      I've been using your drills lately in my practice and by far the best one that helped me was the tuck the shirt under the arm pit. These drills have been great for my irons, woods and hybrids however, when I took out driver I found it hard to not slice the ball and that consistency went down that I was experiencing with my irons. What are some of your videos that give a few key tweaks to the driver swing when compared to your iron drills?

      I love this tip and have incorporated the "feels" and technique into my swing. Feels pretty good....do I also lean body towards target, a bit? Standing with weight on front foot, not sure if I should have body forward lean and if the left shoulder dips a bit in takeaway.

      Anybody else get distracted by the golfer in the background at the 3:33:33 mark in the video? He is swaying back and forth with his weight shift, takes a big ol' chunky divot (I'm certain it was behind the ball) and then almost slams his club into the ground in total disgust? Come-on Tom, is this guy a "plant" in your video for further entertainment value? LOL! Great lessons, as usual!

    Tom, have ben following your videos for a few months now and ball striking has improved. Unfortunately I played really bad on Monday in my league, shot a 96! Usually in mid 80s. Was really disgusted. Played again on Thursday and before i went i watched one of your videos for reinforcement . Focused most on not swaying and getting lead shoulder down to ball on backswing. Went to the course and shot my best score ever! A 74, 3 over par. Parred the first 12 holes! You are my hero! Stopped on the way home and got some KFC for dinner!

    Been a fan (subscriber) for a few years but jump around on other advice channels. Came back to this one and watched the first 80 minutes yesterday. Today I was on 12 greens in regulation, only hit 2 duffy strikes, both from difficult lies. This is the only advice for me that's simple to remember without a whole lot of swing thoughts, and most importantly it works!!! Thanks Tom.

    Tom this is Awesome ! Setting up my winter Golf training Workouts Now. I’m definitely using these Drills to nail my contact point in front of the Ball ! This spring I started watching you on TH-cam. I had some of my longest straightest Drives. I had to change me Driver adjustments and aiming point. This summer went from 100 to consistently shooting 90 or better and for the first time I had a round under 80 !!! Can’t wait until next Spring to LIGHT IT UP ! With my best Golf Ever ... Thank You David

    At the age of 65, I recently took golf up again after a 20+ year hiatus. After the long layoff, I had lost most of my distance and power. It didn't matter what club I was hitting, they all went about 125 yards. These drills are helping me greatly and I am starting to hit the ball really well. Last week while playing, I hit a 9 iron 140 and I felt that effortless power! Thank you so much for these great videos! You are the best!!

      As you are now coming to understand, one does not need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. I hope you'll give the school some thought.

    Tom can't get enough of your enthusiastic simple "fact" filled tuition. I'm from a scientific background so use to only dealing in facts.
    Just a thought that may well help other subscribers is I think of my "trail" arm as in fact being my "lead" arm as it is the arm that "leads" or initiates the swing after you have taken care of set up. And in my limited experience what the right arm (for RH golfers) does is more vital for consistent ball strike than my left arm. Hope this is of some help to others! Keep on rockin'!

    Tom im a Member ive always been a descent golfer was on my high school team im 36 now and last summer i was consistently in the 70s low 80s depending on the course and conditions. My backswing and load was always descent i was in a trackman the other day and i noticed i have a stand up flip arms bent weird jump at impact. I never felt that but seeing it in film was an eye opener. The tip where u turn wrists down through and after impact has literally improved my ball striking tremendously. No more flip or shoulder stall or jump. Best tip i ever seen anywhere. Only suggestion is try to show it from the target line view facing you a front view doesnt show the left exit the club takes because of the roatation so ppl might misinterpreted when they see just the front view amd push their arms too far to right field or center when they actually exit left of the torso

      Sadly, Eric, such sorcery from this dark underworld of golf instruction rarely finds its way to the mainstream because if too many folks found out about it the mainstream would then be rendered irrelevant....... 😎
      Consider that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within the realm of modern “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, firing the hips, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). I’m doing my best here to clear these up one by one and put an end to this madness, and I'm glad to know that it is resonating with you!

      I sincerely appreciate your kind words, Larry, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you. I hope your son finds these drills to be helpful - thanks for passing them along!
      Now, with regard to your situation, while I have no idea as to the extent of your back issues, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.
      Have you looked into the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. You don't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. I hope you'll give the school some thought.
      Thanks again for your message and support!

      Yes - I understand that it can be difficult at first as we are breaking habits and exorcising those stubborn "ghosts of swings past". Ideally we should want to simply "allow" the hand/wrist/arm actions to happen without forcing anything. If we have a secure grip, pre-establish the connections properly in the setup, and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct positions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. The power accumulators - including the proper arm, wrist, and hand action - will then naturally load and fire with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary, thereby returning the face to the position pre-established at address. We are minimizing variables and building a ball striking machine, and the golfer will find that as trust builds in the shoulders will rotate freely and the "machine" will then be optimized. It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power.
      And while I certainly have other videos that address this topic, a better option would be my _newly updated_ FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

      LOL!! This has actually been a problem. Folks would make the trip here and book an hour or two of in-person instruction, only to be striping it 5 minutes into the lesson. That sure does leave a lot of idle chit-chat time on the table...... 😆😆

    😊I enjoyed the simplicity of the video. Unfortunately, in cold weather in the NJ/NY region, extreme temperatures hot a d cold, require various clothing needs. This challenges my ability to remember the tips, getting tired (68 y/o male) by the 7th / 8th hole or frustrated by the external factors; wind, uneven ground, slopes, etc. I stopped scoring years ago and focused on each hole as a new adventure. I play the same course ( Skyway in Jersey City), which is only 9 holes (3 par: 5's, 4's, 3's), but the fescue and sloping fairway is very challenging.

      I'm glad to know that this lesson resonated with you, and having lived in PA through high school I do understand about the weather extremes!
      You may be interested to know that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.
      Have you looked into the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many seasoned, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. You don't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. I hope you'll give the school some thought.
      Stay warm up there!

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ian,
      I was using JumboMax Ultralite grips in extra-large for much of 2022 and the first part of 2023. I had wanted to give them a try for a few reasons, including the fact that DeChambeau uses them and we share similar swing philosophies. I personally love the feel as well as how they help to keep my hands quiet through the zone.
      Now, having said that, I recently purchased a new set of PXG's, and since they don't carry the Jumbo's in-house I went with their largest available grip, which is a midsize. I absolutely love the clubs, and I'm putting the factory grips through the playing test before deciding whether or not to have them regripped. There are no issues with the Jumbos and I still really like the way they feel; that's just where I'm at presently.
      The Jumbos are not necessarily for everyone - and my fingers are a bit longer than average - so I routinely tell folks to "try before you buy." However, having a properly sized grip that feels both comfortable and secure is critically important as it is our only connection to the object that is going to deliver us blissful joy or deep anguish, yet it is perhaps also the most overlooked equipment fitting component in golf.

      With regard to those "millions of tips", please be careful in navigating the muddied, overly-complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction. That is not a dig against any other teachers out there. It's simply best to commit to a system - whether it be this body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance method or another - put your blinders on, and stick to it. More thoughts: My golf game just got a lot less expensive. Fatten the left wrist. I'd been doing everything right and everything wrong. No front end divot, plenty of slice and hook, and, five out of ten strikes straight -descent. I can not imagine the machinations my body went through just to hit the ball straight 5 out of 10 times. Now I consciously focused on a flat wrist in the back swing and bhamn-- ball, divot, straight, xt-25yards, I have no idea the increase in club head speed. I can't wait to take this to my next match and play for free --we always play for greens fees and carts. Ha! Thanks a $million Tom Saguto. You be da bes

      It's important to know why the ball is behaving a particular way in order to reverse engineer the cause. The ball is simply responding to the flight plan assigned to it by the clubface at impact. Clubface relative to target line is the primary influencer of the ball's starting line and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature. Without actually seeing your swing it's very difficult to diagnose the cause of your pulls. However, they are likely the result of a poor impact condition, a path that is steep and across the ball, or both. Here are a couple of popular channel videos that address these issues:
      - th-cam.com/video/Fe2kQ44azJ4/w-d-xo.html (Impact)
      - th-cam.com/video/I5XYgKopTb4/w-d-xo.html (Downswing Hip Action)

      With regard to your question, perhaps you may be micromanaging your swing a bit too much with that trail arm feel. Try relinquishing control to the shoulders after nailing your setup as discussed in this recent video: th-cam.com/video/G-CdFCObeh4/w-d-xo.html
      In more general terms, I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. As such, it is important to understand that the lessons on this channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a comprehensive, step-by-step, position-by-position learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing as it will make for a far more efficient and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through my TH-cam content. The lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result of the school, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews.

      Thanks - I'm glad to know that you are enjoying my lesson videos!
      In the swing system I teach we start with our weight forward (generally 55/45 for the short and mid irons, 60/40 for the longer clubs). We achieve this by addressing the ball "stacked", shoulders over hips over knees with our weight balanced 50/50. We then simply bump our hips 1" towards the target while keeping everything else in place. That presets a little more weight forward while retaining the stacked relationship. During the swing we gradually add more forward weight load into the transition (70/30), 80/20 halfway down, 90/10 impact, and 95/5 finish. The upper torso/head - and thus the swing center - remains in place during the increasing forward weight load in the downswing. There's no "weight shift"; instead, it's just a gradually increasing load onto the lead side. And the result is a centered, low-maintenance, body-friendly, consistent, and tremendously powerful swing.

    Tom, I know you talk about not shifting weight, but I notice a squat and for lack of a better term, jump in your swing right before impact. Do you have any videos discussing that?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nice observation, though I assure you that it is not any type of contrived or manufactured move on my part!
      Early in the downswing the lead knee retains its backswing flex and the trail knee regains some of its address flex, and as the hips continue to move laterally targetward while the upper torso remains in place, the golfer is then well positioned for an upward thrust with the legs. If this "leveraging of the ground" doesn't happen on autopilot, then the "feel" we like to ingrain is tucking the butt under the hips through the zone, which causes the belt buckle to raise up a few inches from pre- to post-impact. It can also be likened to a high jumper pushing off his or her lead leg as they propel themselves upward and over the bar. This releases the spine from flexion to extension - a very powerful move.
      Here is a video from the archives related to this: th-cam.com/video/upINMObEA_k/w-d-xo.html

    Hi Tom! Does this mean staying "compact"?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      "Compact" can carry a connotation of being restrictive, and this swing is certainly not that. Provided the golfer establishes the critical connection points and structure at setup and has a foundation that facilitates a centered, free flowing motion, the key is to get to - but not go beyond - our body's natural stopping point. This is the point where if we were to try to go any further any or all of the following will occur:
      1) the lead arm will bend and/or lift
      2) the wrists will break down
      3) the lead knee will kick inward towards the trail side
      4) the lead shoulder will level out and lose its orientation towards the ball
      5) weight will shift into the trail side and bring the low point back with it, resulting in inconsistent contact and unpredictable ball flight.
      6) you'll "chicken wing" and/or flip through impact
      7) pain, discomfort, and/or possible injury
      8) Inconsistent contact and ball flight
      There is no need to force ourselves to get to "parallel" with this swing, and fighting our body in an attempt to do so will result in some combination of the above issues. Instead, we are eliminating the variables that come from being too long, loose and disconnected, and in doing so we are constructing a ball striking machine. If we execute this swing properly we will have created width and plenty of distance for that club to travel by taking it in deep, and that enables us to then harness the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum".
      While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews
