To this day one of the most underrated Legend of Zelda games and one of my all time favorites, people say the theme was to dark, I say it had the perfect touch of Twilight.
There's no such a thing as an underrated Zelda game. Since day 1, Shigeru Miyamoto and Eiji Aonuma have been pushing the capabilities of both software and hardware, and it's safe to say that videogames are what they are today thanks to The Legend of Zelda. Even the not so popular games (like Skyward and, well, this one) are at, least, near flawless games.
Imagine how this sweet intro must've felt for all those long-waiting fans who first picked this game up after its first release on the Gamecube. The very first Zelda game with these graphics and this epic music. I'm pretty sure they started crying after watching just the intro.
Toon Link I did, and I STILL get goosebumps. To me, there is no better intro in entertainment. Fun fact: I was on the trail end of a cold when I got the game. Now, colds are much more tolerable due to their association with that experience. The only games that I could consider better are Majora's Mask and Chrono Trigger. Modern games are mostly a disappointment.
Toon Link i was 5 years old when my mom and dad bought this game for me, and i bawled like a baby and it was the first time i ever cried tears of joy. its probably my best memory of when i was younger :)
It was amazing for me because this was my first Zelda game and it honestly resonated with me so strongly. And look at me now. Zelda my number one favorite franchise, and going full completionist on ever zelda game (except Links Awakening and Oracles because I never had a gameboy or gameboy color)
I agree with you there. It had been so cool, if there would of have been a Dark Link fight. I mean, the last shrine, with the last shadow crystal. The scene with Ranelle, where the light spirit explains what was up with the shadow crystals, it would have been so cool, if there had been a fight between Link und Dark Link
I would make it the miniboss of the temple of time. Darknut would replace armogohma, and you would fight it by controlling a suit of armor with the dominion Rod.
When I was growing up my dad would play this for me on the GameCube after work. Before he would come home, I would turn on the GameCube and wait for him to come home and this intro sequence would play while I waited for him... I watched it over and over till he would come home. It brings back so many memories...
I can relate to your experience. I use to play ocarina of time with my dad when I was 6 year old until we beat it. Same with Majora's mask. Good times..
I used to watch my dad play this game on the wii when I was really young, it's one of my earliest memories lol Twilight Princess is such an amazing game
Glad so many people have the same experience. Used to play this with my mum as a kid. Just got my hands on a switch recently and playing botw has been amazing, despite watching the playthrough years ago.
Why does everyone hate the Wii version? Because of motion controls? What's wrong with them? Besides, if Twilight Princess had never come to Wii, a lot of younger people would never have become Zelda fans; people like me.
I don't really like it as much as the gamecube version just because I had the GC first and played it on that system, so when I played it on the wii it completely threw me off for a while. Plus, Link's always been left-handed in all of the games. Kinda feels like you lost a certain quality about him .3. But I still like playing it. It's like a Twilight Princess "Master Quest" whenever I play it, I guess xD
Include me, It's the first time I played a zelda game, since it's the first nintendo console I owned besides gameboy color and advance, Now, I know everything about it.
Very similar to Ocarina of Time's opening, but far better in my opinion. I love everything about this game. The somber tone, the emphasis on twilight, the music, the graphics, and especially the gameplay.
Even though it's not the newest it will always look the best because no other Zelda game took as big as an approach at making the game look realistic like this instead of cartoony. It's an amazing game and it's my favorite of all the big 5 Zelda games.
notice how the legit timeline is the one that looks realistic. In my opinion should be renamed to the forgotten timeline as all evidence points to link the hero of time being forgotten....
After 17 years I just realized that the sound of Epona's hooves hitting the ground is used like an instrument in the song! This game is such a masterpiece.
Jose Lopez Wolf Link is my favorite Twilight Princess Character he needs to return in new Legend of Zelda Videogames and I would love to see Dark Wolf Link Dark Wolf Link would be an interesting and great Dark Version of Dark Link :)
For the second half of the intro (where the sort of trailer kicks in), I found the sheet music for it when I was a kid. I remember I would sit there with the game turned on and wait for that part to start up so I could play along; it was the most epic feeling in the world. I'd do this over and over and over again, I loved it so much XD
Do you have it by chance and would you pass it on to me? Or do you know what the piece it's called, (I know it's a variation of Zeldas Main theme, but it may still have its own name?)

You can tell they were trying to recreate the Ocarina opening and honestly I think they did a good job. Twilight Princess battles for my favourite Zelda game alongside Majoras Mask.
I consider OoT, MM, and TP to be a trilogy, and not just that, but the key 3 entries in the franchise. BotW was far too light on the Zelda feel, WW is really good but idk, its just not the same. Traversing land on a quest is better than ocean and sky
@@tylerjaynes822 Agreed. Windwaker was just as good, and very unique. I just prefer riding around Hyrule instead of traveling by sea. It was a very cool concept though! Also a little too cartoonish. I probably say that because the dark games were my favorite (TP and MM)

I love TOTK but this is something else. The graphics are of course way more primitive but it's the art style that does it for me. It's a great game and is my favourite Zelda game ever.
when wolf link was howling at the end and a part of Midna's theme plays, what if wolf link was howling out of sadness and grieving of midna's goodbye, and Midna's theme shows that he misses her and always remembers their adventure together from time to time? This is all based on if the title theme is set after finishing the game.
Good theory but how would Link transform without Midna. She had that thing that transformed him and Link couldnt have kept it after she left because he cant touch it. Thank you for putting up with my two cents.
The thing is you could see twilight so the game wasnt even half finished so it didnt reach the point where zelda sacrifices to save midna. Thats why midna wasnt there, cause she didnt have the protection against light. Hope it helped in some way.
when i was a child i received this game as a birthday gift from my parents because they knew i liked zelda because i played wind waker. when i opened the gift and saw the game cover i didn't know what an amazing game i just held in my hands. till this day the best zelda game i've ever played.
Same here. I’ll never forget watching the opening intro for the first time ever back in 06. I was with my sisters who introduced me to video games, they were around high schoolers during this time. I was just three and in awe of the magic I was witnessing. Greatest Zelda game of all time, idc what anyone says. I may be biased, since it’s my first one I ever played, and it’s held to such a special place in my heart and childhood, but I still don’t care. This game is and always will be magical to me.
Breath of the Wild was my first Zelda game, and I loved it so much that I’ve gone back and played the other 3D Zeldas. I’ve played Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Wind Waker, and now Twilight Princess. So far, Twilight Princess is my favorite by a mile.
One of my most vivid memories of this game was when it had snowed and school was delayed by two hours and boy was i fucking excited to play this game for just two more hours, i wish life was that simple now :,)
Wolf-Link howling at the twighlight barrier always sends a chill through my spine ... I like to imagine Midna is in there, waiting for him and his howling means: "I will find a way to safe you!"
As a kid who grew up playing Ocarina of Time, this game filled my teenage years with SO much joy! I was home, sick with the flu the first time I played it, and this intro brought tears to my fevered eyes. Especially 0:55...
Same here bro. I didn’t play Ocarina until it was released on GameCube and I was blown away. Was so excited when this finally released. Ended up being my favorite Zelda game. I wish they’d make another Zelda with a mature dark art style again.
Many years later from when I first play it, this opening still give the chills and goosebumps. I may have only played the GameCube because I couldn't fathom the Wii gameplay at the time, but it is still an amazing game
I tried to convince my band teacher in high school to play this. He said it sounded beautiful. Then someone ratted me out and told him it was from a video game. He scoffed and shit me down after that.
The graphics of this game are so beautiful..including the soundtrack. even not in HD i love it. One of my favorite Lengend of Zelda games. I can't wait for that one in 2015 to come out.
Zelda isn't just a game. Zelda is something who tells so much about your character, about your life, if you are empathic or not. Zelda is definitely more than a game. It accompanied me through my whole life since I was 9 years old. Now I am nearly 27. It's a part of my life with many memories. Zelda is very important in my life
This game perfected and built upon the formula OoT set down as a 3D Zelda standard. I love OoT, but this game altogether did a better job at it. OoT made it, TP perfected it. They're all great games (MM, WW, TP, OoT and SS in my top 5) and I see no reason why people hate on TP so much even though it did a better job at OoT than OoT did itself. Oh, and the intro's fricken awesome.
I feel like people just shit all over the plot holes and act as if that makes it a bad game, despite the fact that pretty much ALL of the Zelda games are chock full of "Zelda Logic", lol.
I used to play this game intro on loop on my tv and the console would get mad that I wasnt playing the game because i was too busy listening to the game intro on loop
+Twero Produções I never noticed that. I always felt like it was really dark to have it at sunset, but if its sunrise...does that mean that it's a sign of hope? Like the sun is rising on Hyrule? Haha just a fun tidbit to think about lol.
14Shadowrose Well, that was the original concept. The twilight is (literally) falling over Hyrule. We are in a sunset in the GC version. But ,due the Wii version is mirrored, the sun is rising.
I remember when I was 13 years old, I came home from school, turned on my Wii and was shocked by the intro of this video game, the music, the colors, the camera angles... so much nostalgia in a single video.
After all this time, 15 years, this game was one of the best things that happen to me.This game represents the last part of my childhood just before teenage
This is one of the greatest video games ever made. Every time I see this opening it implies 'safe masterpiece' all over it, and 'don't worry son, you will never be disappointed with this one...we understand. Just rest and enjoy the game.'
I know it doesn't mean too much all these years later, but this was my first Zelda game I ever beat. And this was my first Master Sword. The First one I ever got in a Zelda game, it means alot to me, that this was *my* Master Sword.
I played It like 2008 when My father give me my Wii,man this was My first Zelda and i always i'm going to remember it,this was the first game i ended complete whit all the secrets It was my childhood i haved like 7 years when i finish this
This opening is only topped by Oot in my opinion. The chills I get and the nostalgia that washes over me make me yearn for simpler times. I replay these two every year. It's like the gaming equivalent to comfort food to me.
I know! I Feel so happy and stress free watching this just like the good ole days! I wanna just stay at home everyday and relive Zelda on the wii and N64! To bad I can't :(
i remember as a kid i would boot up the game to watch the intro, let the menu idle, then watch the trailer because of the music. this game definitely sparked my opinion that a games soundtrack is just as important as the graphics, controls, and story of a game.
The Christmas that we got the Wii and this game, my mom was over the moon. She rushed to set up the console and start playing her first Zelda game since having kids. I was in the third grade. This title sequence is quite possibly the most nostalgic thing for me. It's never ceased to be magical.
I once heard someone say Ocarina of Time trumps this game in terms of story and music, and I watch and play this game, and wonder like...why? This game's musical score is so beautiful. And I love the visual style. If anything, it still looks better than Ocarina of Time 3D
And at least this game has characters that have some meaning to the overall narrative. And it doesn't help that Midna is the best and most fleshed out character in the Zelda universe
Nostalgia mostly, and OoT isn't as tedious in certain parts of the game. But TP is definitely one of the best Zelda games out there. I'd say Number 2 with Number 3 being Majora's Mask
Crazy Mofo who just so happens to want you dead What OoT fans have you met? Although Ocarina of Time was my first/favorite, I've played ALttP, TP, WW, OoA/S, PH and even a little bit of LoZ I and II.
I’ve been watching this same intro for like the past three days and I can’t believe how something so beautiful was in the form of a game. I loved playing this game so much when I was 7 years old and I want to relieve that nostalgia. I bought the game online and now I plan on buying a GameCube before the game comes in :)
My life seems like a mess, but watching this over and over makes me good to go. Brings back a lot of awesome memories. I’d sit and just watch the intro music. Please. PLEASE. Make a switch HD game. 😆
This is still beautiful in 2024. I started it back up on the Wii to show a friend who isn't familiar with gaming, and couldn't stop myself from sitting through this intro. He was fascinated by it as well.
Just finished the gamecube version of this TWICE within the past couple weeks. It was my first time playing this game again since I was about 10 or 11. I forgot how much of a great and beautiful game this really is. And besides Majora’s Mask or Breath of The Wild, I’ve never seen a game with such a beginning theme to it that really sets up the mood of the whole game and really captures what this whole game is gonna be like. Easily within my top 3 favorite games of all time at #3, with BOTW being #2 and MM being #1. Honestly just an absolutely incredible game, really wish they’d port it for the Switch already.
I grew up with this game, making it my favorite Zelda game. I own the gamecube, wii, and wii u versions, yet wii is my favorite as that's what I started on. Watching the opening still gives me chills even though I know it perfectly.
Legend of Zelda Twilight princess is the one game that got me back into the legend of Zelda Series And one more thing every time I hear that wolf howl with the music playing in the background gives me Goosebumps
Dieses Spiel war meine Kindheit! Ich habe immer mein Papa zugeguckt als er das gespielt hat. Ich war so klein das alles nur noch neblige Erinnerungen sind, aber trotzdem gibt es mir so viel Nostalgie!

when wolf link was howling at the end and a part of Midna's theme plays, what if wolf link was howling out of sadness and grieving of midna's goodbye, and Midna's theme shows that he misses her and always remembers their adventure together from time to time? This is all based on if the title theme is set after finishing the game.
Hannah Yuan that’s actually a good theory
10/5 theory
Good theory but how would Link transform without Midna. She had that thing that transformed him and Link couldnt have kept it after she left because he cant touch it. Thank you for putting up with my two cents.
UnformedSlinky but that Shade who was link in the future was able to transform as well
The thing is you could see twilight so the game wasnt even half finished so it didnt reach the point where zelda sacrifices to save midna. Thats why midna wasnt there, cause she didnt have the protection against light. Hope it helped in some way.
I got this for Christmas the year it came out I was 16. This is still one of my favorite games. Hearing this theme always reminds of of Christmas now.
when i was a child i received this game as a birthday gift from my parents because they knew i liked zelda because i played wind waker. when i opened the gift and saw the game cover i didn't know what an amazing game i just held in my hands. till this day the best zelda game i've ever played.
Same omg !
When the singers said "AAAAAAH" I really felt that
This was my first Zelda game, so it has a special place in my heart and gosh, I still get so hyped from watching this opening!
purplemockingjayeyes really damn ur late this was like my fourth
Same man
I remember watching the demo trailer from a Nintendo magazine DVD & it got me really hyped for the game.
@@rickm2087Not everyone could play the previous ones lol
The ending always brings a tear to my eye. Link pulling the master sword in twilight princess is epic.
Twilight Princess is still my favorite as well!
@@TheRebornExpertthe call of the wild really speaks to us. 🐺
Is that a Call of the Wild reference?
TP is amazing
One of my favorite games of all time. The soundtrack for this game belongs in a museum. Just beautiful
I wish I could forget everything about this game and then play it, nothing was better than opening up this game the first time.
It was a glorious experience.
This intro still gives me chills eeeeeasy.
If you haven't yet, I recommend you play this game.
The best Zelda game of all time. The music is so good omg
Zelda games stopped adding intro cutscenes. What went wrong Nintendo 😭
@@VortexForgeShorts fr, the cutscenes and story in the intro is one of my favorite things about Zelda games.
@@Fleur2005 yeah
@@VortexForgeShortsfrealll ikr. Am looking at Tears of the Kingdom and BOTW but their intros arent quite as good as this one.
Intro cutscenes were fire
Chills at the howling part'
0:20 looks soooo nice how link ride on his horse and the music make that complete
Same. I’m gonna write Nintendo a letter about that.
0:56 the howl is the best part.
He said it was beautiful, how does it being from a game change anything? Does it matter if it’s from a game? How is that a bad thing?
Ugh, the title screen music gives me chills every time...
The best tloz, idc what tok and botw fans think, twilight is a Masterpiece
The graphics of this game are so beautiful..including the soundtrack. even not in HD i love it. One of my favorite Lengend of Zelda games. I can't wait for that one in 2015 to come out.
"that one in 2015"
Oh, if only you knew.
The HD version came out in late 2016.
Oops I meant early 2016.
I need a remake for the switch. And i need it now!!
i hope they dont mess up the game tho, and fix when in midnas lament, when fighting an enemy the music doesnt stop
i physically cant help but to shed tears because of my attachment to this game
Zelda isn't just a game. Zelda is something who tells so much about your character, about your life, if you are empathic or not. Zelda is definitely more than a game. It accompanied me through my whole life since I was 9 years old. Now I am nearly 27. It's a part of my life with many memories. Zelda is very important in my life
Not reading allat
This gotta be the best intro for a Zelda game fr… Up there with Majora’s Mask
2015 and im still gettin goosebumps
2016 and it still gives me goosebumps
2017 and i'm still having goosebumps
RenoVatio 2018 but the goosebumps still appear
No matter what year...it will always give me goosebumps...and I always cry at the end of the game...no matter how many times I have played it...
2059 the goosebumping never ends
so many memories dude... :')
so many.. :}
This game perfected and built upon the formula OoT set down as a 3D Zelda standard.
@@InvaderGIR98 yeah lol
There’s also the manga which fixes all the plot holes.
I used to play this game intro on loop on my tv and the console would get mad that I wasnt playing the game because i was too busy listening to the game intro on loop
This game is over a decade old and it is still beautiful for it's time
I used to let this intro loop repeatedly in my Nintendo Wii back in 2006 until I fell asleep. The most epic intro demo ever!!!
One of the best Zelda games I've played ;-;
Yeah
Oot is better
Jk I never tried TP
@@scruber64_ haha, OoT is definitely my first fav :)
@@Nokcturna
Hoping if Nintendo gives me another chance and port Twilight Princess HD for the Switch, alongside with Wind Waker HD.
@@scruber64_ that would be awesome indeed! Hope they do that, I'd love to play both games again.
Funny to realize that the Wii version of the Opening it's the sun rising, not the sunset. :P
+Twero Produções I never noticed that. I always felt like it was really dark to have it at sunset, but if its sunrise...does that mean that it's a sign of hope? Like the sun is rising on Hyrule? Haha just a fun tidbit to think about lol.
14Shadowrose
Well, that was the original concept. The twilight is (literally) falling over Hyrule. We are in a sunset in the GC version. But ,due the Wii version is mirrored, the sun is rising.
+Twero Produções Hahaha, I see what you did there!
+14Shadowrose The Hero rises with the sun! I like it! Yes
+Twero Produções Everything on the wii version is reversed. Instead of link holding the sword in his left hand he holds it in his right.
Here summer of 2024. This game will live on forever.
Yesssss i decided to replay after many years
I remember when I was 13 years old, I came home from school, turned on my Wii and was shocked by the intro of this video game, the music, the colors, the camera angles... so much nostalgia in a single video.
Seeing this intro just brings back memories of Christmas Day 2006 and the long time I waited for this game
The First one I ever got in a Zelda game, it means alot to me, that this was *my* Master Sword.
i wish i could forget this game so that i can play it over and over..
That Beautiful, Heavenly Choir
Chills everytime.
I played It like 2008 when My father give me my Wii,man this was My first Zelda and i always i'm going to remember it,this was the first game i ended complete whit all the secrets It was my childhood i haved like 7 years when i finish this
HeroBroRS xD My Father buy me the Wii with this game together when the Wii was new on the market
Cada vez que veo esto me dan ganas de llorar, lo fácil que era la vida antes, solo ocupaba jugar un poco zelda para ser feliz.
This was time when my life was easier
This opening is only topped by Oot in my opinion. The chills I get and the nostalgia that washes over me make me yearn for simpler times. I replay these two every year. It's like the gaming equivalent to comfort food to me.
Every Zelda has intro that is worth crying.
this video game gives me so much feelings.
this generation isnt able to experience this feeling
man,
I know! I Feel so happy and stress free watching this just like the good ole days! I wanna just stay at home everyday and relive Zelda on the wii and N64! To bad I can't :(
speak for yourself i hooked my younger cousins with zelda XD
TP will always be the best :)
GCN nah and for one stupid reason..
noestoyfacil What?
i remember as a kid i would boot up the game to watch the intro, let the menu idle, then watch the trailer because of the music. this game definitely sparked my opinion that a games soundtrack is just as important as the graphics, controls, and story of a game.
+Oracle of Games I AGREE IKR
Nostalgia mostly, and OoT isn't as tedious in certain parts of the game. But TP is definitely one of the best Zelda games out there. I'd say Number 2 with Number 3 being Majora's Mask
Crazy Mofo who just so happens to want you dead What OoT fans have you met? Although Ocarina of Time was my first/favorite, I've played ALttP, TP, WW, OoA/S, PH and even a little bit of LoZ I and II.
Not hard to figure that not all human beings are the same. You like tp, others like oot and some may even like alttp or ww the most.
He is the true successor to hero of time man I love this game so much raw emotion
The song at 1:20 is Don't Want You No More/Orchestra Piece 1 in case you were wondering
I don’t fucking care what anyone says, this is my favorite version of legend of Zelda

The wolf howl @0:56 gives me goosebumps.
1:11 you forgot to press a + b!
I grew up with this game, making it my favorite Zelda game. I own the gamecube, wii, and wii u versions, yet wii is my favorite as that's what I started on. Watching the opening still gives me chills even though I know it perfectly.
To this day, the wolf howl still gives me goosebumps
ARROOOOOOOOOO!
