what it would be like on the highway around huge SUV's and trucks! It would seem you'd be pretty low to the ground in one of these!
A real good question is who will service this. Yes, I know an electric car has way less parts. Is it gonna be a DIY car or an electrician slash gas mechanic?
My 2006 Chevrolet Malibu can go 375 miles on a tank of gasoline so, even at the most expensive model which, if I did my math correctly, $16,000 at 200 miles is not worth it to me. I do, however like the sporty look to it. What is the input voltage on the battery as well as the mAh?
This is not normal,it looks so weird.i'm kinda getting the feeling of a three wheel car that was used to be in Mr.Bean videos that get flipped off in a speed turn
Motorcycles don't ride in the center of the road when there is an obstacle. They ride where car tires go. With a wheel in the middle you don't have the option to straddle an obstacle since there is a wheel in the middle. It's just basically common sense. He wasn't trying to make it complicated to understand.
You want a company like this to do well. Even if you don't buy this car. It helps breed competition. Competition always benefits the consumer. I really like the concept. That's the point of it being cheaper in many ways
When you have been training for 15 years but never done legs
Its like a F-Type lost a wheel.
Ren Gonzalez an*
$10K= 75-Mile Range Model
$13K= 150-Mile Range Model
$16K= 200-Mile Range Model
Not bad 👌🏽
Mr. Jay that’s actually a good deal bc a Tesla gets that much miles of range but there so much more expensive
It actually looks amazing
Yeah, it does look cool. I need a brighter red but no real complaints for $10,000.
I have been watching the development of this car for years. From his first video. I hope this fella has success.
2019 has passed, where is the car?
Looks like the car from blade runner 2049
heck yea. it looks awesome!
I wish this car design was 4 wheels. Its a really nice design. Reminds me of the Spyhunter car.
i agree, this is the first time a three wheeler was this beautiful.
This car looks great and this is a proven, stable configuration. and electric!
FPVREVIEWS
Electricity < Compressed Air < Petroleum Gasoline < Algae Oil
Electricity is not the future, it is our doom.
Is it front wheel drive??
The Reliant Robin is back!
Only if the wheel position is inversed
Wrong direction
um no
and if they make it as ugly as the robin
its nearly 2021. I guess you have your answer
i would buy it
All wheel drive will be so much fun on these!
3 wheels arent as bad as that haircut.
Tessemi rekt
id buy this !!!
How do you replace the rear wheel?
1000$ repair in the shop.
Same as you do on a Morgan 3 wheeler or a CanAm Spyder, or Motorbike, It'll be connected to a swing arm, it's probably actually easier tbh
Easy, its a single sided swing arm, so it comes off just like a cars wheel.
Gotta put that Monster truck Wheel to get the ladies 😏
Oil in the middle of the road? Really? What about a banana or a turtle shell? Can you give us your thoughts on those obstacles?
Elio addressed the 3 wheeled issue and nobody had a problem with it. Maybe he should have said "pothole" instead of oil? What he's saying is with a wheel in the middle there is no way to straddle an obstacle in the road.

I'm really looking forward to this...... Seems different and exciting
Nice for a low cost vehicle option
Exactly. I see this being big in the first car, graduation car, college car markets considering the low entry price.
AllPro777 I dunno, for 3k you can get a 94 Geo Metro which gets 50+ miles per gallon highway
There is no way this car sells for $10k. NO WAY. Now I just sold a 200k mile Prius for $1,000, gets 45mpg. That is a low-cost eco-friendly car.
@@nimblemotorsports I'd have asked for more, those batteries they put in them are not cheap
Is it normal in the us for the middle of the roads to be covered with a noticeable amount of oil? Was very surprised about his comments that this car might be affected by your oily roads.
I'm in the US and I've never heard anything about it before. (But I wouldn't rule it out for some areas)
yes. you can see it. mostly on the highways. there are two lines where the tires go and a darker area in the middle. but its not just oil, its also dirt.
I guess it would be tough being a motorcyclist on those roads.
Yeah was thinking the same thing. If it isnt a problem for motorcyclists it probably wont be for this vehicle, especially as it only has one of its tires in the middle, compared to a motorcycle with all of them there.

I REALLY want one ! , i have a sondors fat e-bike and its fun as hell, this is way badass
Finally, someone considered the grease lane with a middle tire. It's a disadvantage in many ways. 3 wheels instead of 4 means you now have 3 tracks to worry about for potholes. Crowd source so you can buy stock? As a motorcycle, insurance will hover around about 10-12 dollars a month with no accidents tickets and good credit.
Cool car, but looks like it was vaporware: I don't think there's been an update on it for 3-4 years.
great observation on the oil slick in the middle of the roads.
On a 3-wheeler you not only get oil slicks on the roadway, but you give all the potholes.....and speed bumps... Additionally for those in the SNOW STATES the front two wheels are going to track in ruts made by other vehicles, but that rear wheel is going to be tracking on virgin snow...
Can you say, Elio Motors?
Except this is much more expensive. To be fair, Elio is looking more and more like a scam with how long it is taking them to start manufacturing.
Remy Lebeau less of a scam, more of a disappointment. The guy behind it really wanted to get Elio going. Just didn't work out.
Tubular Topher The website is still up.
A genius project, I was waiting for exactly this. Why four wheels? This is a true environment friendly and beautiful car. I love it!
How do you change winter tires
Sondors rear wheel will catwalk on uneven road surfaces a bit , not not much worse than a regular 4 wheeler does anyway occasionally , braking would not be hindered by 3 wheels , most of the brake force will be upfront in any case , handsome concept , refinements will probably escalate projected costs and the sticker price
I would. Good looking vehicle.
Looks like am electric version of the Elios.
By removing the 4th tire it also allows it to be registered as a motorcycle and doesn't have to have the same crash requirements as a true "automobile." That being said, I think the world needs more "cars" like this.

I wanna know how someone is supposed to change the back tire
Justin Fluty
See motorcycles.
Ring the RAC or the AA.
COuld not find a test track?
Best of luck to the founder. He is crazy (in a best way)!
Where did you get the cut rate Jaws from the James Bond films?
Am I seeing the rear tire turn?
Re: "Am I seeing the rear tire turn?"
Rear tire does NOT pivot/ or "steer" if that is what you are asking.
WeAreNotAlone69 okay
Want. I want that. I can use that 80% of the year here in Chicago.
Is there a backseat? Any information on what this car is considered? A special license needed?
It's likely 3-wheeled to avoid expensive crash testing requirements. I think the Elio is considered a motorcycle in some states.
Elio isn't considered anything in any state because there have never been any offered for sale.
"It also makes it a lot easier to register in the United States." ...unless you live in Virginia, where 3 wheeled motorcycles are not allowed to have enclosed cabins or doors.
Well, that stinks. Unless...do you think maybe they could be classified as either an autocycle or a moped? I dunno, just thinking out loud...
I'm not talking about oil changes and stuff like that since it has no oil but it use tires so I guess I'm talking about the battery and electrical?
FSD avaiialable?
yea, this is a nice design and can go quite fast as well. Unlike the solo.
It’s 2024 and I’m still waiting!
The elephant in the room isnt a three-wheel-car. It's a grown man wearing chucks. Also denim jeans and a tucked in button down shirt with a tie. Who dressed you?
lets hope this one makes it. I despair of ELIO ever coming to production.
I was just thinking the other day, that eventually the center of freeway lanes will gradually become clean as ICE vehicles go their way with the coal trains and whaling industry.
How’s the back seat looks like?
It's probably about as roomy as the back seat of a Corvette. LOL

2019 here, haven't heard anything else about this car, they don't even have a place to produce them yet!
And it will stay a prototype as many three wheelers before ! No business case at all . And 10.000 selling price ? 4 GET IT !
It’s like a REALLY fancy scooter. Both are rechargeable, both are automatic (unlike motorcycles)
Looks okay. The price is nice on it. Hope they add a sun roof to it though or make a convertible version of it for a higher price.
HOV lane?
Trikes make so much more sense than 4 wheeled cars. So much lighter and aerodynamic.
I would buy one. 200 mile range would be nice
That would make a great delivery vehicle and parking would be easy but HOW LONG IS IT? ( =
Should've made a hybrid option.
Look it up Dale car from 1974. Watch the HBO documentary too, amazing! Luckily, if one day happens, this Sondors will have a better end. The bikes are awesome already though.
4 wheeled vehicles are boresome anyway, i dont even look at the exotics or sports cars anymore. This is surely going to turn some heads
RubberGently I mean for its price it's ok. Someone said this will be about 10k? Didn't watch the vid so maybe it's more but for 10k , it looks nice.

That looks very similar to the 100 mpg Xprize challenge
none of the X prize vehicles have gone into production they all died after the event. Even the ones that received the prize money.

How much oil are the vehicles spilling around him that it is that high of a concern.
What he's saying is if there's something in the road you can't straddle it like you can with 4 wheels.
Thanks about the info about the third wheel being in the middle of the lane. Food for thought.

Damned inexpensive for an upgraded Morgan. I'd buy one!
10,000 for this......45,000+ for the Morgan. And this one you can drive in the rain.
It's designed for malnutritioned countries so that it wont tilt?
Any company making 3 wheel cars is just trying to avoid car safety requirements, crash testing etc
This is a motorcycle!
An enclosed motorcycle to keep you protection in all kinds of weather
This is not normal,it looks so weird.i'm kinda getting the feeling of a three wheel car that was used to be in Mr.Bean videos that get flipped off in a speed turn
KroXser The Polaris Slingshot is better.
The reliant had one wheel steering. How can you miss that?
The Aptera is back
As a SPYDER rider. The "problem" with a three wheeler is not "the oil stripe" on the road. The problem is POT HOLES. Can't avoid the bumps.
Does this thing get to park in handicap spaces
If you are handicapped it will be allowed.
Motorcycles have no trouble dealing with the oil drip in the center of the road, this wont either. Never heard someone mention that.
Motorcycles don't ride in the center of the road when there is an obstacle. They ride where car tires go. With a wheel in the middle you don't have the option to straddle an obstacle since there is a wheel in the middle. It's just basically common sense. He wasn't trying to make it complicated to understand.
Finally we have a modern Mr Bean enemy car!
can it drift
Taiwo Olaleye
300ftlbs hell ya.
