My wife was dying of dying of cancer last year in denver. We are americans. She was a veteran we ended up homeless and couldnt even get a shelter bed. So its hard to feel sorry for people who shouldnt even be here at all

I was in the exact same situation. My husband was a twelve year Vietnam Navy veteran. He got sick with cancer (he told me asbestos was hanging from pipes right above his bunk on the ship). He applied for health care from the VA. He was put on a waiting list (found this out after I called veterans administration in Washington DC). He died without ever seeing a doctor at the VA. The only thing that kept us from financial ruin was because I was still working and had good insurance coverage from my employer. So John, I guess I was luckier than you. Although it was very difficult working twelve hours a day and coming home and taking care of a sick husband. I didn't mind. My husband had always been very good to me. So very sorry for what you had to go through.

As a daughter of LEGAL immigrants, I see lots of complaining for someone who was living in extremely dire circumstances back home. Why not ask what can I do, where can I work and how can I make things better for myself? I know they are having a hard time but they can’t just be handed things like free or subsidized apartments when the rest of us actual tax paying citizens are struggling to pay rents.

I have a 61 year old woman friend who fell and broke her back. She spent 3 months in the hospital, during which time she was not able to pay rent and lost her place. She is now looking for housing and can't afford the $1000+ for a studio that has become the norm in Colorado. She is homeless, a native Coloradan and American citizen. She gets NOTHING in the form of the help from Colorado. Until she's 62, she can't get reduced rent (who raised retirement age to 62 after she was told, all her life, she could retire at 55?). She's even a Democrats, so yes, she deserves the blame for supporting the 'hate Americans first' party, but for the SoS to send out ballots to illegals and for Democrats to put all their effort into supporting illegals, it really shows that Democrats really do hate America. Nobody "fundamentally transforms" something they like...

They have to have work papers in order to be able to work in the US. It can take up to 6 months for the paperwork to go through. The shelter gives you X days, then you are left on the streets. What would have happened to this woman had she stayed where she was? Yeah, I have to admit I let that happen in 2020 and it won't happen again. Not after seeing the destruction that happened over the last four years. I was a child when Jimmy Carter was in office and I got a Telya. Most of the people using the app or no better, and they're costing us an arm and a leg too. You do realize that of those who actually use the app not all go through with the process of applying for asylum once they are in the country and not all who apply bother to show up for their court hearing. Of those that do all three, only 10-25% of prove that they actually have a valid claim for asylum. Of the 6 million that said the magic word asylum once they crossed, that means we could be looking at as few as 500,000 being approved.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the House Committee on Homeland Security released its latest “Startling Stats” factsheet outlining U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) September and Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 border encounter data. In the final month of FY2023, CBP recorded 269,735 encounters at the Southwest border, marking another unprecedented milestone under Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and President Joe Biden’s open-borders policies. This monthly number also represents an 86% increase from June 2023, when the Biden administration celebrated a short-lived drop in illegal crossings following the end of Title 42.
The annual numbers proved just as catastrophic. In FY23, CBP recorded more than 2.4 million encounters at the Southwest border and more than 3.2 million encounters nationwide. Just this fiscal year, 169 individuals on the terrorist watchlist were apprehended attempting to enter the country illegally, and at least 1.7 million known gotaways have evaded apprehension since FY2021. Americans did not need more proof that Biden and Mayorkas’ post-Title 42 strategy had failed, but unfortunately, that’s exactly what we have gotten.
As this disaster spirals further out of control, the Biden administration does not know how many dangerous illegal aliens are entering the country undetected, especially as Border Patrol agents are being pulled off the front lines to help process and release the historic number of illegal aliens flooding the border. While monthly apprehensions and encounters continue to increase, Mayorkas simply continues to double down on his mass-parole programs, incentivizing and facilitating the entry of otherwise inadmissible aliens into the United States at a scale never before seen.
Key Facts:
Encounters at the Southwest border (SWB) in FY2023 increased over 40% since FY2021, 4% compared to FY2022, and more than 100% compared to FY2019.
Last month, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported a 40% increase compared to September 2021 and 18% compared to September 2022.
Since President Biden took office, there have been 7.5 million encounters nationwide and 6.2 million encounters at the Southwest border, in addition to 1.7 million known gotaways.
In FY2023, 169 individuals whose names appear on the terrorist watchlist were stopped trying to cross the U.S.-Mexico border between ports of entry. 18 were apprehended in September alone.
So far in FY2023, CBP has arrested 35,433 aliens with criminal convictions or outstanding warrants nationwide, including 598 known gang members, 178 of those being MS-13 members.
In FY2023, CBP, including Air and Marine Operations, has seized 27,293 pounds of fentanyl, coming across the Southwest border-enough to kill more than 6 billion people.

Same thing happened to my sister. Her husband died and she couldn't collect from her husband's SS for a number of years until she reached retirement age. I think it was 62. She was working but didn't make alot of money. At least she got her husband's life insurance which at least paid funeral expenses. I was lucky. When my husband died I had a good job so I was able to live okay until I was retirement age. Thank God for that!

Sorry but plainly there are citizens in a crisis too without homes , jobs , food , I don't see anyone helping then to tune of billions of tax payers dollars , They should go home to their countries !
