    Some Legendary Pokemon may be less rare than you think! Today we look into which ones are actually quite numerous. (Note: This video was made before the Crown Tundra and Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, but Dynamax Adventures and Ramanas Park do not affect any pre-existing Pokemon.)
    Music used in this video:
    -Mezase Pokemon Master 1998 (Intro Theme)
    -Slumbering Weald
    -Bell Tower
    -Latios Battle (Pokemon Masters)
    -Mewtwo Battle (Pokemon Origins)
    -Lake Trio Battle
    -Ho-Oh Descends (Pokemon the Movie: I Choose You)
    -Xenoblade Final Boss (Spoilers)

    Regarding why Porygon isn't Legendary while Type:Null is, it could be due to the fact that Porygon is mass-produced, whereas Type:Null theres only 3 of them. It wouldn't surprise me if Type:Null is only known to most people by word of mouth, he say she say, hence giving it the Legendary Pokemom status

      @ToasterOvenFilms It's not confirmed that Macro Cosmos is the company that stole Type: Null data. Though I suppose it is likely, since a Macro Cosmos employee is the one that gives you a Type: Null.

      Also, Porygon is capable of breeding together with a Ditto. Typ Null/Silvally aren't, what so ever.
      Silvally also has origins in the Chimera, a hybrid beast with enhanced power. Silvally was made as a manade copy of Arceus and as a beast that could slay stronger, possibly legendary otherworldly beings.
      Porygon meanwgile ist basically just some programing code. Impressive on its own and Porygon2/Z def have their strength. But lore wise don't quite reach Silvallys powers. Nor dp they play such a "meaningful" role as Silvally. One could argue, Silvally and Mewtwo are somewhat similar/ both being man-made creatures for combat reasons

    • @jvbon646
      @jvbon646 3 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      Sylvally is the same case as Mewtwo and Genesect.
      They are all man-made creations, that in theory should be replicable. But unlike other mand-made mons, they are also extremely powerful (both in-game and Lore-wise).
      Mewtwo was made with the purpose of creating the most powerful Pokemon ever.
      Genesect as Plasma's counter to Mewtwo.
      Sylvally as a weaponized Mini-Arceus capable of defeating threats from another Dimension.
      Anyone could replicate them, assuming, of course, you have the materials, data, blueprints and facilities + resources for such a task.
      You found Genesect's DNA, and know how to build it's Cannon and Drives? Then you can make your own Genesect.
      You found Mew's DNA, and know what modifications it had?
      Then you can make a new Mewtwo.
      You found the blueprints for Type: Full, how to build the RKS Systems plus all Memories, and the exact Pokemon body parts used, plus the Mask for if it goes out of control?
      Then you can create another Type: Full.

      @ToasterOvenFilms yes 3 exist in pokemon lore, the one gladion owns, he also gives one to the player character. And since we know there is a third, yet it doesn't work like the other two and was frozen. I assume macro cosmos and the ather at some point before the events of gen 8 worked together and gave macro cosmos the last type null they had.
      Though thats a theory.

      The divide between Mythic and Legendary has always been weird. Mythics are usually summed up by "They're the ones only available through events" but that doesn't prevent some of them from feeling like they should be Legendary while some Legendaries feel like they should be Mythics. I think the idea is the Pokemon with Legendary status are Legendary because people are aware of their existence and have notable proof while Mythics are usually like folklore or **hint hint** myths to the average person with more or less no solid evidence to prove their existence. I am fine with it being the case or not being the case. It kinda just depends on the game or story I guess. I can see Lugia specifically having authority over the Kanto trio specifically, but not any of the other bird trios that appear. They also don't seem to be very loyal in The Power of One.
      Ho-oh's specifically the leader of the Legendary beasts because it revived them, and I assume they dedicated their lives and loyalty because of that.
      Lugia lives in a far-off Island, so really the only Trio that could easily reach it at that point are the birds. I can see Lugia having a connection to Articuno and Zapdos, both Pokémon closely related to storms, but not really Moltres.

      Mewthree is a Pokémon which has never appeared in any game or anime episode, though it has had one appearance in the overall Pokémon franchise. It is the second clone of Mew. It is technically not a real Pokémon, as it is just a transformed form of Red's Clefairy.

    I think you gloss over the fact that it can be assumed player characters might release legendaries after some time. There's precedence for legendaries being released and recaught in future games - After all, N released Zekrom/Reshiram and it allowed itself to be caught by another trainer. For example, Mewtwo could have easily (for some reason) relocated to Kalos after being released. The same goes for Groudon and Kyogre
    I also think Arceus creating new copies of Dialga/Palkia/Giratina is kind of cheating. After all, he's theoretically the one that created all Pokemon in the first place. Based on that in-game event, it can be assumed he could arbitrarily make another copy of any of them. I don't think that lessens the Sinnoh trio's "one of a kind" status, as told in the region's myths. And who knows if that Cynthia event is really canon, since you could only obtain Arceus through mystery gift, since its main-game event was never released.

    • @Meichrob7
      @Meichrob7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      To be Fair N kind of just recruits pokemon nearby to help and never brings them with him so that’s just typical for him whereas it’s not really something seen by any other characters outside of Pokémon rangers, so I’m not sure if he’s the best example to use for precedent of normal trainer or player character behavior.

    There's some debate as to wether or not Kyurem is an alien or the leftovers of the original dragon, but I always thought the meteor and original dragon theories were BOTH true;
    Kyurem came to earth in a meteorite fused with Zekrom and Resheram, but rather than the Kyurem we know, it was the complete form. When either Zekrom or Reheram fuse with it, they are still called Kyurem, just with black or white as a describing word. If Zekrom and Resheram fused with Kyurem, they'd just be 'Kyurem complete' kinda like how ultra Necrozma is still Necrozma. When people say 'Kyurem came from a meteorite' they could be talking about the original Kyurem fused with both Zekrom and Resheram, who later unfused. It's also not hard to see that the giant chasm is a meteor impact site, soooo... ya. I think both versions are true. Or not. Pokemon lore is a meeeeeees

      @TheSylveonSurfer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@grydon6422 Agreed. I think it's far more likely that both are true but Kyurem was already confirmed as the original, in game if I remember right. The way it seems, it's probably likely that the original Kyurem (Who hadn't yet been split apart by the two heroes) crash landed on earth via the meteorite. And after going on a rampage, was split into three distinct Pokemon. Him not learning Meteor Beam or whatever like the dude in the video mentioned could be summed up via the idea that not every Pokemon of a certain type learns every move within its own type. I'd probably place Kyurem in the same boat as Necrozma, Deoxys, and Eternatus.

    • @eeveefan132

The result was akin to an atomic bomb (y’know, the bomb that works by splitting atoms). But again, this is just a theory. It could also be that when the Original Dragon split, Kyurem was sent blasting off (like Team Rocket) and landed in the area that we now know as Giant Chasm.

    Regarding the appearance of Groudon and Kyogre in HGSS. It's canon that the player never actually caught them in RSE. Following their battle in RSE's story, the two pokemon left for the Fiore region to rest, where they make their Pokemon Ranger appearance. Since the player is literally incapable of catching them in a Pokeball in that game, it's reasonable to think that after leaving Fiore, they ended up in Johto, where you have the opportunity to catch them in the postgame. In general, any pokemon that you aren't forced to catch in the story mode of a game should be considered "optional content" and therefore non-canon in terms of the player character catching them (albeit canon in terms of "they are at this location at this point in time"). This is why Mewtwo can reappear in HGSS despite having the postgame OPPORTUNITY to catch them in RBY and FRLG.
    Note that when I say "postgame" here, I don't mean stuff like post-championship stories (i.e. the Delta Episode, Rainbow Rocket, or Swordbert and Shieldbert). That stuff is still part of the "main" story and therefore canon to that game, even if it's after you become champion and the credits roll.

    I’d imagine there are more of the original dragon (or were if they‘ve gone extinct) but since Reshiram, Zekrom and Kyurem were all created from unorthodox circumstances then I’d imagine there’s only one of them, with the other original dragons having the potential to also split and become those three (if they still exist that is).

    I feel like Lugia should've at least been moved up to fairly common because there actually isn't one for every trio due to the fact that there isn't a Galarian Lugia or even a Lugia for the Galarlian Legendary birds. And even if that's true it doesn't always have to be a different Lugia, because in Galar there are TWO legendary bird trios you have the Galarian ones and the ones in the Dynamax adventures raids, yet only one Lugia is present.
    That is my evidence as to why Lugia isn't as common as the legendary birds. (even if it can reproduce)

    I'd argue that the Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem are one of a kind definitely. Now there may be more Kyurem out there but not the one we know. I'm talking about the original dragon Kyurem before the three way split. That dragon may have more than one of them roaming around. However the leftover husk of a Kyurem we know is one of a kind as is the pieces that split which are Reshiram and Zekrom. Unless that original species of dragon that the original dragon of Kyurem is just has a predisposition to splitting into three, then those three are a very specific and one of a kind case.
    Necrozma and Eternatus I would hold off on judgement. Extra-terrestrial and extra dimensional pokemon are only rare on the planet of Pokemon and they could extremely common in their home environments. After all the Ultra Beasts are common as spit in Ultra Space, with one being so common that not only is it a starter pokemon in Ultra Space, it's the equivalent of a route 1 Pidgey or Rattata.
    Lastly, I would drop Silvally a tier and move Zygarde up. Anyone with a Type: Null can just get a Silvally. It's not one of a kind, just few of a kind. With Zygarde there should be only one whole. The rest are pieces of the same pokemon. You wouldn't count each individual member of a Falinks as its own Pokemon even though they can operate separately, Zygarde and its cells and cores are no different. It's all just one Pokemon that's in pieces.

They likely came into being when Arceus created the dimensions they inhabit, or perhaps they are the dimension; and what 10 year old little Timmy catches is not a reality ending monster but a glorified puppet that these godly beings use to exert their will on the world. I had a thought since legends arceus came out. Since every game cartridge is it’s own universe and every generation is on a separate cartridge, that could mean that legendaries in the same “timeline” of games could be drawn to the player character in different regions. I like to think that after fighting and catching arceus in PLA, arceus realises that there is something special about the player character (you playing as them). Arceus tells the creation trio and they tell other legendaries. So now whenever you start your Pokémon journey, every legendary under the sun realises somethings up makes a beeline for whatever region you’re playing in. Which is why every legendary is available in every region as of late.
    I know this is dead wrong but I like the idea of this lol.

I barely played the beginning of the game so I don't know which Pokemon appear in it but the legendary Pokemon that appear in the game besides Arceus that you may have labeled as one of a kind or almost one of a kind may have more residing in this games region since it's events are most likely happening at the same time as some of the main line games events are happening.

    I'm not sure if there are multiple mewtwo's, I believe the tv series are also multiple timelines with some main splits with x and y. The mewtwo that we are used to "the original mewtwo" follows the x route, and the mewtwo that is more social is the y-route.

    • @EverlastingAura1

      I don't think that's true. They're all licensed by The Pokemon Company right? Why would the anime and manga not be canon?

    • @jaernihiltheus7817
      @jaernihiltheus7817 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Every piece of official pokemon media is canon. However, just because it's canon - doesn't mean it's on this timeline or in this universe. Multiverse entering the fray in Gen 6 killed any sort of "Is the anime canon or not?" arguments. The anime, Gens 3-5, Gens 6+, and most likely Gens 1-2 are all in separate timelines.

    • @lumberjacktl97
      @lumberjacktl97 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jaernihiltheus7817 Says who? Unless they come out and specifically state that its different timeline then it isnt canon. First thing that comes out are the games and then everything else is based on them with changes. Mainline games is whats canon.

    • @jaernihiltheus7817
      @jaernihiltheus7817 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lumberjacktl97 they have, to my knowledge, not specifically stated that the anime is an alternate timeline in the games' multiverse, no. However, the anime has dealt with the multiverse before in the xyz series, ash greninja is a thing in gen 7, and a photo of ash and pikachu make a cameo in gen 7 as well. And considering they both have multiverses, and the games have made several direct call backs and references to the events of the anime in recent years, there's no logical way that the anime(s) don't exist within the games' canonical multiverse.
      Therefore, while not strictly, definitively canon, it is canon by both implication (introducing multiverse theory in general makes former non-canon material highly likely to be canon in an alternate universe by default), and references (ash greninja, ash & pikachu picture).

    I feel like the "Entei being born" thing is just some myth rather than fact....
    Also, Battle Frontier and the likes I feel shouldn't be counted. Those trainers are supposed to be competitive training rather than taken seriously as characters. So I feel that also isn't canon. After all, in the Pokemon games, the studio where the games were created can also be found.
    Also, the Legendary Birds fly around the entire world. And the variants of them only exist AFTER portals to other dimensions exist.

    well if you go with the pkm adventure as a source the trio in the shinjoh ruin is the same as the trio in diamond/pearl/platinum as the shinjoh event happened b4 and right at the end you see cynthia seeing them flying back to shinnoh. Pokemon media is very conflicting so i guess stick to one source i guess. Also you can't just use "cuz it appear in different games so there are multiples of them" as a reason cuz lots of stuff were changed and adapted for different games, the embedded tower thing was just supposed to be one of few rayquaza sleeping spot and then it was adapted as a way to get the other 2.
    Aside from the golems, birds, dogs trio, pretty much every else is one of a kind (aside from some weird one like lugia/cosmog or "non box art" like urshifu)

    I despise the notion that any legendary isn't one of a kind, with only a handful of exceptions. Having any more than one master of space or time sounds like a recipe for disaster.
    Why are there certain legendaries outside their original regions? Either they were never canonically captured or they are only there as post game stuff to keep the player busy for a little longer.
    Why do post game trainers casually have legendaries? They either canonically captured them, like with N, or, in the case of every battle facility leader, it's just the easy way to make post game trainers stronger than the main game stuff.
    Why is Ho-Oh in Orre during Colosseum? It's retaliating against Cipher for capturing and corrupting it's "children", the legendary beasts.
