You may have one, but I was hoping y’all might do a video on selecting, choosing a cast iron pan. I want to cook with cast iron and make cornbread, but I just feel like I’m unsure of the size, which kind, is all cast iron created equal, and how to begin seasoning, maintenance. Thank you for channel and amazing videos and congrats on becoming grandparents! 💙🩵
I lost my Mama 7 years ago. I have to tell you that tonight, I put your video on and just cooked in the kitchen listening to you. It was a great comfort. Thank you for sharing your culture and cuisine!
CONGRATULATIONS on your new grandbaby!! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! ❤ And tell Katie to please give herself lots of Grace during the newborn phase!! Still praying for you all!
Congratulations on baby Ira 🎉 good name and not one I would have thought of having never known an Ira. That’s good because when someone says his name he will know who they’re talking to!!!
Oh, how I grinned when I heard that little baby cry. He's smelling all that love coming from his grandma's kitchen. Congrats to all! Ira's a lucky boy to be born into this family.
Tipper you cook a lot like my mom. She was the oldest of 8 children, and raised in Ohio. Her food was amazing! We grew our vegetables, chicken, pork, and much of our fruit. Your family is wonderful, and they are so blessed to have you!
I'm a 60 year old single man . I grew up in southern Wv. I love watching your channel . I like the biscuit dough better in chicken and dumplings . Take the Dumpling out and break them up and butter them and then put the chicken and broth on top . As a kid when grandpa and i would go hunting , grandma would make squrill dumplings . Matt is a lucky guy . Country life is the best .
My grandma made the best chicken and dumplings. We always had green beans and cornbread along with our chicken and dumplings, too. So many happy memories with my grandma. Miss her so much. Congratulations on becoming grandparents.
Dear lovely woman, please don’t say “Should have” because you do so very much for us all here and at your home. You do perfect and that is perfect! Big hugs to you and yours.
She's just adorable!! Cooking like my grandma & my mom- So much so I just googled Appalachia and I'll be damned if Walnut Mountain where my mom grew up - is a subsection of Appalachia!!!!!!!!! In all my years I never knew that! Grandma nor mom mentioned Appalachia/ Only Walnut Mountain! I finally got a story to tell my MoM lol 🫶🏽👍🏽🤙🏽 Rest in Peace Grandma Hampton 💜
My grandma made drop dumplings! Super Easy - Super good! When people come to visit me that's what they always want me to cook for them! I'm sure yours are good too! 😊
That sure was a beautiful ole fashioned country meal.. can't get any better..u know it's good when like Matt trys to get that last bit off the plate 😆... congrats on little bit and so lovely Katie and the baby doin good 😊..he was born to a warm, lovin, Christan family and y'all are blessed.. truely happy for each one y'all.. thanks for sharin..
I hope you are enjoying that new grandbaby! And in a few months, you'll get another one. So excited for your family. Being a grandparent is the BEST. 😊
Congratulations! Grandma and Grandpa on the birth of sweet baby Ira. Another generation has begun for the Pressley family. So happy for Katie and all of you. You all have been Blessed. ❤💙🙏
Mom used to cook her chicken in a separate pot and skim off anything that was floating at the top of it. She'd pull apart her chicken. Then with her dough, she'd make a double bach, cut them up in long strips, let her noodles dry out and then ball up her noodles to make them thick or thicker. She made wonderful homemade chicken and noodles! They were awesome ❤❤
I watched the whole video feeling like I was watching my Grandma cook 50 years ago. I can't believe its 2025 and people are still cookin' & eatin' like this - God bless you!
Awwww!!!! That sweet precious little Baby Ira cry in the background! He’s strong!!! You can tell by that cry! Great meal as always! Exactly like my Memaw used to make.🥰 And thank you again for all you do.
Tipper and Matt ❤ So happy for y'all. What a Beautiful Blessing it is to be grandma and Papa. Boundless joy. And one more coming! Sending Love to All. God Continue to Bless this Sweet Family. 🙏
So happy that Katy and your grandson are well. You must be thrilled to have your first grand baby. I know that Matt will be proud to have a young'un to teach all a boy should know to become a man. I love chicken and slicks. Probably my favorite soup. My okra seldom makes it from the garden to the house. I like it raw better than any other way. I am disappointed when harvest is so big I have to freeze it .
I'm so happy for your darling family I could bust. Congratulations on becoming grandparents. What a lucky baby boy. Enjoy this time with him it's precious 💙
My Gramma always called them slickers. She boiled a ham shank with some potatoes quartered lengthwise. Then shortly before serving, she mixed up the slickers using flour and broth from the ham. No shortening or salt. Super simple and delicious. The best food usually is. I enjoy your channel, feels like home.
Congratulations being grandparents! You will love every moment! I have 9 grandsons and 2 granddaughters! Nothing better in life🥰 I love chicken n dumplings!
Lovely meal! I love the fact you make meals that all levels of folks can make.. No unusual ingredients! You're awesome! I'm going to make your recipe! Health and Smiles! Ohio😊
My father grew up during The Great Depression when food and money were tight. He always called flour dumplin' dust and rarely would eat them. This looks like a great meal!
My mom always cooked a whole chicken and lots of celery, carrots, and onions. Her dumplings were drop biscuits, and so fluffy and covered with fresh parsley. My husband hated this dish until he had my mom's. His mom made the slimy kind of dumplings, which he always picked out. Lol 😂 Congratulations on the birth of your grandson. What a blessing. ❤
We had the fluffy but yet dense, steamed dumplings that were yes, slimy if I admit it But they were coated w/fat flavor actually They were plopped on top the stew or soup and cooked 12 min - blossoming into balls of heavenly bliss that the stew was then served over I always ate 1 plain too Just SO good noodles are just noodles to me, not dumplings
As a viewer of your channel, I am very happy about Ira's arrival! The comments in this video will naturally be flooded with CONGRATULATIONS to the grandparents, and of course to Katie! Ira will grow up in a loving family, no doubt about that! Tipper, it is heartwarming how you mention memories of Miss Cindy - Now you are also making chicken and dumplings just like she did once when Katie and Corie were babies 💗 BEST WISHES and BLESSINGS to you all!
YUMMMM! Gosh. Seeing your thumbnail. Took me back to being 8 years old and having supper @ my grandparents. I bet your kitchen smells so good. Now I will have to make some. (Well try). It’ll never be like my mamaws.
I enjoy all your cooking videos. Not only does it all remind me of my mountain mama 💖 but it puts me back in touch with my roots. Mama worked a full time job and brought sewing home at night to raise 2 kids on her own. But she ALWAYS had a southern supper with scratch biscuits or cornbread on the table every single night. Amazing woman, she was. You cook your dumplings just like my mama, and her mama cooked them. Somewhere down the line I started adding fresh parsley to the dumplings. I still do occasionally.
Good grief, Tipper. You are accustomed to it, but there is a huge amount of organization, talent and stick-to-it-ive-ness in the execution of this meal. I would give up ten of my big dogs, eight brooder hens and a pair of sixteen hand horses with a bad attitude for a meal like this. A nightly supper of this goodness will surely keep a family together, as you, Granny, and anyone who provides daily sustenance to their loved ones knows. Mazeltov on the birth of your grandson and the health of Katie!
I loved Tipper's advice to just keep cooking to learn the timing of cooking a whole meal. Watching Tipper cook a whole meal it helpful too. I was blessed to have watched and learned from my mother and grandmothers.
My mom and her siblings grew up in Jellico Tennessee and surrounding areas. I grew up in southern Ohio and we always had a garden and I was surrounded by good southern cooks, we always had cornbread and homemade biscuits and garden vegetables, also all the ones they canned. My mom canned or froze everything she got. She never wasted anything since they never had a lot growing up. Unfortunately my mom passed in October 21 and all but 1 brother are left out of 9. I so miss all of them as I spent most of my life surrounded by them and all the good southern food. I remember some of the food that I learned to make watching her but I feel like I don’t know everything I wish I did. I love watching your videos since it reminds me of some of the things I ate all the time growing up and also the phrases my family used. It does make me miss all of my family that passed but it is a comfort to watch you. I also had to buy your cookbook and your bacon grease jar. I had bacon grease in 3 different containers.
I keep seeing this video in my thread. It must mean I have to make it. It reminds me of my great granny. This is exactly what she would’ve cooked on any given Sunday.
Oh my goodness, Miss Tipper, that meal looks delicious! What in the world am I doing watching it after 9 o'clock at night?! Probably not a good time to be whetting my appetite...so I'll just have to watch it again in the morning! You are a real blessing to listen to after a rough day (and at the beginning of the day, and in the middle of the day...). Thank you and God bless!
Congratulations on the new grandbaby. Nothing like being a grandparent. I love the videos, especially the cooking and gardening ones. I helped my grandmother make dumplings from the time I could see over her table. We make flat dumplings like you. My grandmother kept them in the freezer on sheet pans. She would layer them in the long strips with wax paper between them. When she cooked them, she would just break them in pieces into the hot broth. Keeping them in the freezer kept cooking chicken and dumplings from being such a chore. Then on an afternoon when there wasn't much to do, and her dumplings were getting low in the freezer, we rolled out dumplings. She never froze them after cooking them, but I'm sure it would be fine.Great memories.
Welcome to the most wonderful part of life! Ira is a special little man that was no doubt held and rocked by Pap in Heaven. Much love to you and the family.
In your famous words, "What a feast!" This looks absolutely delicious. You can tell that you love to cook good food for your family. When Matt said your green beans had made it to Granny status, it gave me chills. LOL! What a lovely compliment. I love that Corie and Austin come over and eat with y'all. Congratulations to all of y'all on the arrival of baby Ira. God Bless You.
Thank you. I love your show. I grew up in my early years in Kentucky. Your recipes are the same foods my mother cooked. She didn't leave recipes. You are my saving grace. 😊
That meal looked delicious....I have never had okra, dumplings or cornbread, but is must be good because everyone was filling their plates! Congratulations on becoming grandparents...exciting times for your family.
We called those kind of dumplings, pastry. Chicken and pastry. It's dumplings when we drop them off a spoon. I'm so grateful I found your channel. Hearing your accent takes me back to those Kentucky hollows. Thank you.
All the food looks absolutely delicious. Congratulations on the arrival of that little bundle of joy. Grandchildren are such a blessing and fill your life with unimaginable happiness. Enjoy! ❤
Tipper, I LOVE your channel! The food always looks so scrumptious! My favorite part of your videos is when Matt fixes his plate and brags on your food! There is so much LOVE in your home! You can always be assured that when you visit your home for supper, you will always leave with a full stomach and heart. Your videos nourish the soul and the heart. GOD bless you and your family. Much Love and Blessings!
Something about matt saying your green beans are close to grannies just made my heart smile. My mamaw was an amazing cook and when my mom cooks gravy and biscuit it taste just like mamaws. Now my mamaw is gone its like it's her in the kitchen when my mom makes that. Its so special
I know I’ve said it before but I just absolutely love watching your videos! Every one of them! They help me so much. And they are so enjoyable, remind me of growing up, your cooking is so much like both of my grandmothers’. Even though they were from the country in GA and Alabama, they cooked so much like you and Granny. So happy for all of you with your new grandson! 💖
Tipper, thank you for sharing this with us. I have my Mom's spoon that she used to mix with. Either her Dad or father in law gave it to her back in 1940s. She called it her loving spoon.

Good grief, Tipper. You are accustomed to it, but there is a huge amount of organization, talent and

Thank you so much!!
Congratulations on LilBit arriving safely. I love the name Ira. We can’t wait to hear what it’s like being grandparents.
Thank you 😊
You are a terrific cook. My family is from Kentucky. 😊

We like to make our dumpling with chicken thighs with skin and bone…I add butter to my dumplings when it is all done.

Tipper, thank you for sharing this with us. I have my Mom's spoon that she used to mix with. Either her Dad or father in law gave it to her back in 1940s. She called it her loving spoon.
I hear baby Ira!!! ❤️
Wow. You're the first person I've ever seen who freezes AND cooks okra the same way as myself. Love, love, love your channel.
Thank you 😊
