@@cominguponinfra-red3038 sun wukong doesn’t have a transformation, goku’s transformation in this video is based on sun wukong, from their titles(great sage equal to heaven- sun wukong /the savior from heaven-son goku) goku even used one of the monkie king’s(ignore the spelling error I’ve been watching too much LMK) ability, to share knowledge and abilities.
Goku is inspired from Sun WuKong so it makes sense
@@cominguponinfra-red3038 so Akira Toriama drew a lot of inspiration from the Chinese mythological creature known as son wukong the monkey king. This god/deity was so powerful he was feared amongst all the gods. There even is a book called "journey to the west" which follows the former monkey king as he journeys across the land seeking redemption and peace. Goku as a kid used the flying nimbus and the power pole. Two of the items Wukong was given as a gift. He had a staff that extended to the heavens and was nearly indestructible (power pole) he often flew on a cloud of gold that he used to travel around. (Nimbus) the great ape transformations were a call to wukong being a sentient ape/ humanoid being. The title "Saviour from the heavens" is a refrence to wukongs title of calling himself "great sage equal to heaven" when he rebelled against the gods.(in the book journey to the west). His name translated from chinese is Sun Wukong, but in japanese its Son Goku. Hence the name Goku and why goku is referred to as Son goku sometimes in the anime and manga.
The transformation is just a refrence to sun Wukong, since wukong us an ape and not a "human" or "sayian" in some myths wukong has smoldering and firey eyes said to detect evil. Probably why they wreathed gokus head with flames.

@@matthewmorrison3745 rarely it did, but normally when they get knocked out of a transformation they don't recover as fast as in legend, they usually just go down and stay down for while

@@diggs825 Yea but usually when they get knocked out of super sayign they get knocked out or down. What he means is that the opponent can knock them out of super sayign, almost like losing their focus then getting back into focus. That sort of thing never really happened in dbz

Freiza is dead in this universe. The statue in the beginning is the old King Vegeta standing on Freiza's corpse. Remember Vegeta is already a Super Saiyan truthfully given the power scale Freeze didn't have a chance. New Lore is Crazy.

Love seeing new fresh ideas being brought to life, especially now where the future of hand drawn animation is shaky.
What he and his team need most is a lot of time and no deadlines like regular studios
@@tozy7208 he literally said they had everything but budget. Big studios are notorious for heavy crunch and overworking but when everything falls in place then full length high quality eps like this take a couple of months as opposed to half a decade
@@jerrberrrr I didn’t deny about the budget, but when free lancers joins studios most of the time the studios like to make deadlines regardless if the anime at the is making a lot of money for the studio
Like for example dbs , dbs is one of Toei biggest profitable ips but they still have mediocre to average animation on like 60% of the episodes (made up numbers but you get the point)
That is because they are not giving there animators enough time

The Asura's wrath esque take on Goku's Sun Wukong form was a treat.

The thing that really carries these fights are the choreography and the scaling. It's refreshing to see some actual hands being thrown and some strategy other than just shoot massive blasts and clash for hours straight. You see this issue in a lot of older Shonen when the character become busted and they chuck world ending attacks at each other over and over. This is something that a lot of newer Shonen are taking into account thankfully so you get your Demon Slayer and JJK fights.
Yes jjk fights and also my hero academia fights is why i like them cause of brainplay
“The Journey to the West” novel revolves around the Buddhist monk Xuanzang and four of his disciples, one was Sun Wukong (Monkey King) who has a cloud named Nimbus and a magic staff that extends and shrinks. Sun Wukong name in Japanese is Son Goku. You can see so much of this comparison in the early Dragon Ball series when Goku was young. His Pig friend who can change into anything in Dragon Ball series is also one of the disciples of Xuanzang.
Crazy how this film from a new unknown team literally is better than the entirety of super. Toei needs people like this that can actually introduce something new to dbz and have actual fight sequences rather than using the same attack animation 50 times.

I just loved how most every character had a unique look to their power up. The Son Goku monkey king was just insane to me way cooler than just making it blue or red and white.

First of all, I been waiting for you guys to do a reaction to this! Yo' respect to you Roshi for actually reaching out to the creator Naseer Pasha before uploading a reaction. Also, shout out to you for catching the Monkey King Sun Wukong transformation. A lot of people (myself included) didn't catch it on the initial watch. BTW, anyone else notice at 6:43 the heaven symbol written in the sky? The symbol is "Ten" (Japanese word for "Heaven", "Sky", or "Invincible"). It's the same symbol on Akuma's back. Appropriate they would place it right as Goku transforms into his Wukong form as "Savior of Heaven".
To be fair, it's Kanji, it's a Chinese word.

If you wanna know something that's almost the same as this but x100 times this quality, check out *Fog hill of five elements* . Which was made by 6 people with no budget and production for 6 total years while them working part-times. Now they are a pretty good studio called Nice Boat Animation which consists of 60+ staff and they are releasing a new movie which has been in production for 4 years North Wind
Gotta appreciate the work of a person that loves what they do, and seeing a new form/story based on Journey to the West would be awesome.
For a split second at 6:06 (You have to play at 0.25 speed), you can see Vegeta going through the Primal Ape/"Wukong" form that Goku turned into, he probably got agitated so much from Broly's hits that he briefly loses control for a second, hence Vegeta's comments to Goku after the fight that he still hasn't learned to control his Super Saiyan form.
Damn I wasn’t expecting y’all to react to this. This is definitely one of the best if not the best Dragon Ball fanmade animation i’ve ever seen, hope they continue with more projects. 🔥
This was so much more hype than it had any right to be. The creator did an INCREDIBLE job. Seriously, this was on a whole other level.
The animation here was clean throughout, there was weight behind every attack, Vegeta truly got his long overdue respect by the creators and finally Goku's Wukong mode was epic, I must have watched this film about 50 times by now and I still get chills
I love the vegeta on this universe imagine with all the other episodes and characterization with this kind of arts styles and effects...wow it will be superb ✨✨⭐
I'd love to see an actual movie of this. That was a great animation and for what they had, it was incredible, I couldn't imagine how it'd be if they had actual funding and more resources to work with

I love how this dude put a completely new spin on the Dragon Ball canon. It reminds me of when different comic book writers alter the origin stories and powers of existing superheroes. You don't really see that sort of thing done in manga! The idea that Vegeta, Goku and Broly are special saiyans who have this ancient, primal light force inside them as the source of their "Super Saiyan" powers is super sick.

To be honest the reason we will not get something like what you guys described is because shouen jump is really up their ass with their properties they basically only do things that get them money and db still makes them tons of cash without them even putting that much effort in so why would they bother

I love the part with Vegeta making a literal Ki blade referring back to Goku black using a scythe made of energy
And it also reminded me the fact that barely anyone uses a weapon along with their powers in the Dragonball universe.
Like imagine if Goku still had his staff, the choreography would be amazing.
Almost nobody seems to know that reference, especially Vegito's Spirit Blade.
Considering that Goku uses his ki as a defensive melee weapon (sparring against Future Trunks with his sword) having fought with his Power Pole, it would make sense that Vegeta would be more offense-oriented with melee ki use.

I like how the pacing is in this. Showing you a bit of everything. One thing that's refreshing is the 0 downtime in between situations.
The Monkey King transformation got me more hyped then ANY Super Saiyan/Ultra Instinct transformation ever did

So this has no relativity to this animation (which was absolutely amazing) but I’d love to see you react to the show “If it’s for my daughter, I’d even defeat a Demon Lord.” It’s one I’ve watched a couple times and as a parent it is both incredibly wholesome, and gut wrenching at times. So I’d love to see Roshi and Sheera’s reactions for it!

4 years is not just for animation, though, it's hiring a team and voice actors, and making all original music. And if this is is all hand-animated and colored. I can definitely see a small team led by one guy taking 4 years for this.

Fun Fact: This is actually a nod to an early sketch from Akira Toriyama when he was just planning to make Dragon Ball Series, he was influenced by the novel 'Journey to the West' then he drew Goku a MONKEE since Goku was based on Sun Wukong, his name "Son Goku" is the Japanese on'yomi rendering of "Sun Wukong", as Chinese and Japanese share the same characters but with different pronunciations.

It took them 4 years to create this beauty, I love that he really pushed the fact that goku him self is inspired by Wukong (the original kratos ong) , goku translates to Wùkōng in Chinese. The base of the story from him losing his memory to taking on all the gods. The Moneky King even was storming the heavens and fighting 100,000 celestials by himself all at once. Plus his nimbus, and his staff too, If you aren’t familiar with the journey to the west, it’s a great story there’s a actually LOT inspired by the monkey king, I’ve always loved the story and thats also why i’m beyond excited for black mist to come out to see a modernized version of the story. Dude went crazy with this fan animation fr ❤️🔥🔥🔥

Its all the little details as well. The guy in the opening scene walking past in the black cap is Christopher Sabat the voice actor for Vegeta, the arena is actually the Cell games arena, Akuma, The sword, more that I probably missed.

You can tell the creator understood Vegeta on a deep level. He's always been about the pride of the saiyans, his personality in Z is due to an inferiority complex from Frieza making him a lap dog after blowing up his race. He has no reason to hate Goku or act undignified in this timeline.

One interesting thing about DBZ time travel is that it runs on the parallel time theory. I haven't watched Steins Gate but I think there the time is linear. What this basically means is that you can go back in the past and change something which would effect the future. In DBZ going back in time won't effect your timeline. It would just create a seperate parallel universe. So if certain events take place they may cause us to deviate from our universe you actually arrive at a parallel universe where Son Goku is canon.
That's more or less what happens in Steins;Gate too. You should watch it. Even better, if you feel like reading, go through the visual novel.

I feel like this is an AU where Universe 7 Saiyans have a temperment closer to the Universe 6 Saiyans of Super.
Either that or in this version the first Super Saiyan didn't lose control and force the Saiyans off their original homeworld.

The subtle Vegito references were nice. The earrings Vegeta wore, and the ki sword he creates. Maybe I'm reading a bit too much into this but the red cape and hair reminded me of Tetsuo from Akira.

This genuinely brings me back to the absalon days back when I was a little kid just wanting anymore dbz. Dragon ball is so big its getting to the point where its like marvel comics and dc comics where there's different stories about the same characters in similar yet different worlds and its super fun to see

There was a fan manga that the artist made like 2 chapters of, then dropped it... and it was AMAZING!
Trunks's first jump into the past was off and he ended up jumping back to the Sayan saga right when Nappa started fighting everyone... and trunks was in some bushes watching... confused as hell. Because he had never seen his dad before nor did Bulma ever tell him that his father was evil and tried to kill everyone...
So he sat in the bushes watching people get clapped that he KNOWS died fighting the androids and hes just fighting the urge to jump in and stop the killing thinking that his jump already changed things to the point that people who fought the androids were dying.

I don't know if I'm mistaken, but Goku's power level being at 330 is what I think it was when Goku fought Raditz initially. But I remember it went up when he took off most of his gear.
