The Traxxas Link App knows the rpm of the motor and then only calculates the speed of the truck per your inputs. When the tires spin out (in snow, dirt, grass, etc, the rpms shoot up and the speed is calculated by whatever motor rpm's were recorded. So if you spin the tires faster than your truck is moving, then it is a false speed indication.
Hi mate..i reckon GPS is best for speed runs. I think youre measuring the wheel spin. Same as mine. If you lift the car , the speedo still reads 40 50mph yet the car isnt going anywhere . The telemetry expander would be cool but it's such a price tag. That said, it's a great model isnt it?

I just purchased TWO of these Maxx’s and will be mildly bashing them on 4S with throttle at 70-80% on the traxxas link module. Would you rate these as your toughest or one of your most durable rc’s?😎🤔
Thats cool how your able to use your phone to turn the lights on! Did you install the lights yourself and the telemetry set up? If I had the money id love to have this truck, but I have 2 Xmaxxs and stampedes Im still having fun with. Arrma Big rock as well. Lots of fun

Maybe, but in another video I compared the app speed to GPS and it was within two tenths of a mile an hour. I found a tire in the app that's real close again...
I run a 7200mah 75 c SMC battery and it fits just fine with the factory hold down. Check out Mach Speed Hobbies channel on TH-cam. He hooked me up with the battery, I saw him use it and I ordered one from him. Runs great!
Thanks hey. Yeah, I have a pair of SMC lipos for my boats. So I'm familiar with them, ordered from their website. I suppose I haven't went after a max speed run, the Traxxas lipos deliver enough power for what I'm doing. Great info tho, especially on them fitting...

Thank you. Yes, the Maxx is the perfect size, big enough to be capable, not so heavy that it breaks easily impacting the ground...

Thanks. I installed the lights. The telemetry is factory installed, when you enable the blue tooth link it's there.

Those are great ideas. Just takes time. I'll be doing a speed run soon and report on the HRB lipo...
The graphene lipo battery is just marketing fluff, you can search it on google or TH-cam.

What tires recommend for the maxx?
For track, dirt & snow I like the Prolines. For jumping, control in the air & backflips I like the stock Traxxas tires.
