That's very good news, I love the Virginia/Perique blends so much and many other blends that have Perique in them. So to hear that it has a future, I'm very happy about that.
Loving your videos-subscribed just now. I’d never heard of the Black Patch Wars and am looking into it now. One note: Dark Fired Kentucky isn’t Nicotina Rustica. That’s a different breed of tobacco altogether. Keep up the great work, brother!
The good old soil of the Mississippi River, and the humidity of the southern Louisiana swamp must have something to do with why it’s only grown in St. James Parish....
I'm fixin to start my seeds. I like that you said it comes out moist and dark. I'm not a smoker but I dip snuff so I plan on fermenting mine and shredding it into snuff. I'm gonna see how it turns out. I've heard it's kinda peppery which is what I like. I've never had "pure" tobacco before so in about a year from now hopefully if I like it, I'll never have to buy store bought anymore.
FWIW I’ve recently been buying perique from my local tobacco shop and blending it with other types. So far perique mixed with 2 parts cherry is my favorite although I also like 1 part perique to 1 part black cavendish is also very nice. 3:48
Interesting information about the Acadian Perique. I'm trying to rehydrate some now that I had forgotten about in my stash and didn't know the story behind it beyond just the basic knowledge about perique in general.
When I lived in southeast Louisiana, I'd drive to St. James Parish and gaze at the fields of perique. I'm glad to hear it's making a comeback.

Has others not tried to grow Perique? Like why can’t other states make Perique such as Texas or Florida which also have land at similar longitude.
