    I think it’s kinda funny how we can beat on these trucks that go 45+mph and jump them 15ft in the air. Then complain about having to buy parts to fix them. If I drove my 1987 tamiya blackfoot the way you can drive one of these newer monster trucks it would be destroyed in minutes. Amazing how far Rc has come in the last 10 years.

    • @mikes062

      Scottstoyz that’s the truth, I don’t care what rc you’ve got if you jump it 30’ in the air it’s going to break!! 🙄🙄🙄 the people who think rc technology should be farther also think they should have had their flying DeLorean 5 years ago...🙄🙄

      I bought a rc buggy that's comparable to one of the older ones just to get some perspective and experience from where we have came from. It was really eye opening and such a great learning experience. I rec it for anyone to see how much difference there is today and still how much fun and challenge there use to be.

    Traxxas is still stuck in the 1980's and 1990's as far as their prices. There are so many alternatives like the Kaiju that are more cost effective.

    Nice comparison. I have both. I did put the widemaxx kit on the Maxx to make it more drivable. After two runs on both vehicles, I can say that the Maxx has been a bit more durable. I did have an issue with the front turn buckles on the Maxx and the front bumper and front differential cup on my redcat KAIJU. I'll see what happens when I run both of these more. Before installing the widemaxx kit I beat the crap out of it with zero breaks like 5 runs. It's very DURABLE. No doubt the Kaiju is a better value and easier to work on too. I just ha
    had bad luck with mine on the first bash.

Im hoping the Maxx and XMaxx represent a paradigm shift for Traxxas in that theyre designing for more durability. Time will tell.

      Good to know. I had one other person talk to me about that before on a different truck but they were running through the water and if those bearings aren't sealed they can get water in them and get rusty and that will definitely cause the bearing to seize and also calls you other issues. Sealed bearings hold up a little bit better for sure if that may have been your problem as well or could have just been choice of crappy bearings which might be the same thing

    Hey my friend. Wanted to update my Kaiju vs Maxx 4s comparison. After a few runs. Both of my Kaijus have had issues with the front differential drive cups. The first Kaiju split its cup in half and now my second one is almost broken. First Kaiju broken parts : diff cup, front bumper support. Second Kaiju : Diff cup, servo horn stripped (as expected since it's plastic), wheelie bar set screw damaged on both vehicles (broke in half on one, bent on the other), body will be destroyed in no time (use gorilla tape), broke upper control arm, broke front c hub and steering block. For the Maxx 4s on those same 5 runs : only the body has damage and nothing broke with the same kind of crazy driving. Yes I've spent about $750 on the Maxx, but with all the spare parts that I have spent on the Kaiju, guess what? It's getting to be almost the same price, and the Maxx still drivable every time. If I were to do it again. Yup my vote would be for the Maxx. My opinion 👍

    • @NPCRC
      @NPCRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Drive cups, servo horn and bumper totals $350? It may be a pain in the ass to have to deal with but they pricing is far from comparable. Haven't seen that to be a weak spot yet. I will have to keep an eye out to see if it is a repeat occurrence

    • @joseCalderon1976
      @joseCalderon1976 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NPCRC I've known of at least 4 people that have had problems with their drive cups too on the front unfortunately. Look at it this way : I've spent over $800 to buy both Kaijus plus parts and both of them managed to break, while I spent $750 on the Maxx, and it has outlasted both Kaijus and it's still driving like a champ. There's no denying that the Maxx is way more durable. I understand the value that the Kaiju offers, but for me, I prefer durability over value. And yes, the Max and xmaxx 8s beat my Arrmas in durability too. I forgot to to mention that I also broke the rear body mount on Kaiju #2, replaced it, and now I the replacement is starting to break again. BTW, most of the runs have been done on 4s too. I still like the Kaiju a lot, but it wouldn't be my first choice if it was to be my only vehicle. All the vehicles break, but some more than others.

    I have a kaiju, I like it I bought it used for half price then new never heard about it till I saw it on a resale app, it's fun it wheelies it jumps its fast, but parts to fix it are hard to get! Waiting a week now to get upper arms and a diff cup , amazon dosent sell many parts for kaiju had to order thru another rc site seems to be a very week point on upper arms and diff cups so I've seen online motor and esc seem good. If I had maxx I would have the repair parts and upgrade parts in couple days or sooner though, and be driving it now. So redcat parts are hard to come by kind of a bummer.

    • @NPCRC
      @NPCRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      not normally. That truck ran into covid delays. It was really popular at a time when parts and shipments were hard to get. We would sell out of parts and have to wait a while to get them.. then all the dealers who have access would battle to order stock when they did get their 2 month batch and then within a week, key items were out of stock again. They even bumped up the order after that and we still have parts that are out again. This is more of a demand issue with that truck and all the dealers are in need, so it kills the planned inventory! It will get better!

    Great video sir! Get better! Couple comments...
    Please compare the Kaiju to BOTH the Arma 4S Outcast as well as the 6S Outcast...not just the 6s. ..because
    2. As you stated for $530/550, the Arma Kraron/Outcast or Team Corally Kronos/Dementor are bigger 1/8 trucks ,faster, and generally more truck than the Maxx at the same price point and....
    3. While the Kaiju is 6S capable and is only $400. it also, though stated as 1/8, is smaller than the 1/10 Maxx by a hair and smaller than the afore mentioned 6s Armas and Corallys.
    Its real value ia that at the Arma 4s and maxx size it offers the Arma price point with similar performance and build quality characteristics-attributes of the more expensive 6s and the maxx. In my opinion anyway. Time will reveal the durability of them all or lack thereof,plastic or not.😉
    Keep doing your thing man. You're one of the best!

    I have been out of the hobby for a few years and dusting off the old cars/rebuilding them this winter in preparation for next summer. I would like a large new truck and it has been narrowed down to between these two. I am not a huge fan of Traxxas (have a built Pede) because their sue-happy nature hurt the hobby as a whole, so why support them? However, I won't deny the idea of purchasing one used or entertain the idea of buying new, just not happy with them for a while. They are bullies. Researching shows both to be tough and in my opinion, the RedCat is the best value hands down. With that said, I think Traxxas will have the best long-term parts support and aftermarket accessories.

      McDingus i never said anything about the kaiju i said traxxas is way over priced! Ive owned a few traxxas cars back when they were priced with the other companies and had nothing but trouble with them! They have junk plastic axles and their electronics are garbage! Their Quality does not come near their price! So its not blind hate its experience ive been in the hobby over 35yrs! Our local hobby shop wont sell traxxas anymore because he got tired of the complaints! So you can keep your traxxas and i hope you have better luck with them

      @@jameshankssr466- correct, you said nothing about the Kaiju, but you are implying that Traxxas is overpriced compared to their competition. So, I used the Kaiju as an example. Unfortunately for your argument, when you start comparing apples to apples- Traxxas is usually not priced all that much above any direct competition. Especially when you factor in things like parts availability and customer service/ overall product support.
      And in response to your claims of "junk plastic axles"- I think you haven't learned much in your 35 years in RC. Their are good plastics and bad plastics out there. Just because they are plastic doesn't make them bad. In fact, it helps improve durability and performance in some areas, and it also keeps costs down. I don't know what models you are specifically referring to- but I'm sure you know this has been an issue with other manufacturers as well. And if you expect top level electronics in your RTR vehicle- be prepared to pay the price. Personally I don't have many problems with their more modern esc's and motors- but I'm sure the earlier systems were not too great comparatively.
      Just for the record, I am not a Traxxas fanboy. For the most part I buy kits because I like to build them and I also like to get specific electronic components. But Traxxas is the top dog for a reason- and when it comes to bashers they have a far better reputation than what your hobby shop is claiming. My guess is that your hobby shop is anti- Traxxas because they can't make as good of margins on Traxxas stuff because they have too much competition online and locally. My LHS loves Traxxas because they sell a shit ton of it. In fact- so much so that he sells it for less than you can get it online. And it's awful nice to know that I can get almost any part I need with a 5 minute drive down the road.

      @@jameshankssr466 Actually, vague comments trying to bash any manufacturer is usually what sets me off. Just making a random comment about something sucking is a completely unfair and quite frankly ignorant thing to do in TH-cam comments sections. If you're gonna take the time to bash something- at least have the cajones to make a point that shows your point of view.
      You obviously don't own a Maxx so I don't know how you thought you could make an informed comment about it in the first place.

    How do you do a value comparison on two trucks and every other thing that you compare is followed by you saying "I'm not sure" or "it might be" . Probably might be maybe I don't know. If it's intimidating to you that might be problem seeing as how you are claiming that you are an expert who is qualified to give value comparison's on stuff you keep saying that you don't know a lot about and are intimidated by. LOL!! GIVE IT TO ME,GIVE IT TO ME!! LOL......

      You're talking about what would be called a review. Most people when new trucks come out aren't too sure about them when they do the unboxing and comparisons pre run. There are plenty of post run reviews including 1 or 2 by myself if you ever cared to look

      Well considering the Kaiju is out of the team associated Factory and red cat keeps their product support for two to three years after discontinuing the truck I would say this truck is going to be around for at least 5 years and then have a support of longer than that so if you're trying to say that the red cat won't have support you're dead wrong but thanks for your input

      I have been saving a few dollars here and there for the last 6 years planning on buying an xmaxx. I will have enough money in 5days however i am still unsure if i want to spend 1400$cdn before batterys charger and a new esc. I would argue that best bang for your buck should also include resell value.i know i could take that maxx and add a few things and have the most durable truck available. But could i do that with the redcat truck. By durable i mean hitting a 10foot jump full out going 30-50feet in the air repeatedly with not many issues. If you have not watched a kevin talbot video id say everyone should. Redcat needs to send that guy a truck to review if they wanted to get noticed.
